The plot
************************
As the title suggests the two part film/drama is about Merlin's life, original broadcast on Channel 4 (around Christmas time 1998). A magical tale of myth and magic of old ways (pagans) and of new ways (Christians). A tale of enchantment, a world of Faeries, Griffins, Gnomes, dragons and other fantastical beasts. There are epic battles between good and evil, good kings and bad kings. An evil sorceress trying to save the old ways, Merlin trying to stop her and find a moral good king to take the throne to bring peace and harmony to the world. Filled with powerful love...

Review of Merlin (DVD)
Advantages: Unlimited 12 month access to the attractions Disadvantages: It has restrctions in February, August, October and December (2009 so far)
...Introduction:
I heard of Merline Annual Pass from the Tesco clubcard deals and friends.
From our friends' past experience, it is very good value for money as you can jump the queues to some major attractions in London such as the London Eye. Without the pass, you may queue for hours. Based on our friends recommendation I took the plunge for our family.
How much does it cost?

...Merlin Series 1 Complete DVD
Contains: 6 Discs
Duration: 13 hrs
Cast list: Colin Morgan, Bradley James, Anthony Head, Richard Wilson, Katie McGrath, Angel Coulby
Got this as a present so i was able to follow how it all started. Even being on my early 30's i still enjoy watching fantasy and magical films especially with my little one. I believe that there's something worthwhile with those film. It's not only about the adventure of the story and the happy endings but also the moral lesson and good values that children can pick up. So when a friend gave me the 1st series. I've ask everyone to join me and so we enter the kingdom of camelot!
KINGDOM
Set in the mythical city of camelot, this magical adaptation of the Arthurian legend follows Merlin's early adventures in court of King Uther and his encounters with young...
Advantages: Parts of a fight scene towards the end Disadvantages: The whole piece, in front of and behind the camera
...Arthurian legend is one the most famous fantasy tales ever, made even more magical by the presence of Merlin, King Arthur's magician. Some stories would have you believe different versions, with one of the more recent versions being that starring Clive Owen as Arthur, giving it more of a Crusades twist.
However, the twist on the tale here attempts to visit Arthur and Merlin many years on, taking us down a different path with the tale, and adding a modern setting to a large part of it. The trouble is, it doesn't quite come off. In fact, it's a dire representation of cinema, in many ways.
First off, the plot was immensely confusing to begin with. Scenes in modern day England greet us after a brief intro in Arthurian times, designed to explain to us what happened. We get the general gist that Arthur's evil enemy, Mordred, has used his...
Advantages: Price and service Disadvantages: None to date
...I have used Merlin cycles for over 10 years and have always found their mail order service to be excellent. Goods products always at competitive prices. My first contact with Merlin was when I need ed some wheels, following a good review in MBUK I took the plunge and purchased a set and have never looked back since. Although they now mainly do their business throught their website you can still give them a call for any advice you may need or to check on delivery, something that seems to be missing in this new email world. Customer service with goods prices what more could you want. If you go up to the Lake District like me occasionally why not call in to their shop and see before you buy....

Review of Merlin Cycles
Advantages: Very Easy Listening Disadvantages: A Little Repetitive
...Medwyn Goodall is one of my favourite composers of "new age" music. I find his music very relaxing and inspirational on the whole.
Merlin is the second CD of a trilogy set. The first is Druid and the third is Excalibur (see my reviews of those too). The set is released on the New World Company label and is available in most new age shops or on their website www.newworldmusic.com and is also available on Amazon.
The CD is approximately 43 minutes long and has seven tracks, as follows:
Myrrdin
Mystic Potions
Tyntagyll
Lady of the Lake
The Sword
Alchemy
Druid's Return
Throughout the CD the music flows very gently, washing over you in waves. There are no dramatic tempo or volume changes making it perfect for relaxing in the bath or meditation. It is also very good background music as it does not really grab your...
Advantages: Well written, based on legends and myths but also plausible. Disadvantages: A bit slow-paced.
...I originally picked up this book never having heard of Mary Stewart or her highly popular Merlin series. Stewart is a fairly popular novelist who is best known for her Merlin series which blends historical fiction with fantasy.
The Crystal Cave is the first of five novels in the Arthurian series ( three of which focus on Merlin) and covers Merlin's childhood and young adulthood in fifth century Britain.
Merlin is the illegitimate son of a Welsh Princess and is at best tolerated by the members of his family. His mother will not name his father and this enrages Merlin's grandfather who is King. He is seen as a nuisance but is also regarded as strange as he has visions.
When Merlin's uncle tries to poison him, seeing him as a threat, he has to run from the court in order to survive. His flight leads him to a strange cave in the hills...
Advantages: A good, solid, session ale Disadvantages: Lacks complexity
...Broughton Ales Ltd is a small family-owned brewery founded by David Younger, a descendant of the George Younger brewing family of Alloa, in 1980. It is situated in the pretty little village of Broughton (Brote-un), near Biggar in the Scottish Borders. It was one of the first of the new generation of Scottish breweries.
This is an area of Scotland which is rich in history and famous for its Border Keeps and Castles which date back to the 13th and 14th centuries. In those days, Ale Wives would have brewed the beers which form the basis for today's recipes which are utilized at the Broughton brewery.
Some of the beers that Broughton are responsible for include:Greenmantle, Black Douglas, The Ghillie, and the subject of this review,
Merlin's Ale.
"This beer takes its name from the legendary Merlin. After the battle of Adderyd...
