Moore of the Same - Yet Slightly Different

Advantages: Thought Provoking - Hilarious in Places
Disadvantages: Overzealous at Times - Highly Controversial

...Despite his patent and rabid distaste for George W Bush (or the entire Bush family for that matter), Michael Moore has used this hapless leader to his distinct advantage. You may recall Moores rather public outburst against the Iraq war nearly a year ago, whilst scooping an award for his roundly excellent docu-film ?Bowling for Columbine?. Essentially, his latest literary offering uses the war on terror as a pretext to launch his own ?Shock and Awe? campaign on the Whitehouse itself. ...Michael Moore is apparently on the decline if you believe anything you see on FOX News but then, the Murdoch backed TV company are renowned Republicans and wouldn't want to encourage anyone reading or watching Moore's rants. If you live in a void and don't know who Michael Moore is, essentially, he is a "Big Fat Stupid White Man" well that's according to Clarke and Hardy and comes from their book of the same title. But more seriously he is a flag waving Democrat and George W Bush's nemesis in the battle between the right and left in the USA. His major breakthrough for most of the western world came with the book Stupid White Men and the release and subsequent Academy Award for Bowling for Columbine. However, us lucky Brits have had the pleasure, if you can call it that, of reading and watching Moore for several years now...

Even Moore Opinionated & Angry!

Advantages: Should reach a large audience being about controversial issues but hilarious and easy to read
Disadvantages: Will the right people a) read it and b) listen and take action?

...Few who watched the 2003 Academy Awards ? the one where most of the actresses wore black as a mark of respect because of the war ? could have missed Michael Moore. Whilst on stage to collect his well-deserved Oscar for ?Bowling for Columbine? Moore made his feelings about the war well and truly known! Yelling ?Shame on you Mr Bush!? whilst the orchestra tried to drown him out (I realise the Oscars may not be the ideal forum for airing your political thoughts but so much for freedom of speech!) Moore gave the most entertaining performance of the whole evening. ...The latest book to head my way is none other than 'RSPV', written by author Tara Moore. Now when I first saw the book I had no idea what it was going to be like. I had never heard of Tara Moore before so her style was going to be completely new to me. However, the cover of the book itself is incredibly attractive. All we see is the neck and lower face of a woman, with a large glittering necklace around her neck. Now for ages I thought this read 'RSUP', and it wasn't until I went to find out more about the author before reading did I realise that this necklace actually read 'RSVP'. The main house was custom built in 1891 for Archibald Colville, the son of one of Scotland's foremost steel dynasties, and have sympathetically upgraded and extended to provide all the comfort and style one would expect from a three star Hotel. Most recent addition is the new bar and lounge area a few years ago - and at this exact moment builders are on site adding decking for a 'beer garden'. Three star accommodation which now has 31 bedrooms - each have en-suite facilities (with bath and shower), plus hairdryer, trouser press, remote control television with satellite, direct dial telephone, data port point and tea and coffee making facilities. Advantages: A must read for anyone who wants to know what's really going on
Disadvantages: Slightly liberal but who cares!

...I knew quite a lot about Michael's work before I read, 'Dude' and it's safe to say he doesn't disappoint. This book is effectively the script for the now infamous ' Fahrenheit 9/11' and much of what is covered in the film is lifted directly from the book. If, like me you think there is something else more pressing that the, 'War on Terror' that Bush and his cronies concocted to secure Afghanistan & Iraq and install pro-American governments all around the world then this book is for you. Michael doesn't dig up any secret internal memos or use government sources for his material. Everything that is written is freely available in the public domain. He exposes the pro-republican press for burying this news with more 'important' issues that face the world today. Such as how a man hiding in a cave in the most barren place in the world...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...
