Maybe suitable for the basic user who has no idea how there pc is working. Its security is regarded by Microsoft as the best yet. Maybe so, but when things go wrong, because its basic, the recovery tools to fix your system without losing everything is next to nothing, hence Basic. If you do chose to buy vista, I would recommend buying Home Premium as that has everything you need to keep your windows sweet & secure. If any problems, crashes or data lass happens. ...Windows Vista is the "next generation" operating system from Microsoft, well that's what they say. The "WOW" starts now is their new tagline, so does it really? I am going to review the new and rather expensive offering from the biggest computing company in the world. Microsoft say that they are hoping for Windows Vista to be installed on 100 million computers by the end of 2007, but the people that I have discussed Windows VIsta with, all say the same thing, they'll buy it when SP1 (codenamed, Windows Figi) is released, this will get rid of all the bugs in the system, of which there are a lot. For a start, if you think there is fantastic driver support, then think again, when I installed Vista there were 4 drivers missing, OK, go online and get some new drivers, but the Ethernet card driver is missing, I cannot get on the internet... ...Windows Vista Home Basic. Believe it or not, its really the full version of the operating system. As per usual Windows didnt manage to finish there product. If you look around the internet, you will find out that Microsoft are currently creating there new operating system Windows 7. Many reviews state that Windows 7 is actually going to be the completed version of Vista. Now, sorry if I seem to be mean, but that seems very unusual to me. ...So, Windows Vista is out, and so is the much hyped Ultimate edition, but in the UK we are being expected to pay up to £350 for the pleasure of using it, so is it worth it? Well I had the good fortune to be involved with the Windows Vista Beta, and so have seen the product grow into what you see in front of you today and I have to say I am impressed, Microsoft have put ALOT of effort into the software and it shows. The first thing you notice when you start your journey with Vista is the ease of installation, its a few button clicks and in as little as 20 minutes on some machines you are at the windows desktop ready to start playing, with the vast majority of your peripherals working, of course the more IT literate will go straight to the manufactures websites to try and get more up to date drivers, but that is for the domain... ...Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium is far better that any version of windows I have used, to start at the beginning the installation is more automated and easier, making a quicker installation, although in my opinion I would not recommend an upgrade, but moreover a clean install, I would also recommend you installing Microsoft compatibility software, which can be downloaded from their website. If there is incompatible software, its a nightmare to remove and correct, i.e. when I first installed I did a direct upgrade only to find my SATA drives (64 bit incompatibility only) and Zone Alarm Internet Security was incompatible (later editions compatible, except when running 64 bit architecture).
