Windows 2000
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Media by

Advantages: Internet Orientated
Disadvantages: Internet Orientated
...The version of Windows 2000 I purchased was Windows ME, which is basically the home user version, with Windows 2000 the business version of the latest Microsoft Operating System.
Windows 2000 is an exellent upgrade package if you are Internet orientated. It is really based around the internet, with automatic Windows upgrades direct from the net. There is also a lot of extra features that were not featured in Windows 98.
I personally think that if you have Windows 98 and are not really planning on using the Internet, then there is no need to upgrade to Windows Me, but if you want your Operating System to be Internet orientated then I would highly recommend that you buy Windows 2000....

Security Of NT5 Windows 2000
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Media by
patrickgalvin
Advantages: Good Secure OS (see opinion)
Disadvantages: Not as secure as promised (see opinion)
...Microsoft have done it! They have finally released an operating system which meets all the necessities of the everyday user. I used to use Windows 98 for networking/games, then upgraded to Windows NT4.0 (where no games would run), now in Windows 2000 you get the best of both worlds.
However if you are upgrading from Windows 9x to Windows 2000 Pro you should be aware of how to secure your system, and how to stop any "hackers" from entering. Many people rely on a firewall, however this is really so extreme and a good setup computer shouldnt need a firewall at all.
1. When installing the OS, make sure that you unplug your network cable for the final section of the install, this is to make sure no hackers can read your data (Windows 2000 doesnt set your security until the very last stages).
2. Make sure the passwords...

Windows 2000 Beta
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Media by
gametester1985
Advantages: there gives it a lot there
Disadvantages: also gives it a great deal
...Windows 2000 is a compound from Windows 98 and Windows NT. The surface and divide the user managers became undertaken from 98 and the more stable heart comes from NETWORK TERMINAL. What is actual new in the case of Windows 2000? Hardware is mostly arranged without new start and it is now also that so-called Hot- have Plugin, the mean one can devices at serial and parallel ones as well as the USB and the Firewall external into current company connection connecting, that may be recognized arranged then automatic.
Active has desktop too in Windows 2000. What a very good renewal is, the recoveries consoles, with her, one can cancel attitudes and it returns the system into a stable original state in the case of problems.
Very gadget who thinks Windows in 2000 is rapid as 98 that is mistaken, the Windows 2000-11-28 is not more rapid than...

Windows Whistler 2001 BETA 1
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Media by
tsp2010
Advantages: Best MS operating system I have ever used (so far)
Disadvantages: Only in BETA
...Windows Whistler is the replacement for Windows 2000. Whistler is to be released in the 3rd to 4th quarter of 2001 (So they say) and is to replace Windows 2000 and Windows ME. This will be a fine day in my opinion to at last get home users off the ageing Win9X DOS core. (A common misconception is that Windows ME is not based on the Win9x core but it is and still has all the flaws that come with it.)
Whistler seems very stable for a BETA version, but then it is only a rebuild and not a redesign like Windows 2000 was. With all the features of Windows ME and 2000 it has become larger and wants a good 1GB of hard disk space to install. Whistler will be released in all the current flavours that Windows 2000 is available in, with the addition of Personal edition. The personal edition is meant for the home user and does not support 3 major...

Microsofts latest mashed-potato-water-based-OS
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Media by
antony
Advantages: It looks good. Its easy to use. The box makes a good food substitute after you spend all your allowance on this drunken effort of an OS
Disadvantages: Its stable like a seasaw is stable. It makes your computer slow, it crashes 24/7 its expensive, its limited.
...Ah William Gates the III is at it again, like a badly written, unneccessarily large virus, WIndows 2000 spreads across the world. Newbies flood to buy microsoft's products, licking their lips at the thought of ease of use and fading menus. I sit here and laugh at my foolish friends who managed to snag a copy as it spread the computer world like a fatal disease. Yes, maybe this latest hash-up is more stable, but then it would be kinda hard to make windows any LESS stable now wouldn't it? After crashing THREE times during its first set up, I wondered what made this release become the FINAL release, cos it sure doesn't look final to me. Maybe the last quality control inspector was a blind man with no hands or knowledge of computers whatsoever, yes, that must be it, this windows version looks pretty, and yet again, slows down your computer...

