...Whenever Microsoft releases a new or updated product many people question 'Do I need it?'. As far as Microsoft Office 2007 is concerned, I can safely say that unless Microsoft makes its 2003 package absolute and then bans the use of it, you really don't need to hurry to purchase it. There are too few positive changes to MS 2007 to justify the price hike but here they are: + It looks ever so much smarter! + It does operate faster than the 2003 version. + More tools have been added to the menu bar - no more hunting for Equation Editor! + Excel provides more helpful tips when using/creating formulae Disadvantages: + The way it looks has changed so much it's as though you are experiencing Mcrosoft Office for the first time, you have to search for everything all over again! + Frontpage may or may not be included - check the back... ...Microsoft publisher is a very handy piece of software for creating items such as leaflets, posters and other such documents. It allow you to use many templates and reset styles making life so much easier than doing it all from scratch. The Layout... The layout of publisher is now very similar to how it was previously and is the only one of the four main office programmes in the office 2007 range to remain virtually unchanged with regards to its layout. The first menu has changed somewhat and as apposed to a double click to start modifying and creating a document from a preset template you now have to click a small button that says create, a feature that took me some time to get my head around as there is nothing to tell you how it works making life extraordinaily dificult if you are used to how that menu was before. ...This piece of software is a ingenious idea by Microsoft. Students are some of the most cash strapped people in society, and so often turned to pirate software as opposed to paying £200+ for some simple word processing programs, which is often all that is needed. This package is perfect for the casual software user. It contains Word, Excel and Powerpoint, all the programs that the average student, or casual home user, needs. Microsoft has also completely redesigned the layout of the programs, choosing an icon based selection process over drop down menus. There are several tabs along the top of the screen that houses the required icons. If you're used to using Office 2003 then this can be annoying at first, as you have to get used to the new layout, but once you do it makes things alot easier. Office 2007 also appears alot more... Advantages: Office interface, more commands and designs
Disadvantages: Some programmes havent changed much

...I have had it for 3 months now, and much prefer it over 2003. The look and feel of office 2007 interface is so much better, with lots of added functions to it. Word has a much easier and more powerful desktop, and excel has a lot more functions such as 3d graphs and charts. It is, if I might be so bold, the most innovative user interface work that Microsoft has ever unleashed. Advantages: The best thing about Word it of course is the look and extra commands. The keyboard shortcuts remain the same as 2003. PowerPoint is rather disappointing however, because I noticed very little and significant change. Outlook express now has a very different and modern look to it. Disadvantages: The main disadvantage I can think of is the fact that previous versions of Office cannot recognize the 2007 format, making it not possible to open a file... Read review

Advantages: The most user-friendly desktop publishing software out!
Disadvantages: Bit slow to start up.

...this new suite is that the layout of the toolbars is totally different from previous versions of Office. There are too many programs to talk about in details so I'm just going to give you an insight into the most popular - Microsoft Office: As I mentioned, the layout is much different and comfortably fits in with Vista's Aero theme. The toolbars have been replaced with 'Tabs' stating; 'Home', 'Insert', 'Page Layout' etc. By clicking one of these tabs - a 'Pane' will open below it - this Pane displays the relevant tools. For example; by clicking the 'Insert' tab will open the 'Insert Pane'. This pane has large icons like: - Cover page - Blank page - Table - Picture - Clipart - Shapes …………….and many more. ...Microsoft office 2007 is a fantastic update to the other microsoft office packages, I purchased tis produced 1 year ago, and at first was a bit sceptical about how the new layout was done. However once i got used to the new layout and design of the product it wa clear how much easier this version was to use. With many other new extras like - choice of hedding wthout having to scroll through all of the font designs. Everything about this product is so much easier to navigate around. I think that this is because there are no drop down menus in this vertion of microsoft office, the drop down menus have been changed to static menus which go across thetop of your page, so there is no longer the need to go into the same drop dow menu several times as it stays fixed until you choose a different menu. ...Microsoft Works is similar to Microsoft Office, except it has slighty different programs in it. It has Microsoft AutoRoute Express 2000, which is very good, as it plans routes for you to take when driving all over europe. Microsoft Encarta World Atlas 2000, is very useful for teenagers studying geography. It is a very interactive program, with loads of information on every country and landmarks in those countries. It also tells you population and things like that. Microsoft Picture-It express is an excellent program if you have a scanner or a digital camera, it is very easy to use too. It also has Microsoft Home Publishing 2000 which is a good package for making posters, signs etc. MS Word 2000 is also thrown in for you.
