Upgrade Immidiately to MS Windows XP Professional

Advantages: Easy booting, less crashes, much faster and yes user friendly
Disadvantages: Dual boot becomes a problem

...all the OS is very software friendly. Even system crashes is far less frequent with Windows XP Professional. It has overcome the unfriendly interface woes of Windows 2000. The best of it is that disk partitioning and formatting the HD has become much more easier with XP which means in case your OS gives you problem, even a reasonably eloquent user can reload or even format or partition the hard disk just by reading the massages properly, in fact the option for formatting individual drives are there. The backup option is great. Create a back up of your files and remove all the partitions then format and recreate your disk partitions to your requirements. Well worth upgrading to Windows XP Professional

Advantages: Improved performance, new features, tighter integration

...I recently upgraded my operating system on my Dell Inspiron 8100 (see earlier Op) from Windows ME to Windows XP Professional. This was necessary because on several occasions Windows ME crashed for no apparent reason and I was forced to do a complete hard disk format and reinstall all my software. Fortunately I had taken the precaution of backing up my most sensitive data onto and external Iomega 80Gb hard drive; however, I had no option but to re-install application software from the original CD disks. This took ages. Cost of upgrading varies. Windows XP Professional is priced at about £160 (academic upgrade £80). Windows XP Home edition costs about £80. Windows XP upgrades are readily available online from retailers like Amazon or Microwarehouse. My copy was delivered next day after making the order at 5.00pm...

Windows 7 - a great operating system.

Advantages: looks great, easy to use, nice new taskbar, high compatibility
Disadvantages: cost is still high

...larger icons in squares. Instead of quick launch you have to "pin" items to the taskbar, which basically means they're always there, even when they are closed. When a program is open the square around it gets emphasized. There is a new feature called aero peek which is a little square in the bottom left which when you hover over it fades all of your open windows away and shows your desktop. When you click it then all of your windowd minimize and it takes you to your desktop. Another new feature is "aero snap" which is where you click and drag a window to either side of the screen to make it take up that half of the screen, or drag it to the top to make it maximise. Overall Windows 7 is a very good improvement over Vista, which in my opinion was still a good operating system, but Windows 7 is definitely better....

A code will then be sent back to you so that you can use it to activate the software. Rummor has it that an insider of Microsoft uploaded the product code onto the Internet before the activation policy could be iterigated into the software.
