Mercedes CLK 230 Kompressor Coupé

Advantages: A super stylish motor car
Disadvantages: Expensive

...Once again, a review of a discontinued model (!), but here are my thoughts on my 1999 Mercedes CLK 230 (W208) Kompressor Coupe, in Elegance trim. Bought in 2001, with one previous owner (originally registered in 1999 so its an "S" reg) and 25,000 miles, my CLK has now done 72,000 miles and is soon to be sold as the baby seat doesn't fit in the back ! Mine is the 230K (4 cylinder, 2,295cc), and turns out 197 bhp with a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds (the manual is a claimed 9.1 seconds, as opposed to my 5 speed automatic) on its way to a top speed of 136mph - although I clearly couldn't claim to have ever gone that fast, officer.... Also available is a 3.2 V6, a 4.3 V8, and the ultimate, the CLK55 AMG high-performance model. The "Elegance" trim means walnut wood inlays in the doors and centre console, plus a chrome strip around...

Mercedes S500

Advantages: A car to judge all others...
Disadvantages: 25mpg (though the benifits do out way this)

...I purchased this magnificent car about 4 months ago. You hear the likes of Jeremy Clarkson say... "if you want to know whats going to be fitted in cars in the next 10 years, well look in an S class." I actually have the S500 Limo Petrol model, that 5.0 litre V8 engine is more than enough to get this sizable car accellarating in an instant. This car brings new meaning the the words "spacious" and "luxurious". All seats are electricly movable (even the back seats) which boast heating and air conditioning inside which is very very nice on those hot days. Enless other gadgets such as electric blinds, fridge, TV/DVD, car phone, voice recognition, distronic and triptronics make this car the ultimate vehicle which all others are judged by. Concidering buying one ? Take me word for it, it will be the best purchase you have...

Classic 500SL

Advantages: Affordable luxury motoring
Disadvantages: Buyers beware!!!!

...Tomorrow is a sad day. I'm going to drive my much loved 500SL from Glasgow to Cheshire where it's new owner will be waiting. The car was new in 1988 and cost the lucky buyer over £40,000. After looking at many examples I eventually found this one and bought it in 2000. The car was in great condition having covered 68000 miles from new. Everything was right about the car, no rust, a full dealer history, a recent service and an enthusiatic owner. This review is for anyone considering buying an older car. It can be a great joy and relatively cheap but only if you're careful on day one. This model of Mercedes, known as the r107, was one of the most prestigous car of it's time. The build quality is superb and with proper care the car will go on for ever. My car has been a pleasure to own and I have been fortunate with the choice...

Mercedes A160 - All things, for all men

Advantages: Interior Space, Visibility, Excellent engine & transmission
Disadvantages: Looks a bit like Camilla Parker-Bowles, head on.

Beautiful Mercedes

Advantages: Fuel Economy

...the BMW 320d and the Audi A4 1.8 tdi cant offer! The internal styling of the C-class is unfortunately not as exceptional as its fuel economy. The boring fake wood and neverending dark leather and plastic does not harmonise with the beautifully curved exterior body, and many friends have commented on how dissapointinly unluxurious the interior is. I do believe this is mercedes' downfall when comparing it with Audi and BMW! The C220 cdi will set you back about £20000 on the road if you bought a new one today. However a second hand 2000 model would cost about £13000 with about 30000miles. This shows the excellent depreciation value that mercedes' have, and when your spending £20000 on a car its all important. Another aspect when considering price is the spare parts cost. Unfortunately spare mercedes parts are not cheap and the expertise...

An Excellent car in almost every way!

Advantages: Good Looks, Amazing roof, comfortable
Disadvantages: a bit "safe" for my liking!

...The Mercedes-Benz SL500 is still regarded as one of the most aspirational cars currently available. The combination of the sharp coupe styling matched with the incredibly clever roof system make this car one of, if not THE, most attractive cars of all time. The cabin gives an air of quality and the plastics in the dash all feel to be well manufactured. The doors, like most two door cars, are very large and if you decide to pop down to the local supermarket for supplies you will have to be careful as to where you park, I lost count of the number of times that I parked, in what I considered to be a safe & out of the way place, only to return to my car to find that somebody had parked so close that I could not get in through the door! When the roof is up and you?re driving in coupe mode the luggage space is good, more than enough space...

Mercedes 320 SLK

Advantages: Lots of admiring glances
Disadvantages: People don't let you out of junctions !

...I bought a 320 SLK after many trips to the local Mercedes garage and after test driving a few CLKs and the new Coupe. The SLK was the only one I got out of with a smile on my face, and it was a big one! So rather than buy one big CLK to load up with miles I bought a 1.2 Corsa for running around and an SLK for nice days. Performance is enough to get you into trouble in the wet but the traction control always kicks in before you realise you've even had a problem. The flashing light on the dash tells you you almost did! The sound from the engine is fantastic - especially with the roof down - it's like being in a computer game. Handling isn't quite what I'd expected. I'd had a couple of BMW coupes before and the SLK feels a bit bouncy compared to them - comfy rather than taught. MERCEDES C220 CDI HAS FLARE AND COMES ABOVE AVERAGE

Advantages: SMOOTH RIDE, HANDLES WELL , PRESTIGE BADGE
Disadvantages: NIGGLES CAN BE EXPENSIVE ,BUY THE FACELIFT MODEL

...about it although every other Taxi is fast becoming a Mercedes diesel.!! The car never surprised me on speed off the mark but from 70 onward it did seem too fly with ease.Once I had started the engine from cold and woke the street up with the "clack-clack" it did please me ,as when warmed up and at normal Motorway speeds it went along qiutely without having to have the radio / cd up too loud. The finish of these vehicles is very good with soft plastics and Leather being used and the wind noise is very negligable at any speed. I did find the seats a little unsupportive and I wish I had gone for heated seats on the more cold winter mornings as the heater took an age to get up too a warm blow. The economy with the Diesel engine and Automatic gears seemed ok on long journeys but I saw a difference of MPG when you go over 65mph in comparison...
