MERTON HOTEL, ST SAVIOUR JERSEY
Advantages: lovely food, polite staff, great swimming pool
Disadvantages: no sea view, small television
...My husband and I have just spent 5 nights at the Merton Hotel in St Saviour in Jersey, Channel Islands.
We stayed from Sundary 2 September 2007 to Friday 7 September 2007 and we had a great stay.
The Merton Hotel is owned by Seymour Hotels and is a 3 star hotel. Jersey have their own system of rating hotels which is different to the UK, but the ratings are of a very high standard.
We stayed in a double ensuite room and we had free half board for the price of bed and breakfast.
We booked through Condor Ferries and took our own car and paid a total of £769 for the trip (£79 of which was for the car ferry travel).
OUR BEDROOM
+++++++++++++++
Our room was plainly and pleasantly decorated, with chrome light fittings everywhere. The furniture was ample, being a built in wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers...

Worcester University
Advantages: Accomodation, Student Union, Sports, Clubs, Library, IT, History
Disadvantages: Expense
...I've been here getting on for around a week now and I must say that I have had an excellent time so far. Before accepting the offer to go Worcester I travelled to it to investigate it and to see if it was for me. After travelling around some of the other universitys that I got into I came to the conclusion that this one was more for me conpared to any of the others.
Size
*********
I've found that its small which makes it quaint in my eyes and from my opinion however I find a city that is huge can be a little too big and can appear scary and overwhelming at times. Worcesters size is perfect offering up Night Clubs, Food, Shops and culture.
The University was originally opened as an emergency teaching college until only recently in the last few years it has been granted the ability to become a university. This means it has being...

The University of Birmingham
Advantages: Great teaching, facilities, opportunites and social life
Disadvantages: i am only here for 3 years, wish it could be more.
...I am a student at the University of Birmingham in my first year of the popular course; Sports and Exercise Sciences. Although it is a difficult university to get in to, there are hundreds of different courses to choose from if you are not accepted on your favoured course. Also, they are quite lenient with grades as I did not achieve the expected marks but still got in... shhh!
So what made Birmingham my number one choice? As soon as I arrived at the open day and got a walk around the campus I knew this was the place for me. Not only is it one of the leading universities in the UK for my course it is a beautiful place to study with its landmark clock tower, luscious all weather pitches and modern redbrick buildings. I felt right at home here and could picture myself studying here for the future.
The Campus is located in Selly Oak...

An Overview of Oxford University
Advantages: High academic standards, reputation, university can be the best years of your life
Disadvantages: Can be seen as stuffy and old-fashioned, a lot of work, may not suit all
...century, and has a reputation for a left-wing JCR.
Brasenose. A sporty college, situated off the High Street in the pleasant Radcliffe Square, but beware of tourists!
Christ Church. One of the largest and richest, Christ Church hosts 422 undergraduates and (as the name suggests) a church. It was founded by Cardinal Wolsey and home of Alice (of ‘in wonderland’ fame, daughter of a former dean). It is situated on St Aldate’s, also near the city centre.
Corpus Christi. Found on Merton Street, this is the smallest college, both in size and numbers (just 300 students, undergraduates and graduates).
Exeter. One of three intensely rivalrous colleges on Turl Street (the Turl Street Riots of 1979 being only a recent example of this feuding) so I’m compelled to tell you how bad they are (even if what is said amongst...

My University
Advantages: great place, great people
Disadvantages: new so still improving
...Introduction
I have been a student at the University of Gloucestershire for 2 years now. I am on a year out, but will be going back to do my 3rd and final year to complete my Business Management degree. My time at the university has been very memorable and I am looking forward to going back and finishing my course. I have thought about whether I made the right decision choosing this university over the large number of other universities available around the country, but I do not regret the decision I have made. I have made many great friends and love the environment of the university.
Campuses
The University of Gloucestershire is split up into four campuses: Park, Francis Close Hall, Oxstalls and Pittville.
Park campus is known as 'The Business School'. Those studying any business related courses, hospitality...