Windows 2000
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Complete package by
gametester1985
Advantages: see write
Disadvantages: see write
...Hallo on all sides, before some time, I decided to tell to my completely error-prone Windows 98 adé and then changed onto Windows in 2000. Since I yes am still pupil, I yes enjoy a certain privilege (students and teachers also enjoy this privilege) in the case of Microsoft products. Short declaration for aller that not know it. Microsoft offers so-called SIMULATOR SCENARIO LANGUAGE versions. Once office 2000 and then simply Windows in 2000 (or optionally Windows 98 SE). I must still say to this that one can buy this product nich in every loading. I have it but bought in the media market namely at the price of 129 DM !!!!
If one has bought this product, one receives a small box, when they are itself a registration form. One must fill this form and can it then to Microsoft fax (however, one must send the fax to Holland, what the call...

Windows 2000 not what you thought
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Media by
neilmoore67
Advantages: good for networks, fast
Disadvantages: not for home users
...A wide misconception of Windows 2000 is that it is the version after Windows 98, but it isn’t. It really is the next version of Windows NT, and it isn’t for home users. It can be used for office networks both large and small, but beware it isn’t for the faint hearted.
You can set up hard disc shares for many users, which can be useful for networks where many users utilise a few computers, making it unwieldy and unsafe for each user to use the normal hard disc.
It can also be used to give shares of a fast internet connection to all the other computers from the Network server. But this isn’t very good if there are an awful lot of computer on at once.
For your network needs it is fine, but this isn’t for home users, please remember....

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Review of Microsoft Windows XP Professional Complete package by
danbishop123
Advantages: Very stable compared to previous MS Windows versions
Disadvantages: Not great compatibility
...Windows XP is far better than it's predecessor Windows ME (discounting win2000 as it is really for networks). It is slightly slower, but has far better visuals and many more features.
Windows XP Professional is built on the core software code used in Windows 2000 and Windows NT Workstation. This code, known as the NT kernel, makes Windows XP more powerful, secure, and stable than Windows Me, Windows 98, or Windows 95. If you’ve used those systems in the past, you’ll notice a dramatic advantage: even if a program crashes, in most cases your computer will keep running. This really is true ctrl-alt-del actually does something now!
Windows XP Professional has a fresh visual design with its cool blue and green taskbar and a wonderful new start menu, it is far better than the old simplistic one! The most frequently used applications...

Windows XP Professional - Go on, buy it
Review of Microsoft Windows XP Professional Complete package by
basketcase3000
Advantages: More flexibility, reliabillity and quite frankly amazing
Disadvantages: It's very expensive - but don't be put off by this
...If your looking for a system that will provide a well structured and solid basis for a small business, a large business or simply for home use, then Windows XP Professional is definitely the only answer. Of course, you could by Windows 98, ME, or 2000 but they don't quite have the smooth looks and intelligence to overlook even the dumbest of people - Windows XP Professional does.
Microsoft have really cranked it up a gear with the release of this latest Operating system - the stunning visual design is what everyone talks about and I'm not surprised. It's definitely moved away from the dull greyness of the older Microsoft operating systems and has moved towards a more artistic design and a great sound scheme.
Some features include Remote Desktop to connect to any other Windows XP enabled PC - as long as they allow you to, which...

Windows XP... Here's where the real answer is...
Review of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Complete package by
coolpaul
Advantages: Built on NT technology (giving increased reliability), easier to use and less annoying that Windows XP.
Disadvantages: Still not perfect!
...difference is marginal and if you buy Windows 2000 Professional Edition then you are sure to have less annoyance that with 98!
Overall, out of all the Microsoft Operating systems available, Windows 2000 Professional Edition seems to be the best. Its blend of NT technology and multimedia capabilities, without the annoyingness of Windows XP, raises its standard above the rest. Though Windows ME was also released at the same time, this comes nowhere near to 2000 Professional in its reliablity so if you're going to get a Microsoft Operating System, get this one, because its the best I can find!...
