...The ASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard for AMD single-core Athlon 64/ Sempron and Dual-core Athlon 64 X2/ Athlon FX processors using socket AM2 is very user friendly, I went with AMDs 64 x2 3800+ processor in the beginning then moved up to 4200+ 2Gb Ram without any hassle, very easy to setup and fits easily in a standard ATX case. A possible downside to the board is that it has a limited number of slots due to being a micro ATX sized board. That's not a big deal for me as the only two cards I'll be buying in the future is Graphics and a extra Lan card. Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe Motherbaord ACE

Advantages: Has many sata ports, has 4 GPU ports, is able to run at 1066mhz
Disadvantages: Ram can only run at 1066 if processor is quad core.

...The transition from AGP to PCIE was without a doubt extreamly easy. Along with this motherboard, I had 2 Kingston 2GB 1066mhz ram, an AMD Phenom 9950 2.6ghz black edition, an ATI RADEON 4850 HD (1gb, Asus edition) and a 650w Antec Power Supply. The motherbaord an IDE port and many SATA ports which was very useful as i went from using an old IDE hardrive to a SATA hardrive. The IDE and SATA ports are also placed conveniantly on the sides allowing air to flow freely throughout the machine. With this intact the motherboard stays below 45C. I do have 2 other fans on the machine, one on the back and the other on the front. All air is moving out of the PC from the back. The manual that came with the motherboard is exceedingly helpful. It gives you clear information on what ram does and doesn't work with the board, and how to install...

With 4 USB port, 7.1 surround sound audio card, 4 rear USB ports + 2 headers, Printer Port, and even 2 PCI-E 16X for SLi and 2 PCI-E and 2 PCI card slots, which is a good use of the slots available, with the PCI-E sure to be used more in the future, with it's smaller and faster slot. It is a micro ATX board so is alot smaller than any ATX board so therefore has the disadvantage of not having much opportunity for expansion. There are only three PCI slots which is fine if you do not require many but considering that a modem, soundcard and now wireless cards need PCI slots then this does not leave many options if you wish to install these. The board itself has many features and comes with onboard graphics and sound. The advantage of this is that money is saved on needing to buy a graphics card and sound card. The disadvantage of this is that if you do use the onboard graphics it uses your system memory and therefore can slow...

Advantages: Very good cost/benefit ratio, like the overclocking, like the bios
Disadvantages: very bad pin and port placement

...The product performance is good, and definately worth the money. I like the bios, and the express OS built into it (30-second net access). Other good features include the cable connection diagnostics also built into the board. I have one major gripe however, and that is pin placement. WTF was ASUS thinking about when they placed the power supply port on the far end of the opposite side of the board? Or when they placed the SATA ports so close to the HD bays? I've lost use of 2 HD bays, and had to push one HD way into the cabinet, almost into the HD fan. (No problem on the DVD bays). Don't like the forward-facing IDE port, or the floppy port. Also very angry about the placement of the power switch/LED's/sound/reset/etc pins. I have a pin riser from a previous ASUS board which is a fantastic little plug that allows you to connect...

Oh Mother! Asus P5Q PRO ATX iP45

Advantages: soo many, cannot describe them in just few words
Disadvantages: none apparent

...and so I went to open it and so I went to install it and so on only to find out that my old motherboard wouldn't support it. Its BIOS was un-upgradeable (plus few more other reasons) and so I went out again to look for new motherboard. This time I had to have it instantly (yes the very same day) but you wouldn't believe me how very few shops in London sell motherboards. I managed to find one and only ( Asus P5Q PRO ATX iP45) and there I was on my way home with smile totally excited to set it up and get it running. Well again to my dissapointment I realised that this motherboard just won't fit in my old Dell chassis because Dell's speciality is probably custom made hardware or at least motherboards which are fitted in the chassis basically upside down + few extra weird things which are here (in my humble opinion) to prevent you from upgrading...
