...After having a Dyson for nearly eight years, we bought this vacuum cleaner. The reason for this? The Dyson proved to be rather fragile and unreliable and had many repairs over it's life, after the bottom part began to crack we decided it was time for a new vacuum cleaner. The actual cleaning performance of the Dyson was not at all that bad, it was just that it was too fragile, unreliable and rather messy to empty. Purchase We went to our local Currys store and had a look at a few machines, the initial plan was to get the cheapest Miele cylinder (Miele S380) and use it exclusively for upstairs and then we would get the new Miele upright for downstairs. Clean up with Miele S 380

...Review of Miele S 380 cleaner This is a bagged vacuum cleaner from the manufacturer, Miele. The Ciao photograph shows the product in red however my own is 'Bahama Blue'. I purchased mine to replace a cylinder style cleaner that I use for my static caravan. **The product** The vacuum cleaner is a fairly basic model, it does not come with many attachments, i.e. No pet hair brush, or fragrance pocket for those little air fresheners. The cleaner is fairly quiet running in comparison to my upright cleaner (Dyson) which I use at home. It is ideal for carpeted floors, but I have to admit that I do not find it particularly efficient on longer piled carpets as it is hard work to manoever over anything other than a medium thickness carpet. Miele S 5210

Advantages: Easy to store, stylish, compact and powerful

...Not something that I can really get too excited about, buying vacume cleaners but here goes. There was a simple reason I went and bought the Miele S5210, I subscribe to the Which magazine and it had mentioned the Miele S5210 (recent publication) had consistantly come out as the best over all performer. Being as our upright vacume had died recently I saw no reason why I should doubt this and bought one today. All I can say is that it is miles better than the upright I had before, all the attachments pack away in the vacume which means they will be found when needed (unlike the clip on attachements on our last vacume) Myself and the wife are both 6ft tall but the hose is long enough that we don't need to break our backs bending over and the vacume is light enough to pull around without any effort. Miele is miles better

...Having moved into a new house we decided to ditch our old Vax vacuum and purchase a replacement. Being the type of person I am I looked at the options available. After some initial product screening I decided to concentrate on Miele or a Dyson. I was able to test drive a Dyson DC08 and a Miele S5210 before purchasing. I found the carpet cleaning performance of the Miele to be far superior and it felt as if it had much better all-round pickup. This was true for dust, hair and general carpet fluff! I would say that Hardwood/tile cleaning for both was level pegging. Reliability was also a factor in my decision.   My Miele is a pearl of a cleaner

...A couple of months ago there was a lot of singing and dancing around the house when my horrible, useless Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner decided it had had enough. Review of Miele S5 RED Pearl

Doesn't make a Miele out of hoovering

Advantages: excellent suction, variable power settings, quiet, light, easy to clean
Disadvantages: purchase price is steep

...I really don't rate Dyson hoovers at all having owned two previously and suffering the stress and expense that came with continually changing the filters and constant overheating of the motor. They are not cheap and for the price I kept paying I decided it was time to spend just a fraction more and purchased a Miele S5280 for £180. The main reason I opted for the Miele over a Numatic Henry was because my parents have used Miele hoovers now for years and couldn't recommend one more highly. Designed as more of a drag around hoover instead of the normal upright the entire unit is considerably lighter than most Dyson or Hoover products and has the ability to both adjust the suction power thus reducing the amount of noise produced by the motor so that housework can be done late in the vening and early in the morning without disturbing...

Miele 5280 with parquet brush

...Forget Dyson and others , this machine works in all areas and was actually designed by engineers for people to clean with. Dyson's noisy rocket machines are sometimes obviously straight from the drawing board to the manufacturing base and are clumsy, noisy, often awkward to use with the clunky wand and flatter to deceive. This Miele is versatile, quiet and has easy maneuverability around the home. The drawback is dust bags but they last a long time and work well; being easy to change and dispose of.
