Miele S5281: Don't make a Miele of the housework

...Well, my rubbish old vacuum eventually kicked the bucket so it was time for me to rush out and buy (well, add to my credit card) my beautiful new Miele vacuum having heard rave reviews about them from friends. I checked the which guide and other review sites and found that they were rated very highly which confirmed my choice of make and that just left the model to choose. I decided on the S5281 as it seemed a good, powerful, all-rounder. Then came the hunt to find the best price or deal, having not spent any money for while since having a baby I thought that a purchase of nearly £200 online would guarantee me some good discount, cashback or loyalty points. I found the vacuum for between £195 and £200 in many places and also found it in Argos for £175 - same model number but a slightly different name. I was a bit suspicious so...

  My Miele is a pearl of a cleaner

Fuji S5000 versatile, high quality camera

Advantages: Extremely versaltile, general-use camera
Disadvantages: Autofocusing on moving targets

...The S5000 is a very good value version of the Nikon 5700. It has fantastic zoom (10x optical) although close-up focusing on anything more than 1x doesn't really work, even on macro. Generally, autofocusing and auto light metering in normal use takes about a second (typical for a modern digi camera). Trying to take a photo on a moving subject is therefore tricky if the subject is moving away (or towards) you, as it focuses at the point you initiated the photo. Focusing on a small object against a detailed background (e.g. an insect on a leaf against the garden) can be tricky because if the insect is too small it tries to focus on the background instead. These types of photo usually take a couple of minutes because it needs 5 or 6 attempts (re-zooming, refocusing, moving closer/further away) and is probably the weakest part...

Miele is miles better

Advantages: Powerful, buld quality compact, reliable
Disadvantages: Requires bags, manoureavbility

.../installation of the bags is easy and hygienic as the bags have a self-closing mechanism when they are removed. The S5210 ships with a super air clean filter however you can upgrade as necessary to say a HEPA filter which is what I intend to do. After looking at the overall ability of the models on the market in my price range both I decided on the Miele S5210. I have owned one now for around 8 weeks and I have been really impressed with its ability to clean our house carpets and floor. Miele S712 (pet version)

Advantages: Powerful suction, hygenic and quiet.
Disadvantages: Not widely available.

The Dyson proved to be rather fragile and unreliable and had many repairs over it's life, after the bottom part began to crack we decided it was time for a new vacuum cleaner. Finepix S5000

Advantages: Easy to use, very good picture quality
Disadvantages: Camera case sold separately

The quality of the picture is amazing even on the auto mode. You get a CD-ROM (FinePix Viewer software) as well to download your pictures on your computer, I had no problem whatsoever to install it and I find it very quick to transfer the pictures on my computer. I just love this camera and even if it's not the smallest (11.27cm x 8.11cm x 7.93 cm and it weights about 400g) I take it everywhere I go (you never know when you'll get a great picture opportunity...

Miele for me! Microwave M8151

Advantages: Quick Start function/Grill/Variable Power and Grill levels/2 Year Guarantee
Disadvantages: I can't really find any disadvantages.

...Most of all I want to recommend Miele. They supplied me with this built in microwave at a large discount to help me out when the AEG microwave (MCD1751E) I had originally purchased, which was still within its guarantee period broke and AEG were unable to fix it or supply me with a new microwave/grill to sit in the built in cupboard which had been specifically hand made for it. The care and level of service received by me from Miele will ensure that from now on it will only be Miele for me. My mother owns a Miele automatic washing machine and she has had it for 24 years, so I think the brand name speaks for itself. You are getting quality and good back up service, both of which are equally important to me. The microwave is easy to use, and I like the quick start function that allows you to microwave something for 30/60/90 seconds...
