...Over the years, I reckon I have had most makes and brands attached to my car. From this I have been able to be more picky and choosey when buying my new tyres. I now know whats good, whats bad and what is worth avoiding. Michelin boast being one of the 2 tyre suppliers to the Formula 1 world championship. Yet it fails to pass its lessons leared from the track to the consumer. As much praise as people want to heap on the French Tyre giant, Michelin have always failed to meet my expectations. I have had these tyres twice. Once through coming with my new car and once through buying them as a replacement. When we had our new Ford Escort, it came with Michellin XT all around. 175/70/13's were the size we had. Pilot Exalto - The Duracell of performance tyres.

Advantages: Excellent wet performance, Good cornering, Not too noisy, Fantastic wear resistance
Disadvantages: Poor initial traction, take 500 - 600 miles to wear in

...When my OEM-fit Bridgeston Potenza RE040s finally made it down to the tread-wear indicator I had them replaced with a pair of the new Michelin Pilot Exaltos. In a 205-45/17 fitting these are fairly intimidating beasties. None of your swoopy curves and slashes that look all sexy. Oh no. These purposeful hunks of rubber have three MASSIVE channels running around the tyre combined with some fairly agressive lugs (sipes?) around the outside edge. The mention of an outside edge indicates that these are directional tyres but maybe not in the strictest sense. The Bridgestones had an arrow indicating the direction of rotation the tyres should be mounted in, which ultimately meant that you could only swap the tyres along the same side of the car. The michelin S12 starcross. Motocross tyre

Advantages: One of the best Motocross tyres you can buy.
Disadvantages: The high price!

...The michelin are a well known tyre brand in the motocycle backround. Although they come with a heafty price tag you cant really skimp on a quality tyre, after all on a motorbike you've only got the conatct surface of a human foot on the ground,so a quality tyre can help. A back tyre will set you back around £50. Depending on the surface that you use it on the tyre will generally last a few months of riding. If you feel the tyre when its on the bike its quite soft yet it does the job well. You can see why most of the top riders use this tyre, the pattern is unique.as the name donates it in the shape of a star, providing bloody good grip. I put the tyre on myself although i wouldn't reccomend it, got a few cuts and bruises to show for it, After that i found i pinched the inner tube TWICE, so i gave in and took it to tyre fitter...

...in my opinion, these are the best tyres you can buy for reasonable money, on our customers cars we see excellent life expectancy, toyota landcruisers with michelin MXT fitted (275/70R16) regularly see in excess of 80.000 miles out of the rear tyres, good considering these 4x4's are massive!! toyota avensis fitted with 195/60R15H MXV3A michelin energy tyres have excellent grip and also see around 50,000 miles from the front tyres if driven normally, we never have any compliants about tyre distortion or going out of balance, these tyres also seem t be the best constructed, and need very little (if any) balance weights to balance the tyres when fitting, for those doing lower milage, michelin tyres also seem to have the best resistance to perishing that i have seen, i wholeheartedly reccomend them and use them myself thanks for tking...

Advantages: Very good grip in all weather, especially in the wet.
Disadvantages: The cost and fact that they wear faster.

The next day, they took the repaired bicycle into the yard for testing. After several hundred Meters, the repair failed. Despite this setback, they were still enthusiastic about this pneumatic tyre, and proceeded to made their, own, which didn't need glueing onto the rim. Toyo Tyres

Advantages: great tyres
Disadvantages: Hard to find

...Toyo are a Japanese Tyre manufacturer that not many people have heard of. Yet to me they are the most sexy looking tyre around, if tyres can be sexy! I mean the tread pattern of course! I had toyos all around on my RS Turbo. The grip level was unreal and the depth of tread great. The tyres on my Tub were standard size 195/50/15's and a tyre that low in profile normally loses a lot of its tread in order to cater for the profile. Not the Toyo. It has a very wide tread pattern. Making a lot of contact with the road while giving it enough play to movce around and keep you stuck down. In the wet, the wide tread allowed the car to tip toe through the water rather than slip and slide through it. They dont just cater for quick cars. You can pick up a nice tyre for your family saloon or hatchback too. The range seems to grow...

On a wet road they help make a shorter stopping distance making them a super safe tyre to have on your car. These tyres are designed for, city cars, MPV and family cars. These come as standard on my model of car so have been using this the 2 and a half years I have had it, I have found them to be a brilliant tyre, very long lasting and keeping grip right un-till the end of their lifespan. They also wear evenly so if you buy a set as long as none become damaged they should all be ready for being replaced at around the same time.
