...Comet have a Clearance store at a retail park close to me ( its right next to Wembley Stadium actually). There are no elaborate displays, none of the usual inviting colour schemes or layouts, it just looks like an abandoned shop thats being used to clear stock which is basically what it is, just rows of appliances divided up into washing machines, cookers, dishwashers, dryers etc and a section for TVs and other entertainment goods. The products they sell are shop soiled, returns, refurbished and cosmetically damaged in some way. Each item has a sticker telling you what the problem is and everything you buy comes with a full 12 month guarantee. That's Comet NONsense

Advantages: Cheap, good range
Disadvantages: They lie!

...-in model before so didn't think that we had the necessary connections and (b) did they need to see our kitchen first, because the fridge freezer would be positioned some distance from the sink, so presumably the pipe(s) would need to be routed round the back of the kitchen cupboards. Refreshingly good service from Comet.

Advantages: Cheap, efficient, helpful.
Disadvantages: Small range, not enough delivery staff.

...I had not visited Comet for some years, mainly as I thought they were a bit 2nd rate, this seemed to be confirmed by reviews I have read here on Ciao and elsewhere. However, when our washer broke we decided to give Comet a try. There is a local store which has ample parking and is situated on a small industrial estate, so that was helpful for a start. We visited on Good Friday, and were pleasantly surprised at both the easy layout of the shop, and the number of staff working. The products we wanted to look at just happened to be the first display in the shop, and all the washing machines were displayed with their energy ratings, cost and whether or not they were currently in stock. After going to the counter and asking for some assistance, within seconds a really helpful guy appeared and spent some time not only explaining...

Curse the comet

Advantages: can give you encyclopaedia definitions from the comfort of the webpage you are visiting
Disadvantages: spyware, superfluous

Whilst you obliviously let the comet cursor guide people across your websites, you are actually giving a spyware application free rein to reveal your surfing habits to third parties, and pry on your internet habits. Aside from being an example of spyware, what does the comet cursor do? ...I have decided to finally start writing reviews again, after having yet another run in with Comet. I'd say that was about my fifth this year (separate occasions!). In the past I have bought the following items from Comet, all at very low prices: laptop washing machine vacuum cleaner mini disc player Three out of four of those items have caused me hassle. Below I tell you why. In 2002, before going out to France to study, my parents kindly bought me a laptop. It was a cheap one, the last one in the store actually, but everything was working and so we took it. The discs couldn't be found that evening, so they assured that they would be sent on during the next few days. We waited for weeks and then gave them a call about it, explaining that I would be going away and needed them in case I needed to do a system restart...

...Comet, Click and Collect??????????????? It's Christmas, the shops are busy work is long, the days are short, so what did I do? I Clicked and Collected, what a shambles. Our son had seen advertised the "Carlsberg Draughtmaster" and put it on his list for Santa. Looking in the stores it's advertised for £119-00 in John Lewis, so decided to look on-line. Comet had it for £99-00 with Click and Collect. I set to work. I clicked, inputted my postcode and it gave me the nearest Comet to me, very close and they had it in stock. Having Clicked and reserved the item on Wednesday they would keep it till 6-00pm the following day. Thursday I set off to collect the clicked item. I know it's Thursday, and late night shopping and the store has been open all day, but when we walked in at 5-00pm there was one member of staff...

Well I had success by finding a lower spin service model at £149.00 on the Comet website and was about to place my order when I spotted "AUCTION" tab on their website and started to investigate further. WHAT A GREAT SITE. I surfed around finding top brand named machines, some were returns, some with minor damage, a few with a minor part missing. There were end of line items, display items and many boxed with no damage at all. All goods are new and carry a full 12 months manufacturer's gaurantee. The credit option is run through Time Retail Finance (TRF), as a subsidiary of the Kingfisher Group that owns Comet. Interest free should read more like this; Interest free* *As long as you can actually get hold of Time Retail Finance before the date which the balance has to be due to avoid them piling on 24.9% APR interest. Comet delivers the goods

...appliance factory. (I am the last of the big spenders, you know) But when the second dishwasher went it was in a nursery nowhere near the Welsh factory and I had to go shopping. So I let my fingers do the walking on the keyboard and I found www.comet.co.uk. Now, I am impressed by this site. It sells 'b' grade machines at good prices. It works. (Always an advantage and not something you can take for granted with every website, I find.) But the thing that really impressed me was that it has special online prices on certain goods. And on the afternoon of Friday last (This is Thursday) it was selling a perfect D63W Indesit dishwasher for £183. That means they were offering a 25.8% discount over their store price of £239.65. There was a £6 charge for connecting the machine when you bought online, as opposed to £17.95 if you ordered this...

...I have recently persuaded myself to return to comet and give them a second chance after a terrible experience in the past! Unsurprisingly they still seem to be as dysfunctional as ever. Why do they insist (as if we didn't know.) in trying to tell complete bul***it about the products in store? Do they send the staff on non training days in order to wipe their brains of any useful information? I am a reasonable guy and appreciate that staff can only know so much about the products, but to make up information.....? I was trying to buy a digital photo frame for my girlfriend. I knew which one i wanted and with the help of an assistant managed to eventually find the item in the store! i was advised to buy a specific memory card for the frame and a card reader/writer as i had no other devices compatible with that make.
