M-Audio Oxygen 61[Midi Keyboard]

Advantages: Great Midi Keyboard/Controller.
Disadvantages: none

...As im a music Producer, I use a number of Midi Keyboards when i go to studios. M-audio keyboards are levels abouve the rest within the industry. I previously i owned the smaller version of this the Oxygen8 v2, which i loved, howeveras i was progressing as a musician, it was limiting me on the mellodies i was composing as there wernt enough keys. So i upgraded to the Oxygen 61 which is what im currently using. Im extremely happly with it so far, and feel that it meets all of my requirements not just as a Midi Keyboard but also as a Controller Interface for software like 'Reason'. The Modulation and Pitch Bend Sliders are very useful while recording to generate different effects. This keyboard includes everything you need as a producer to start making music of a high standard, Pitch & Modulation wheels, programmable buttons/panners/ 9...

Prodikeys double Keyboard

Advantages: Build in musical keyboard, lots of hotkeys.
Disadvantages: Delay with Microsoft Synth, cover clip broken.

...This is actually my brothers Prodikeys, however he is letting me use it for now. Just using it as a normal keyboard, this is a good keyboard, with nice keys, and fairly flat keys like a laptop, which I prefer. It has many hotkeys, you can program to what you want which is useful, and has all the multimedia keys. On the top of the keyboard, from the left, is the key to open the prodikeys software, and then 3 keys next to that on the right, Sustain, Octave up and down, which when you are not using the prodikeys software, these keys are to open a web browser, open email, and open instant messenager. Futher to the right, there is a calculator key, calender, address book, My Documents, My Pictures, Music, Lock, stand by, then the multimedia keys, play/pause, stop, skip left/right, and then open media player software. There is also...

M-Audio Fast Track Pro - Great for working with audio on a budget

Advantages: cheap, reliable, portable, easy to use and intuitive
Disadvantages: limited ins and outs, not a lot of leeway for input levels

...The M-Audio Fast Track Pro is all round a fairly good piece of kit. I originally bought mine as my very first audio/usb interface to use with my Macbook and Logic Pro when I first started university, 2 years ago. I am now in my final year, and have progressed up to using Pro Tools (M-powered, as this is the only version supported by the Fast Track Pro.) I have to date used the fast track pro to create semi-professional projects. The sound quality is, I have to say, very good for a £120 interface, although I have had problems attempting to get a decent input signal strength, especially when using the built in phantom power. However, the integrated phantom power is effective, even when the unit is powered solely by USB, although the option for mains power is available, though the adapter is not included in the box. I got a universal...

Review of M-Audio Fast Track Pro

Brilliant midi keyboard, Brilliant price

Advantages: sturdy, cheap
Disadvantages: not enough keys

...When I first start getting interested in music production on a computer i bought the Oxygen 8 and was extremely pleased with it. I do not have much experience with piano theory so for those more into playing chords and more in depth structures, may find this keyboard limiting. But for those who are interested in the modern craze that is digital music production and its infinite amount of synthesizers, drum machines and effects, then this is defenitely a very nice way of accessing all those sounds. The Oxygen 8 is good because its cheap, its sturdy, it will last and it might the only midi keyboard you will ever need. In order to get sounds out of it you will need a computer with a music production program such as Reason or cubase. The Oxygen 8 is a USB keyboard and should start working as soon as you plug it in. It has 8 knobs which can...

Review of M-Audio Oxygen 8 V2

Sturdy, versatile audio/midi interface/surface

Advantages: well made and easy to use
Disadvantages: positioning of front and back ports can get cluttered

...Amongst audio interfaces this is unique for having both audio/midi ports as well as the light-up top knob and buttons. These can be asisgned to functions in a wide range of audio DAWs from Apple's Garageband to Logic and Cubase. The unit is simple to install and use although I did have to download the latest drivers for it to be recognised on a USB port. With two audio inputs, guitar and a microphone or other instruments can be quickly setup. The back plate includes MIDI in and out ports to complete the connectivity. Once connected it immediately offers high-end audio clarity and 3ms latency which ensures you hear straightaway the music you're playing. Although this unit is now a few years old, its sturdy construction and versatility make it a better option than the newer Guitar Rig Sessions 3 XE device....

