This was a well-known fault in the machines, and so even though the machine was out of warranty, Microsoft would fix it. However, in order to get it fixed, we had to go through an unnecessarily complex process with shipping labels, etc. (which did not work from the emails we received), but eventually we got it sorted. However, it took so long that we actually went out and bought another one! This second one had trouble with the power supply only two months after being purchased. Intermittently, the power supply would completely stop functioning, suggesting that there was something wrong with the wiring, but we never managed to figure out precisely what...

Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite - Best console ever made!

Advantages: Looks good/Good storage/Great games/Great graphics/can play films and videos/music/lots lots more.
Disadvantages: Very expensive accesories, especially the wireless adaptor

...the reason why I never even considered the PS3 when I was choosing my next-gen console, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I would never get to play such games as Halo3 or Fable. The xbox live marketrplace is a great feature, it alows you to download themes, demos movie trailers,game trailers and even whole movies. Ofcourse some of this will come at a cost, which in most cases is a complete rip off if you are only buying things such as gamer pictures. This is the only real problem with the xbox 360, the price of the accesories :S. As with many things, microsoft liek to charge excessive prices for simple accesories and force you to buy their £60 versions by mnaking the cheaper ones not work. ...Power is the first thing that comes to mind when i think of the xbox 360 elite, it has a huge 120GB hard disk drive and the graphics seem to run alot smoother that the original xbox 360 for some reason. I had the original xbox 360 but that died on me about 2 weeks after buying, microsoft seem to have sorted out these little issues that kept crashing the system. The elite has a HDMI port which means you can connect this straght into your HD socket on your tv, I have a 42 inch plasma and i thought the graphics was good on my old Xbox 360 through a scart lead but once i plugged this in i was blown away! The graphics are amazing, perfect detail can be seen on the games that you play. You get the HDMI cable with this system too which is just great as they are quite exspensive to buy, you also get one black wirless controller and a headset...

Disadvantages: Slightly noisy when watching a dvd, will asorb you into a long life of gaming.

.... Then there is the xbox dashboard, this is where you can launch games, download game demos, movie trailers, HD movies for renting, game add ons, new themes and gamer pictures and so much more! There are also arcade games such as Uno, Original Doom and Metal Slug which can bring back those nostalgic moments in arcades and on ancient PC's. The huge 120 Gigabyte hard drive means that you can store more game info and saves but also HD movies to watch and and any videos you feel like downloading. The only issue with the new drive is transferring the old drive contents which can be done easily with the cable and cd supplied by microsoft by request. ...In my opinion, the Xbox 360 elite is the complete package when it comes to entertainment. However, when you pay in the region of £200 plus for any console you expect a flawless system, this is not the case with the Xbox 360 Elite. The first noticeable difference from Microsofts first installement in the 360 series is the colour. The new polished black matte finish is definately a striking feature and this itself sets it apart from its predecessors. ...I have previously owned two Xbox 360 Premium consoles in the past. I decided to purchase again with the release of Halo 3. Overall I\'m very happy with the Elite. Its main advantage over the Premium is the larger 120GB hard drive. Compared to buying a console and the larger hard drive it represents good value for money. If you want to download lots of demos and not have to worry about lack of space then the bigger drive is definitely worth it. If you just want HDMI then that should now be available on the Premium console. Another thing that I have found with the past two consoles that I have owned run rather loud. The Elite seems to be slightly less noisy but this still depends on what DVD drive you get in your system. Unfortunately it is down to luck which one you\'ll get. ...as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Assassins Creed 2 just to name a few. No matter what people say, if you have a HD Xbox 360 vs. a HD PS3 there is hardly any difference at all, the sound and graphics are amazing on the Xbox 360 console and games are getting better every month. The Elite is perfect for memory storage as the 20gb that you get with the Premium isn't enough and the 120GB that comes wih the Elite is perfect. Now the best feaure of the Xbox 360 has to be the online play, single player games that would usually last a few weeks can end up lasting for months upon months, The XBox live community is updated frequently and there is pretty much always something to do from downloading arcade games to playing demos of soon to be released games.
