Safe as houses . .
Review of Micromark Digital Safe by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Keeps your little valued stuff safe.
Disadvantages: None found as yet.
...Micromark have only been on the go for twenty odd years, but in that time they have gained quite a reputation in the security industry. They actually employ ex criminals to do a lot of the testing of their products.
The company are based in Liverpool, (Head office in London) but are now expanding into China & Hong Kong. They received the Queen's Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2004.
The price of this particular safe is about £40 nowadays, depending on where you buy of course, although I can't remember how much I paid for mine as it was quite a while ago.
These things are now available at a lot of places, especially the larger DIY Superstores and quite a number of large supermarkets.
The Micromark has electronic 4 digit pin code operation, plus a reserve manual key just for emergencies. You will get a warning when...

Micromark Wirefree Alarm System
Review of Micromark Wirefree Dual Powered Alarm. by
Mrcellcept
Advantages: Easy to Install
Disadvantages: Has a mind of its own!
...Originally bought this alarm after realising the walls to my house are half a metre thick. Not good for drilling cable holes.
Anyway, it was easy to install and looks just like a wired alarm. However, after only a week, we had real trouble disarming the system. This was particularly problematic when coming back from a night out at 3am, not something the neighnours appreciate at all. The key ring disamer and the keypad intermittantly fail to disarm the system.
Spoke to Micromark who suggested lots of little things that didnt work, even suggested changing batteries which were just a week old!
I took it back in the end, to Argos where I bough it who gave me a new shiny one. This I installed using instructions to the letter and had no problems for about a week.
Then the system managed to find a mind of its own and armed itself...

Gives A Good Amount Of Heat
Review of Glen Electric Convector Heater 2171 by
Toady
Advantages: Seep op
Disadvantages: None
...I live in a flat without central heating so having a heater that is reliable and gives out enough heat is really important. I had another brand of heater but after one knock form my young son it failed to work anymore. The Glen make is the best I have found.
The heater can be used free standing on two feet, which are supplied with it but it also can be mounted on to the wall by the four brackets, which are also supplied.
When you first switch the heater on you should open a window as a small amount of non-toxic fumes will be given off, this is just a protective coating around the element being burnt off.
The heat output is 2000 watts and is thermostatically controlled.
The mains neon will light when the heater is on.
The heater has carrying handles for easy positioning but you must never move the heater while on.
I brought...

Teasmade
Review of Micromark MM9889 TEA Maker by
larmal2
Advantages: Stylish, compact and easy to use.
Disadvantages: Poor durability
...or element. However, with Micromark, it always tastes good - even from the beginning and first use. The downside for me was, mine 'failed' within twelve months, but unfortunately I did not have the receipt, and so could not claim under guarantee. The Swan model I had despite the yukky tea sometimes, was more durable.
However, I've since purchased the 'new' updated model from Micromark and am currently delighted. Let's see how long this lasts!
I'm holding on to my receipt this time! : - }...

Nikkai Heater
Review of Unbranded FAN Heater by
angel530
Advantages: Immediate warmth
Disadvantages: none
...I bought this heater because my bedroom has two outside walls and as it's a downstairs extension one of those 'walls' is a patio door and so, especially in the winter I needed some extra warmth in my room.
I went out and after looking around at a few different heaters I eventually decided on the Nikkai Electric heater. There were three reasons for my choice:
1. Id had the rectangular shaped heaters and found that although they did effectively heat up the room it took a while for you to get the full benefit of the heater, I hoped that this fan heater would be quicker at heating up the room.
2. There were two different heat settings: 350W and 700W. These would allow me to adjust the amount of heat I wanted from it depending on the weather, how long wed had the central heating on etc
3. The price! It was only £9.99. Although...

Excellent value Glen Heater
Review of Dimplex Glen XL18 Storage heaters by
eightiescleaners
Advantages: Instant heat, powerful, portable
Disadvantages: Cost to run
...Three years ago I bought a heater for my kitchen as I could not afford to install another radiator. The heater cost approx £39 from Comet. The heater is white in colour with a grey dial and two heat switches on the front along with a red mains indicator lamp. The height is approx two feet and the width is 3 1/2 ft long.
The heater is a convector syle electric heater where the heat circulates around the room from the top of the unit and the thermostat on the front (where you can adjust it to any temperature you like) monitors the room temperature and constantly switches on and off the heating elements keeping the room warm.
On mornings it is very cold in the kitchen and with this heater it does not take long for the room to get hot. Sometimes it is so cold that I turn the switch up to max heat and forget to turn it back down again...

Warm fish.
Review of Tetra Tec Heater/Stat 300 watt by
redballoon
Advantages: Vital Equipment
Disadvantages: Can break if not careful
...If you are planning to keep tropical fish then you are going to be in for a shock at how much it actually costs to get set up and running.
One thing you will have to think about buying is a water heater to keep your fishes warm.
This 300W heater will be ideal for a tank that has about 30-40 gallons. If you have a smaller tank you should buy a lower wattage heater. It is perfect for heating water. It is very safe to use as it's designed to be used for this purpose.
It has been designed so that is is very discrete and it's unobtrusive as it is slim and fits snugly in the corner of the tank.
It is very easy to adjust the heater. There is a dial on the top that you can turn up to increase the temperature of the water or turn it down to decrease the temperature.
Once the water has reached the set temperature, it turns it's self off until...

Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200 watts
Review of Kingavon Halogen Heater 1200kw by
giantpanda21
Advantages: Cheap to have on heats room nicely
Disadvantages: None
...This halogen heater is great and it is cheap to buy. I bought this heater when it had just started coming out and it cost me £14.99 (you could get them cheaper now) when you have the heater on it only uses about 4p an hour so you are saving a bit on your electricity. This halogen heater is 1200 watts and it is great youu have 3 buttons that operate the wattage one of which is also your on off switch and is one bar. The other 2 put it on 2 and the 3 bars but usually you only need it on 1 bar because it soon gets warm. There is a 4th button which if you press it it rotates the fire.
With the heater if it falls over it shuts itself off so it doesn't set your property on fire. When i have my heater on it is that bright that i don't need to put my main light on to watch the telly.
The halogen heater heats the room up well nd it is a very good...

Cowboy22
Advantages: Great outdoor heating for the summer evenings
Disadvantages: None
...Outdoor Gas Table Heater
Model 9201392
Price £69.99 from Focus DIY Store, March 2002
Contact detail: Focus, Gawsworth House, Westmere Drive, Crewe,
Cheshire, CW1 6XB.
If you enjoy sitting out in the garden on a summer’s night then this small gas table heater is just the ticket. You may have seen other gas powered garden heaters on TV or in your local DIY store. This one is exactly the same, only a miniature version.
The heater is designed to be situated on top of your garden table. It stands at 78cm high approximately. It’s diameter at the top is 45cm approximately, and at it’s base it is only 30cm in diameter, so it doesn’t take up much table space. It gives off 6kW of heat when running at full power, so it is ample for heating an area of an average size garden table. The hood of the heater is designed...