Canal du Midi

Advantages: architectural wonder
Disadvantages: cost many human lives to build

...The Canal du Midi, is a man dug canal, situated in the south of France, and joins the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean sea, via the Canal Garonne. The water sources which allow the canal to be constantly navigable, come from the Montagne Noire, (situated in the south west of the Massif Central, near Mazamet, in the Tarn area), by three lakes, and the Saint Ferréol dam. This technical challenge, first imagined in 1539, stayed a project on paper for almost a century, until 1636. ¤ø,¸¸,◊,¸¸ ,ø It was Paul Riquet, an ingenious engineer, born in Béziers in 1604, who started the first portion of the Canal in 1636, under the reign of Louis XIV. The Saint Ferréol dam was built in 1667, and in 1680, the locks at Béziers, called "Les écluses de Fonseranne" were built. Pierre Paul Riquet died that year, and the very first navigation...

Edirol pcr m50 keyboard

Advantages: 27 fully assignable midi controls, high quality keyboard mechanism, v-link (for visuals)
Disadvantages: quite complex to set up assignable controls.

...My experience I have been dabbling in music since the age of fifteen ( ten years) starting off deejaying with a view to producing my own music, over the last year i have found myself with more time to enjoy this part of my life and therefore borrowed some hardware from a friend, step up the "edirol pcr m50". Its a midi controller/ synthesizer with 49 keys, 12 velocity curves 27 assignable controlls ranging from roatrys, sliders switches and even 2 pedal ports. The keyboard is also fitted with a pitch bend / modulation lever 15 memory set locations and midi input and output ports . Setting up and installing was easy although i didnt have the original driver disk the website was easy to manouvre and find the drivers i required. I linked the product up with my software of choice and although i struggled to set up the faders and rotary...

Midi's the kiddy

Advantages: Cheap and fun
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...should hear a sound, probably a piece of music, but it depends upon what exactly you chose. As long as you heard a sound then life is great and you have a midi capable sound card on your computer, which means that you can turn your PC into a great little musical instrument and recording studio. Good huh? No? Not impressed? Just you wait, you will be. In the extremely unlikely event that you don't have a '.mid' file on your PC then simply go and search for one on the web. There're millions of the bloody things out there! The work that would eventually result in MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) began as a conversation between three audio engineers at a trade show in June 1981. I. Kakehashi (Roland Corporation), Tom Oberheim (Oberhiem Electronics) and Dave Smith (Sequential Circuits) were all concerned with the difficulty...

Good audio interface for serious recording

Advantages: good sound quality, zero latency
Disadvantages: if you expect a really out standing quality, this is not the one to go for

...I bought this M-Audio firewire last year. Have to say Im really satisfy with this audio interface. It has 2 input with 48V phatom power, from which you can plug in your condenser microphones. There are also 2 1/4 input for instruments. It works really well for my acoustic, although I would prefer to use the condenser mics to record, since they give a fuller tone. Supported with firewire connection, there is no latency, and it allows you to record up to 192Kb, which is satisfactiory for professional recording. The interface has a solid look, with white silver color and very stable. I've been using it for 1 year and I've never had a problem with the hardware. The software is well suported and run smoothly with my mac....

Fantastic keyboard, so lovely to type on...

Advantages: Separated keys; very nice to type on, very nice to look at (doh!)
Disadvantages: None really

...! The keyboard's USB cord is quite small although it comes with an extension cord incase you need it. Although the Apple Keyboard was made for the Mac it works perfectly well on Windows (and for me it works on XP/Vista/7 fine). The cmd/command key will link as the Windows key on a PC and the F keys at the top may or may not work - I'm not sure on that one. Overall I recommend this keyboard especially for those that have a Mac - but who says PC users can't purchase this too? :)...
