...the maps at Atlas site and view maps with extremely accurate data, but Via Michelin wont pass on the information for 6-12 months. With a traditional GPS you only rarely use rerouting but a "T" one uses it all the time. The traffic data is good but the X970T is not programmed to correctly respond. For example here in Paris when the orbital road, the Periphery is stationary it sometimes routes you down a slip road and back up the returning one excellent saving time but it is not constant. It also fails to make correct correction to the arrival time when it knows you are in stop start or a jam. All in all a sexy product with an excellent music player, easy to work Bluetooth hands free phone. Many additional features not of much use especially as navigation is so difficult and need GPRS. With potential, although I fear it will never be realized...

I recently had a scare, when my trusty TomTom threw a wobbler, and I thought I would need to replace it, I had chance to look around, and remember looking at this particular model, mainly because it looked like my TomTom, I assume it was a copy. I am not saying this is a bad thing, let someone else decide what the customer wants and then provide just that.again, I am pleased to say my TomTom is in working order so I do not need to replace it, if and when I do however, I may well go for this model. At less than £90 it has to be a bargain. This is the cheapest price I could find brand new, so you could get a real good second hand bargain. The basic idea is the same as most of these gizmos, there is a touchscreen, a mains or car charger, a USB lead for connecting to a PC...

ViaMichelin X950, excellent value for money system

Advantages: Clear screen, accurate directions, good support from viamichelin website, slim and lightweight design.
Disadvantages: Battery only lasts 3 hrs.

Advantages: Very good grip in all weather, especially in the wet.
Disadvantages: The cost and fact that they wear faster.

...of course it depends on what you want. They are a fairly soft compound, hence the extra grip, however you have to accept that they will wear faster than some. If money was no object, I would fit them, even though I do not need a "Performance" tyre. Michelin used own the Citroen car company from 1934 until 1976. During the World War 2 , the allies relied heavily on the Michelin range of maps, when planning the Operation Overlord (D-Day landings) on the 6th of June 1944. The size of a tyre is measured thus:- We will take a common size tyre as an example - 195/70R x 16 82 V. Michelin Tyres

Advantages: Well known brand
Disadvantages: Go out of shape.

...have probably heard of them. These are the majority of the tyres you see on cars that have Michelin. They look a lot like a Formula 1 Rain Tyre with the angled grip and asymetrical design. The XGT 4 tyre claims to be able to run for 200 miles even when it is flat! The X One range is for drivers who demand more from their tyres. Have not used these so cant really comment. Like I said, these tyres do tend to lose their shape but can also give you a wide choice if you need a branded tyre. They are an average priced player in the market....

Advantages: Long lasting, brilliant grip

On a wet road they help make a shorter stopping distance making them a super safe tyre to have on your car. These tyres are designed for, city cars, MPV and family cars. These come as standard on my model of car so have been using this the 2 and a half years I have had it, I have found them to be a brilliant tyre, very long lasting and keeping grip right un-till the end of their lifespan. They also wear evenly so if you buy a set as long as none become damaged they should all be ready for being replaced at around the same time. They are not at all road noisy and do not pull the car around at all. They are very good in the wet maybe no as good as they are...

The home page is fairly clearly laid out, with the obvious sections easy to identify - Driving Directions, Maps, Traffic, Weather and The Michelin Guides. Driving Directions - If you are planning a trip, no matter what the distance, with this option you can get a plan of which roads to take. Simply enter a road, or town / area, and the same for your destination, click ok and in a few seconds it creates a route plan for you. The summary will tell you the distance and travel time. You can select km or miles. You can enter the price per litre for fuel, and your average fuel consumption, and it will work out an approximate cost for the journey too, plus take into account any toll roads...

Review of ViaMichelin GPS Navigation Pack

Well, I'm impressed.

Advantages: Easy to use and set up, clear instructions.
Disadvantages: Annoying voice that sometimes insists I'm speeding when I'm not!

...This is my first experience of owning a sat nav, but I've rode in cars equipped with satnavs from various manufactureres. I have found the ViaMichelin X-960 to be an excellent piece of kit. I'll get the annoyances over with first - the first one has to be that there's only two voices to choose from - an irritating schoolmistress and an american lady - both voices get on my nerves after a short while. The second annoyance is that sometimes it tells you off for speeding when you're not - most commonly on an urban 40mph road. Bar those two annoyances, it's a great piece of kit, and fairly easy to customise settings and the menu system is quite easy to use. It comes preloaded with all sorts of useful information, including restaurants that they've rated and I've discovered a few things nearby that I simply didn't know were good...

...Logitech X-540 Surround Sound. I ordered ths off amazon for 49.99, it was sent by courier (Home Delivery Network Ltd) and arrived within 2 days of ordering. Very easy to set up and great price for full 5.1 surround sound. Took 10 mins to hook it up to my Xbox and is amazing while playing Gears of war :D... First thing you notice is the weight contained in the small box the Speakers come in,its about 1ft square and contains 1 Bass and 5 satellite speakers, each individually packed in plastic bags. The bass unit is quite bulky and for optimal quality should be placed on the floor, but if you dont have much room, (like me) then you can put it it behind your TV or something... The base is the main part of the speaker set up, on the back are about 8 jacks for you to plug in the seperate speakers and inputs. Each is colour coded so its...
