Mercedes CLK 230 Kompressor Coupé

Advantages: A super stylish motor car
Disadvantages: Expensive

...the wondows, while the alternative, "Avantgarde" has black maple wood, and different (7-spoke) wheels. The 230K engine can get a bit coarse at when pushed hard, but is super quiet when cruising, however, and the CLK does a fine job of minimising wind and road noise (205/55 R16 wheels). The "K" stands for Kompressor, which is German for supercharger, where air is compressed before entering the cylinders by a system mechanically linked to the engine, so you get all the power, with none of teh "lag" associated with a turbo-charger. The CLK is most at home on motorways, or nice A roads, where it feels as solid and and comfortable as a you would expect from a Mercedes. The CLK, from the front, and actually the back, come to think of it, looks very much like a sleeker version of the big (old) E-class saloon, and I believe, looks a lot niver...

Mercedes 320 SLK

Advantages: Lots of admiring glances
Disadvantages: People don't let you out of junctions !

...I bought a 320 SLK after many trips to the local Mercedes garage and after test driving a few CLKs and the new Coupe. The SLK was the only one I got out of with a smile on my face, and it was a big one! So rather than buy one big CLK to load up with miles I bought a 1.2 Corsa for running around and an SLK for nice days. Performance is enough to get you into trouble in the wet but the traction control always kicks in before you realise you've even had a problem. The flashing light on the dash tells you you almost did! The sound from the engine is fantastic - especially with the roof down - it's like being in a computer game. Handling isn't quite what I'd expected. I'd had a couple of BMW coupes before and the SLK feels a bit bouncy compared to them - comfy rather than taught. The brakes are fantastic though (they sense...

Mercedes SLK 230

Advantages: Very stylish, nice to own and drive.
Disadvantages: Very little luggage space with the roof down.

...We purchased our first SLK in March 1998. The first sports car we had owned. It was sitting there in the local Mercedes dealer's showroom and following a test drive we decided to buy it. At the time, this Mercedes dealership afforded a first class service and was a pleasure to deal with, but more about that in another opinion. What a brilliant piece of engineering this car was with it's folding roof, watching the whole thing disappear into the boot at the touch of a button. The bodywork was finished in silver with a black leather interior, the best combination, in my opinion. It had the standard 7 spoke polished alloys fitted and again, these 16" wheels suited the car really well. Later styles of 16" wheels fitted to the facelift SLK 230 are not so appealing in my view. Out on the road the super-charged 4 cylinder engine...

Oh lord ....wont you buy me a Mercedes Benz...

Advantages: luxurious interiror, 3 point badge, comfort
Disadvantages: expensive, sterotype image of middle aged drivers.

...Unfortunately after dreaming and dreaming of this car, the lord couldn't help my husband and he had to buy a Mercedes himself. He is a big fan of German and Japanese cars, and since being able to drive, he has had one car after another. Beginning with the old just- roadworthy Nissan sunny, to the funky Suzuki x-9. (Has anyone ever actually seen this car on the roads? I?m not surprised! it is a very bizarre looking beach buggy. see picture below.) He has always wanted the famous 3 pointed badge and eventually, a good deal popped up! He searched for his car from Great Trade Center, based in White city, London. They have a great online search facility. WWW.GTCCAR.CO.UK. We know many people who have bought their cars from here. I will not go into great detail as this op is mainly on the car. He saw a 1999 model C class (so back...

Review of Mercedes C 200

Expensive Car but Cheap Feeling

Advantages: Good interior
Disadvantages: Gas guzzler!

...flash red case under the bonnet, and the car speeds along a treat – it really is a joy to ride and it is very simple to go along with. But I’m more in to the kit it carries… Commonality… I noticed that this category had not yet been written in, and indeed the Mercedes C200K is not a very common car upon our great British tarmac roadways [that said in a very pompous voice]. You see, we are rather xenophobic here in the land of Eng. There is a rather long waiting list to get hold of these cars, and I can tell you that at my company, in my ‘class,’ it is the most common request, with most people having to wait up to six months at the company before their gleaming new car is delivered to them. Our roads do not see many of these cars – there are plenty of the bog-standard C180s and quite a few...

Beautiful Mercedes

Advantages: Fuel Economy
Disadvantages: Interior

...the BMW 320d and the Audi A4 1.8 tdi cant offer! The internal styling of the C-class is unfortunately not as exceptional as its fuel economy. The boring fake wood and neverending dark leather and plastic does not harmonise with the beautifully curved exterior body, and many friends have commented on how dissapointinly unluxurious the interior is. I do believe this is mercedes' downfall when comparing it with Audi and BMW! The C220 cdi will set you back about £20000 on the road if you bought a new one today. However a second hand 2000 model would cost about £13000 with about 30000miles. This shows the excellent depreciation value that mercedes' have, and when your spending £20000 on a car its all important. Another aspect when considering price is the spare parts cost. Unfortunately spare mercedes parts are not cheap and the expertise...

MERCEDES C220 CDI HAS FLARE AND COMES ABOVE AVERAGE

Advantages: SMOOTH RIDE, HANDLES WELL , PRESTIGE BADGE
Disadvantages: NIGGLES CAN BE EXPENSIVE ,BUY THE FACELIFT MODEL

...however I would have another Mercedes but would go for the late 2004 facelift model as by then the overall interior look had got better and the qaulity in build had returned. If you are looking for a family vehicle with a Prestige badge the you will not go far wrong with a C-class BUT make sure you stay on top of the services and overall upkeep of the car . This can be expensive to do but well worth doing in the long run....

Unreliability

Advantages: Some good accessories, comfortable ride
Disadvantages: Poor reliability, expensive servicing, disgraceful aftercare

...I own a 2002 (52 plate) Mercedes, C200, Avantgarde, Kompressor and feel I must let you know (the public) about the vehicle I bought. I am not a "boy racer" but a sixty year old male who has never experienced such unreliability in 40 years of driving with the more common cars (Fords, Vauxhalls etc.). This car was a 6 month old demonstrator with 7,500 miles on the clock and I paid £ 21,500 for it in 2003. It required a replacement CD player and wing mirror (whilst in warranty). Whilst it was in warranty I also complained about the noise coming from the engine but was told there was nothing wrong with it. Since 55,000 miles it has needed: 1) A new mass air flow sensor for the engine (a static component) 2) A new cylinder head gasket (a static component) 3) Another new wing mirror (due to defective wiring for the indicator) 4...

Our A Class Mercedes .....

Advantages: Very Economical, Small, Nippy, Compact, Easy To Park !!
Disadvantages: Several Blind Spots Throughout The Car !!

...the alloy wheels as we have lost the occasional wheel trim and they are £16 plus VAT. These cars come with an alarm complte with motion sensors, and a mecedes factory fitted immobiliser as standard and this is activated by a remote control key fob in which the ky is also very neatly stored. The security is excellent - although the alarm has gone off for no reason in the summer - we think it is because of the heat (always on very hot days) The dashboard is all LED display and it even alerts you as to when it needs a service. We have had ours from new and are very happy, its a nice car and a lot of car for the money - functions wise. But not the biggest car or the roomiest if you are like me and quite tall the long wheelbase version is definately a better option. We purchased ours from the garage Mercedes Direct, we have a good...
