London Mercure - just what the doctor ordered!

Advantages: Very close to Tate Modern, and Southwark tube station
Disadvantages: Located on the other side of the river from the likes of Oxford Street

...I stayed at the London Mercure London City last weekend as part of a birthday treat from my boyfriend (I believe he booked it as part of a deal with rail tickets/show tickets/hotel, so am unable to tell you how much the hotel costs separately!). We stayed there for one night (a Saturday) after spending the day shopping in Oxford Street and the evening watching Phantom of the Opera at the London Palladium. We were able to check-in from 2 o'clock onwards, and we arrived at approximately 5pm. We were greeted at reception by a member of staff and a trainee, and were offered a smoking or non-smoking room. We opted for a non-smoking room and were given room 502 on the 5th floor. Room 502 is just a few steps away from the lift, and is forwards facing so you can see straight out into Southwark Street. A week at the Mercure...

Advantages: Reasonably priced!
Disadvantages: Rooms basic.

...I stayed at the Mercure in December 2005. It was a bit of last minute booking - booked it on the Friday and then travelled on the Monday. Due to this it was the literally the only place in central London available for the week and prior to this I had never even heard of the hotel! Location - It is literally just behind the Tate Modern and Millenium Bridge. It is about 10mins walk from the hotel to the nearest tube at London Bridge so it is relatively easy to get about. Rooms - Rooms are basic. Similar to staying in an Ibis or Travellodge. They do have everything you need though - TV, tea and coffee facilities etc. And they seemed clean. Facilities - The hotel has a small gym. In has a restaurant and bar but I never ate or drink so can't comment on this. Staff all seemed relatively friendly. Price - It was between £60...

Indesit IS70C scored Gold!

Advantages: the indesit IS70C is lightweight and extremely quiet when on. It holds a massive 7kg of clothes
Disadvantages: The indesit IS70C has really no disadvantages other than the fact it is only energy efficient C

...I decided a few months ago due to having electric heaters than i need a tumble drier to dry my laundry being in a top floor flat. I shopped around for a good three days looking for a condenser tumble dryer that was excellent value for money which provided a machine that had a large capacity and was easy to use. I stumbled across the indesit IS70C which was everything i was looking for. It was simple to use, extremely quiet and had a massive 7kg clothes capacity and an amazing 5kg water condenser capacity. Having never brought a seperate tumble dryer before i had reservations however these soon faded. The indesit IS70C has excellent performance drying clothes extremely well and giving off little heat. Disadvantages: Very bad experience

...I strongly advise travellors to avoid Grand Mercure Bangkok for following reasons: 1. What you see in the photos is NOT what you stay, especially some of the deluxe rooms have not been renovated at all and feel entirely old (1-star?). This is very dishonest because we get an impression of the hotel in pictures that is far from reality. 2. They confirmed my internet booking but on arrival were unable to provide the non-smoking room reserved and put me in a smoking room on a smoking floor. They offered NO REFUNDS even if I wanted to change hotel. 3. They promised to move me to a non-smoking room the next day, even told me the new room number -- but the next day they gave that room to another customer and told me to stay in the same room as the hotel was fully booked. 4. Fuji FinePix F70EXR - slimline super-zoom

Advantages: Features, Low-light capability
Disadvantages: A little confusing to master and a little too expensive

...The Fuji FinePix F70EXR is billed by the manufacturer as the slimmest 10x zoom camera on the market and, at less than 23mm in depth, it is certainly very easy and convenient to carry around. The zoom is great for magnification, being the equivalent of 27-270mm in 35mm terms, but I found it to be a little fuzzy at the long end. There is also a 4x digital zoom for anyone who wants it. The FinePix F-series cameras are renowned for their low-light (high ISO) capabilities and the F70EXR should be no exception, sharing as it does the 1/2 inch sensor of the F200EXR but with 2 million fewer pixels crammed onto it. ...Unfortunately the hotel where I normally stay in Bremen was fully booked. It was probably my own fault for leaving the booking so late and was not helped by the travel agent 'forgetting' to make a booking. With the Intercity full, I was sent to the Mercure. I had seen the hotel from the outside many times as it's on the Bahnhofplatz, directly opposite the main entrance to the station. Seen from outside the main impression is that this is a big hotel - stretching right from the corner across several shops and bars. My expectation based on too many nights in Accor-group hotels is that anything less than Novotel in the Accor-family is likely to be pretty poor. Advantages: Amazing features, easy to use,

...I decided to get a new phone because I had trouble getting signal in my local area with my old network. I went into the store without any idea which phone I wanted and to be honest nothing really jumped out at me. I wanted a small phone with all the usual features, camera, music etc but most of the phones seemed quite big. The salesperson showed me a few and then showed me the N70. I wasn't 100% sure but I liked the fact it had a lot of features and the screen size is relatively big. The only thing that put me off was that it appeared to be quite chunky. When I compared it to me old phone, the Motorola V3 however, I realised it wasn't much bigger.
