Advantages: Lovely little hotel
Disadvantages: Limited amenities, but what do youe expect for 2*...?

...yellow walls are accented with black and white photos of classic Miami Beach Deco hotels. Wooden Venetian blinds add to the airy, tropical feeling. The pool's nothing on that at The National - but who needs one ? The ocean's just acress the street ! Also, there's no restaurant, although they do serve a "continental" style breakfast in the lobby - or even on the verandah. There are also a hundered excellent eateries just a few blocks down Ocean Drive, so we didn't find the lack of a restaurant a problem at all. There's also the AMAZING "Jerry's Famous Diner" just around the corner at 1450 Collins Avenue, everything you could ever want for breakfast, lunch and dinner ! As with most South Beach hotels, there's no car park, but a valet parking service is available with a $25 daily fee. Just a reminder that you'll need to give them...

National Hotel, Miami Beach

Advantages: Great hotel, great location
Disadvantages: Not that cheap...

...We stayed at The National Hotel for a few days last summer, on Collins Avenue, one block from Ocean Drive in the heart of Miami's Art Deco Historical District. Built in 1939, the 13-story National Hotel lobby contains original period antiques and richly designed wood furnishings. It was restored in 1997 to showcase the original Art Deco details (the concierge desk is a precise replica of the original from 1939 !), this hotel is a visual delight for Art Deco fans ! It's not a massive hotel (unlike the Loew's just a block down the street), but then most of the South Beach / Ocean Drive hotels are acutally pretty small affairs... Hotel Miami

Advantages: Sits on the Beach
Disadvantages: Pool area always crowded

..., very welcome. Having said that, none of the staff have ever been rude at all. The location of the Hotel is ideal. If you walk out the main reception doors and head for the beach, it is literally, a two minute walk to the sea. I mean the sea. Not the beach. Over the sand and to the waves. If you walk around the pool way to the beach, maybe a 30 second walk? There are plenty of shops around the area and because Es Cana is such a little place,everywhere is within easy walking distance. The nightlife has definitely improved since all those years ago. But I didnt stay out much this year. I'd rather sit at the bar in Hotel Miami and watch the entertainment. (Which I've seen a million times over now...but still insist on watching - mainly because the staff are so friendly and fun!)...

...My husband,myself and our two children have been to Ibiza once before and fell in love with the island, we stayed in the quieter resort of Es Cana and really enjoyed our holiday. After that we decided to return this time taking my parents with us, we chose the Hotel Miami for its location and family friendly reputation, it is also a 3 star hotel which we thought was even better as my parents were used to stopping in 4 star Hotels (adult only ones). We booked through First Choice and arrived in Es Cana in June 2005. Our first impressions of the hotel were good. #ROOMS# Our rooms were adequate and clean with a TV, air con and plenty of storage. ...WHY SRI LANKA YOU ASK? J & I had been to Sri Lanka for a holiday when we first started seeing each other. We had booked a last minute deal & stayed in a guest house . Whilst there we spent our days at the 5* Bentota Beach hotel using the pool & bar, for a small fee of £2 you can go to any hotel & use their facilities.This is a nice way of checking out the other hotels & generally being nosey.We fell in love with the place & decided then that if we went back we would stay at the hotel.One of the main things that had swung it for me was the resident elephant who was also part of the wedding ceremony. Sri Lanka or Ceylon as it was once known is an Island off the southern tip of India in the Indian Ocean .It is a ten & three quarter hour journey if flying direct.There are sometimes stopovers in the Maldives which is a wonderful place...

This is one of my memories of the Kombo Beach Hotel where I stayed when I visited the Gambia. We were a little concerned visiting Africa with the children, especially as we were on honeymoon at the time and the kids were really too little to be on their own. ...If you are looking for a relaxed holiday with not too many frills then the Ledra Beach is for you. Its a friendly and inviting hotel with excellent food I have to say.....probably one of the best advantages of this hotel. The accommodation is a little tired but nontheless comfortable and clean. An animation team keep you entertained day and night with a few outside acts a couple of times a week. Aqua aerobics, childrens games, quizzes keep you occupied through the day. We booked an all inclusive holiday and we had no complaints whatsover with the choice, variety and quality of food, it has to be one of the best menus on the island in any hotel! ...I have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday at the Silver Beach Hotel, on the East Coast of Mauritius. It's a 3 * hotel, with 5 * service. ACCOMMODATION We arrived at Silver Beach early afternoon, tired from a 12 hour flight. We were given a warm welcome by the staff and had a lovely refreshing cocktail, whilst we filled in our registration card. Our first impression was that the hotel was a little plain and could do with a coat of paint - but that was just the corridors and the exterior of the building.
