Safety and Security - Fitted to this car is a top qualilty alarm and imobilizer. And the electronically cut keys are a feature which just shows the attention to detail Merc give to all there cars. There are too many safety features to name, they have everything you would expect in a high class modern car plus some others. This is why I find it quite a reasonable car to insure as a 21 year old. Overall - When buying a car you can always trust the quality and attention to detail of Mercedes Benz. And this car is no different, Merc have made a small car big and reasonabily priced. ...I bought my BMW seven years ago and for a bottom end of the BMW range i found it to be everything i wanted and expected. Slick look, nice interior and the BMW prestige sold it for me. Having just sold mine i even got a good resale price which is a plus when you need a good deposit for a new car. Its been a reliable car but when something goes wrong be ready to put your hand in your pocket as nothing comes cheap on these babies. The down side apart from parts etc is its ability to perform like a world figure skating champion in the most light of weather conditions. get used to this and you've got a reliable, comfortable, good looking ride. Leave the Mercs to the old boys....

2000 model 1.6 ltr automatic clio

Advantages: easy to park, good handling, reasonable looks
Disadvantages: under powered, fuel consumption

...2000 model 1.6 ltr automatic clio.. (owned it for 3 months) I would say a reliable car, but more fuel consuming than the 1.4 I had before. The engine is good and so are the features. Interior is not very impressive. I think its fair for the price. Air con is effective but the car is not responsive enough. You have to really push to get some speed out it! And if you do, fuel consumption is considerable. After driving a Merc, I'm not quite happy with the road handling. But overall its a small nippy car. I would recommend a 1.2 manual (under powered but still good for a small car). haven't had any problems apart from a small technical snag with the auto drive (a light keeps blinking on 'D' of auto drive)....

.... The gearbox is very short and sharp and I've had friends who drive BMWs and Mercs comment on this too. Some of the plastic trip on mine does creak a little, but overall I've been very surprised by this car and even considered replacing it with a newer model when the time comes and I've never before considered myself to be a blue oval owner. It does lack in gadgetsif that's what you're into but mine has a/c which always works well....
