I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Advantages: beautiful, thoughtful, genuinly saddening

...Despite being largely a fan of rock music, I do venture into the pop-rock section every now and then in hope of finding something to truly keep me listening. On previous ventures I have discovered Avril Lavigne and Katy Rose (unlikely to know her), but on the latest trip I discovered Michelle Branch. The difference between Avril, Katy and Michelle is that Ms Branch is a genuine singer-songwriter who can write the most beautiful ballad with just the swoosh of a pen.
A household name in the States, she is yet to break the (appalling) mainstream scene in the UK, despite having more natural talent than 90% of the turgid tripe that you see gracing the singles charts this side of the pond. She has also gone on to duet with Carlos Santana and Sheryl Crow, a couple of songs that elevated her status even higher than it already was and she is...

...Yet again Michelle Paver has excelled herself in producing a fantstic story. This book, the fourth in the series, offers all of the thrilling captivation that I have come to expect from Michelle Paver's amazing series. Even asi sit here now I am flicking through the pages, and I am constantly having to stop myself from just opening the book up and starting reading it. Although this book is darker and more lonely than some of the other books, it is still a compelling read.
We rejoin Torak two moons after the events in Soul Eater and once again Torak finds himself in terrible danger, this time from the very clans that he has risked so much to protect. For the mark of the Soul Eaters that was pressed into his flesh has made him an outcast, rejected by his friends and hunted by the tribes of the forest.

...I bought this Album on the first day of its release for my mum, who has also supported Michelle through her whole Pop Idol experience. I decided to listen to the C.D first, to make sure that if there was a problem I could return the C.D in good time.
Looking at the album, I was surprised to find her wonderful version of 'O Holy Night' wasn't on the album. The second thing that struck me, was that on listening to the album, all her tracks were of the same ballard style, with little variation.
Don't get me wrong, I love Michelles style, and every song shows her true talent, but to younger buyers, the C.D may get slightly boring after listening to many similar tracks. To older buyers who can appreciate the meaning of the lyrics rather than whether the song is 'poppy' or not, this will be one of the best albums around.

...Michelle stood up and stretched her arms.
She had been drifting in and out of consciousness in the way only a working man - or woman - could. Spending most of her days tap-tap-tapping away on a keyboard had taken it's toll on her, and her attention span was now at the point where she spent most of the afternoon doing the open-eyed sleep that most office workers have perfected. She snapped out of it in time to see the computer clock flick to 5:10.
"Damn" she swore to herself. She knew she was going to be late at this rate. Hurriedly she threw her things into her bag, grabbing her keys and phone and hammering on the keyboard with a vague hope that it would shut the computer down faster. Sadly, the outburst of violence seemed only to annoy the computer, causing it to dot out a long series of beeps. Guiltily, Michelle stood back...

...I did want to see this at the cinemas when I saw if first come out, except I was too busy and I couldn't arrange anything, so I waited for it to be released on DVD, but still that was expensive so I waited and waited until it became 3 for £20 in HMV and we managed 2 other DVDs to go with it, and bought it.
This film is a great film, its tag-line is: The fairy tale that won't behave. To be totally honest that doesn't help anyone really, and it's not much of a fairy tale to be totally honest!
I didn't know, until recently, that it is an adaptation from the book of the same name, knowing this now, I plan to try and find it, hopefully it'll be cheap, and buy it. You'll have to wait for a review on it, however, as I have too many books and DVDs to review, I really don't know how I'll get through them all, but I do know I'll get to...
