Micro ATX board

Advantages: Good stable board
Disadvantages: Not many PCI slots

...Motherboards are critical to any computer. The selection is wide and the features each contains need to be closely looked at. I was building a new PC and I came across this motherboard. It is a micro ATX board so is alot smaller than any ATX board so therefore has the disadvantage of not having much opportunity for expansion. There are only three PCI slots which is fine if you do not require many but considering that a modem, soundcard and now wireless cards need PCI slots then this does not leave many options if you wish to install these. The board itself has many features and comes with onboard graphics and sound. The advantage of this is that money is saved on needing to buy a graphics card and sound card. mATX - Small, Sound, Old

Advantages: ATX-compatible, Power-efficient, Inexpensive, Supports ATA and SATA
Disadvantages: Obsolete DDR Technology, Unsuitable for Gamers

...and will replace or refund. Verdict I suppose it all comes down to buying or not. The reason I have it is that several parts from my previous rig were only compatible with 487 socket motherboards. Spending extra for a multi-core machine seemed irrational, as the capacities keep increasing faster that the amount of money you need accumulates. Buy if you wish not to get an extra cooler for a 775 or equivalent, feel that a 5 GHz (effective total for P4 with HT) processor suits your needs or you cannot afford an ATX. Do not buy if you have an ATX computer, wish to have plenty of space for fitting many additional devices, require a PCI-E graphics card or DDRII memory. My Dream Machine Motherboard

...Welcome to the fourth installment of my computer component reviews! My motherboard is the 865PE Neo2 - P. I'm assuming that this is the same, it certainly looks the same. MSI is a highly respected motherboard manufactorer and have incorporated the intel 865PE chipset into this fantastic motherboard. Thanks to Rabid's suggestion, I went to the MSI section of overclockers. There I found the one he suggested, below it was this baby. For just £10 more I could have dual DDR RAM, as well as a few other minor enhancements. This board has all the standard features, like AGP 8x, ATA 133 support and 5 PCI ports. It's also got 4 ram slots (with dual DDR ram support and supporting up to 500Mhz RAM on overclock speeds). It supports all pentium 4 chips including the new Extreme and Prescott processors.
