Fancy sharing your bath with a mermaid??

Advantages: fun toy for the bath

...MY daughter is a big fan of Dora the Explorer so she was highly delighted when she received this Dora Swim and Splash Mermaid as a present from her nan on her fourth birthday. I was also very pleased because this is a bath toy and most of the bath toys we have, we have had since the girls were babies so they seem to have outgrown most. The toy is about 25 cm tall and although it has Dora's face, instead of legs she has a mermaid's tail. She has long black hair and a beautiful jewelled necklace around her neck. I'm sure that my daughter would be perfectly happy just to play with her in the bath as she is (because she thinks she is so pretty), even if she did nothing extra at all! Advantages: Lovely book for fairy and mermaid mad little people!
Disadvantages: None unless you don't like them!

...A lovely book for anyone who loves fairies and mermaids and wants to draw and paint them. This was a definite for little miss who seems to spend all her time drawing pictures of fish tailed ladies and those little flying ladies and girls. The book gets straight onto the descriptions of how to draw them, without any long forward or explanantion as to how the book should be used. After all, if you buy the book, you want to learn how to draw them not be told how to use the book! It is divided into two page spreads detailing the drawing or painting of diiferent types of mermaids and fairies, startin, naturally enough, with simple fairies. Other activities include Love Heart fairies, Rainy Day fairies, Fairy Paperchain, Mermaids' Tea party, Mermaid door sign. In all, there are 17 activites, so more than enough to keep little people...

...I would love to visit all the capital cities of Europe, so naturally, last October, when I was given the opportunity to go to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, I grabbed it with open hands! I have always loved Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, so with Copenhagen once being his home, I was absolutely delighted to be going. The Little Mermaid was one of the first attractions we visited because we really wanted to see it and we were only there for four days. We didn't realise when we first set off but The Little Mermaid was quite a long distance from our hotel. It must have taken a good 45 minutes to walk there. This Oscar-winning feature film is Disney at its very best......HOWEVER: The quality of the DVD is inferior. There are no 'extras' whatsoever. You get the film and nothing else. There are no trailers, no director's commentaries, no behind-the-scenes peaks, nothing! The Little Mermaid.

Advantages: A beautiful animated coming of age film.
Disadvantages: Not enough screentime for the very main characters.

...I remember watching this film years ago as my family has always been a big fan of Disney cartoons i.e Beauty and the Beast, Basil the Great Mouse Detective etc. After I watched this film I remember being in the bath when I had long hair that I could sit on, and I used to pretend that I was a mermaid. I would submerge myself and see my hair floating around me as I tried to imagine I was Ariel. As a child this film was so far removed from my own childhood that it seemed to be fantastic to me! Living under the sea and singing along (and being a princess as well) seemed to be an ideal world. But the grass is always greener... The film opens with a concert for King Triton ruler of the seas for which the crab Sebastian is conducting. It is supposed to feature the singing talents of all seven of the kings daughters introducing his youngest...

Complexity of Relationships

...Mermaids is the 1990 movie on which The Perfect Man was based from. I have to admit that I watched the Perfect Man before managing to obtain a copy of the 1990 film. While I do prefer The Perfect Man, I have to say that Mermaids is entertaining in its own manner. It is not exactly The Perfect man, there are quite few twists and it is somehow more intense and profound than the above-mentioned film. In fact, I would say that Mermaids is made up of a lot more serious thematic features than The Perfect Man, and while it was quite entertaining for me to watch, I have to say that there was a couple of disturbing, and sometimes dark elements in the storyline.