Nottingham Trent University
Advantages: Great Uni. Fact!
Disadvantages: Disadvantages?!
...So, having just finished at Nottingham Trent University it made perfect sense to make this brief review on the place...trust me if I reviewed every aspect of life here that I've experienced it would equate to the length of War & Peace!
Trent is officially the leading "new" university in the country and is predominantly a city-based campus, with two other campuses located at Clifton (about 5 miles south of the city) and Brackenhurst (a very rural campus based to the north-east). I spend three years there and had an awesome time.
In my first year I was based at the Simpsons Halls of Residence, which are in the Lenton area of Nottingham. Although not the nicest area of the city, the halls were certainly some of the best. Having had coursemates and friends who were located at other halls such as Hampden and Sandby which are much closer...

University Life
Advantages: reputation, sports, teaching
Disadvantages: on a hill, shops + banks
...Having been a fresher here at bath for 8 weeks now I feel the need, nay, duty to write a review on the university. I've already done a freshers review on "things beginning with F" if you want to hear about how great (or rather average) freshers week was. But this is going to focus more on the university.
I'm currently on a 4 year physics masters course here at Bath.
--------------------
Reputation
--------------------
I don't believe in league tables and all that rubbish. The trend seems to be that the more time the university spends on fiddling it's figures to make it look good, the less time it can spend on teaching.
I didn't apply to Oxford or Cambridge for two reasons. Firstly, I wouldn't be able to get in. Secondly I know it would be full of people who only applied because of the name and who could succeed better...

Stirling University
Advantages: Broad choice of degrees to study, Lovely surrounding and near to city centre
Disadvantages: no good pubs/clubs on campus and not very good IT facilities
...I currently attend Stirling University and I am doing a degree on Environmental Geography, and in my opinion Stirling University has it all. Not only is there a wide and varied choice of degrees to choose from, there is also flexibility when choosing your modules, especially in the first two years. For example, even though I am currently studying geography, I can choice two other modules to study during the semester ranging from English to history, to sociology to aquatic studies. Thus allow you to have a broad range of knowledge in several subjects. Stirling has great degrees available in sport and nursing as well as English, maths, journalism, languages and many more. I also found that the tutors and lecturers are very friendly and welcoming and in most cases, very good educators.
The university is set in eautiful...

Depression University
Advantages: Looks good on your CV
Disadvantages: Cliquey, boring area, no variety in the people you meet
...Having graduated from Durham University and attended a diffferent one for my doctorate, it is easy to see the negative points of the place upon leaving. The town itself looks beautiful from the outset but after a while, there seems to be a bad atmosphere about the place. There is a tension between local people and the students and because it's such a small place, it is impossible to escape. There is a very narrow choice of things to do in your spare time, either drink in the local pubs (which have more than their fair share of local alcholics) or go to the limited number of nightclubs.
I will say this is all honesty- if you are a metalhead or you like rock music or anything that goes outside of the mainstream, you probably won't be happy in Durham- it's too small of a place to cater for your enjoyment. There are nearby places in...

University - waste of time???
Advantages: Good reputation. Central for most of the UK, good road & rail links.
Disadvantages: Hard work? - wait 'til you get to the real world!
...I write this review as a parent of a student, who has been at this university for three years. During this time, I have visited Coventry many times, both to the university, and the city itself. I have gone in shops, museums, parks, fast food outlets, bars, libraries, and many more places. I have spent a long time in traffic, on the ring road, in & out of car parks, and all over the local area. I now feel qualified to comment. I have made up my own list of Specific Criteria, nothing wrong with the one below, just different.
Location - Very good, near city centre, inside ring road. The shops, bars, fast food, buses, are just right. I believe that the location is very important, it has to be near enough to get home at night for one thing. There are a lot of large heavy pieces of course material to be transported, and most students don...
