Mercedes SLK 230

Advantages: Very stylish, nice to own and drive.
Disadvantages: Very little luggage space with the roof down.

...We purchased our first SLK in March 1998. The first sports car we had owned. It was sitting there in the local Mercedes dealer's showroom and following a test drive we decided to buy it. At the time, this Mercedes dealership afforded a first class service and was a pleasure to deal with, but more about that in another opinion. What a brilliant piece of engineering this car was with it's folding roof, watching the whole thing disappear into the boot at the touch of a button. The bodywork was finished in silver with a black leather interior, the best combination, in my opinion. It had the standard 7 spoke polished alloys fitted and again, these 16" wheels suited the car really well. Later styles of 16" wheels fitted to the facelift SLK 230 are not so appealing in my view. Mercedes 320 SLK

Advantages: Lots of admiring glances
Disadvantages: People don't let you out of junctions !

...I bought a 320 SLK after many trips to the local Mercedes garage and after test driving a few CLKs and the new Coupe. The SLK was the only one I got out of with a smile on my face, and it was a big one! So rather than buy one big CLK to load up with miles I bought a 1.2 Corsa for running around and an SLK for nice days. Performance is enough to get you into trouble in the wet but the traction control always kicks in before you realise you've even had a problem. The flashing light on the dash tells you you almost did! The sound from the engine is fantastic - especially with the roof down - it's like being in a computer game. Handling isn't quite what I'd expected. I'd had a couple of BMW coupes before and the SLK feels a bit bouncy compared to them - comfy rather than taught. Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor.

Advantages: It's a hard top, it's a convertable.
Disadvantages: Running costs.

...This is very much initial thoughts as I have only owned my Merc for 3 weeks. I did own a new shape Nissan Micra but had yearnings for something a little different. First thoughts were for a Jaguar X-Type but the more I looked at them the less they impressed. Thoughts then turned to a convertable. After research on the internet I visited a local dealer to view a Toyota MR2 but soon realised this could only be a second car due to it's none existant boot!! MERCEDES C220 CDI HAS FLARE AND COMES ABOVE AVERAGE

Advantages: SMOOTH RIDE, HANDLES WELL , PRESTIGE BADGE
Disadvantages: NIGGLES CAN BE EXPENSIVE ,BUY THE FACELIFT MODEL

...about it although every other Taxi is fast becoming a Mercedes diesel.!! The car never surprised me on speed off the mark but from 70 onward it did seem too fly with ease.Once I had started the engine from cold and woke the street up with the "clack-clack" it did please me ,as when warmed up and at normal Motorway speeds it went along qiutely without having to have the radio / cd up too loud. The finish of these vehicles is very good with soft plastics and Leather being used and the wind noise is very negligable at any speed. I did find the seats a little unsupportive and I wish I had gone for heated seats on the more cold winter mornings as the heater took an age to get up too a warm blow. The economy with the Diesel engine and Automatic gears seemed ok on long journeys but I saw a difference of MPG when you go over 65mph in comparison...

Mercedes A160 - All things, for all men

Advantages: Interior Space, Visibility, Excellent engine & transmission

Beautiful Mercedes

Advantages: Fuel Economy

...the BMW 320d and the Audi A4 1.8 tdi cant offer! The internal styling of the C-class is unfortunately not as exceptional as its fuel economy. The boring fake wood and neverending dark leather and plastic does not harmonise with the beautifully curved exterior body, and many friends have commented on how dissapointinly unluxurious the interior is. I do believe this is mercedes' downfall when comparing it with Audi and BMW! The C220 cdi will set you back about £20000 on the road if you bought a new one today. However a second hand 2000 model would cost about £13000 with about 30000miles. This shows the excellent depreciation value that mercedes' have, and when your spending £20000 on a car its all important. Another aspect when considering price is the spare parts cost. Unfortunately spare mercedes parts are not cheap and the expertise...

Our A Class Mercedes .....

Advantages: Very Economical, Small, Nippy, Compact, Easy To Park !!
Disadvantages: Several Blind Spots Throughout The Car !!

...the alloy wheels as we have lost the occasional wheel trim and they are £16 plus VAT. These cars come with an alarm complte with motion sensors, and a mecedes factory fitted immobiliser as standard and this is activated by a remote control key fob in which the ky is also very neatly stored. The security is excellent - although the alarm has gone off for no reason in the summer - we think it is because of the heat (always on very hot days) The dashboard is all LED display and it even alerts you as to when it needs a service. We have had ours from new and are very happy, its a nice car and a lot of car for the money - functions wise. But not the biggest car or the roomiest if you are like me and quite tall the long wheelbase version is definately a better option. ...Stumbled across a single review of this vehicle which struck me as too eulogistic to be of much use. I live in Europe where attitudes to Mercedes products are less reverential and have had a manual transmission E220 CDi since Oct.2003 (which I'd like to sell). This model with 150 bhp/340nm. has effectively been superceded since July 2006 by a revised model with 170bhp and approx 400nm. and which among some 2000 changes has done away with the brake by wire system and probably other curiosities as well. Any German-speaking reader should look at ownership surveys, such as in Auto Motor und Sport 10 November 2004 edition. It is certainly a roomy, comfortable car to drive with good ride quality, low noise levels and fuel consumption and enough middle-range performance to perform very well on motorways. Mercedes S Class - The worlds best luxury car - FACT!

Advantages: Fully loaded luxury motor leaving passengers and drivers wanting for nothing.
Disadvantages: Can be expensive if it goes wrong if you can't find the best repairshop. Initial outlay cost.

.... In the town it can be quite thirsty but when you open her up on the motorway she is extremely frugal. Overall the S is to me the undisputed king of the road. It ticks all the boxes of luxury, technology and roadworthiness and I genuinely smile everyday that I get to take her out on the road. If you are looking for a decent saloon car then take a look at the S class. For the prices around today I am confident you can find one that looks after you for many years to come. I know mine will! Mercedes S Class S280 was purchased in 2008 from a local dealer. I swapped my Mercedes SLK 230 for the vehicle but the valuation at that time was around £8000. I am aware that there are other vehicles available at cheaper prices today. Autotrader has plenty of them but make sure you test every piece of equipment on the car before you part with the money...

Advantages: Bargain, good all round, nippy car,

...What a car. It has a list price of around £14000 but it is readily available at car supermarkets for just £12,000. What a bargain. For the same price as a Ford Focus you can have a MERCEDES. Not only does the A class combine style, space and value it also offers a great drive. The 1.4 litre engine is a superb unit providing around 40mpg without compromising on performance. 0-60 is knocked up in around 12 seconds and a top speed of 110mph is more than enough. This care really does feel faster and sporties than the figures suggest. The sharp brakes and suspension make driving around town a pleasure. The level of equipment provided as standard is superb - half leather seats, electric sunroof + windows, steering adjust, remote central locking, alarm/immobiliser, driver, passenger and side airbags, traction control, heated mirrors...
