Hotel Adam - Milan can be cheap!

...Well, when I visited Milan in February, we booked to stay in Hotel Adam about 4 weeks before we went. We got an offer on the accomodation and paid only £97 for 2 people for 3 nights which I thought was fantastic as this is a 4* hotel. There weren't many pictures of the hotel and I couldn't find a lot of information on it, we didn't know what to expect - but not a lot for that cost! The address of the Hotel is Via Palmanova 153 Milan, 20132 Italy The hotel is 6km from the city centre and 4km from Linate airport, we flew to Bergamo airport and it's not that much of a hassle getting from there either. Great Value 3-Star Hotel

Advantages: Highly recommended 3-star Dublin hotel handy for the city centre

Handy, Well Located 3 Star Hotel

Advantages: Well located 3 Star budget hotel. Fairly cheap by Dublin standards.
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...The Mespil Hotel is located on the Royal Canal on Mespil Road in Ballsbridge, only about 15 minutes walk from St. Stephen's Green and Grafton Street (the two main shopping areas of the city) and about 20 minutes from O'Connell Street and the Temple Bar area. In a previous incarnation the Mespil was a large office block that housed the Irish Blood Transfusion Service. The transformation to a hotel took place in the early 1990's, and has been achieved successfully. (I was dubious when I first heard of the proposal!) BREAKFAST THE STAR OF THE DEAL

Advantages: Impeccable service

The Star Hotel - An absolute Gem!

...Just back from a wonderful stay at The Star hotel in Kingussie. We stayed for a 5 night break in Sept. and cannot find fault. We were welcomed by the owner, and shown to our room. Good size, with large double bed, nice dressing table & warbrobe with plenty of space for all our walking gear. Tea & Coffe making facilities aswell as an iron & hairdryer. You can have the option of having a bath or shower, we chose bath, which was huge! Ample car parking behind the hotel which also doubles as a little beer garden. 4 star on a budget

Advantages: comfortable, quiet accommodation at reasonable price for 4 star, splendid breakfast buffet
Disadvantages: location not central, bathroom small, room décor dull, smallish 'standard'room

...thought to have more pleasant coloured decors but at a price! There is not much of a view just overlooks a dull street. There are plenty of budget hotels available in Milan available from around £25 a night. It is not as plush as a 4 star and if that is what you are looking for then I would recommend you avoid this hotel and try a large Hotel group like Radisson etc However if you are comparing 3-4 star hotels with these features this certainly offers value for money!. (the breakfast itself is more like a lunch!) P.S as you'll know from my lastminute.com experience I actually found this hotel cheaper elsewhere by £10 per day, so in fact I got it for around £30 per day (Last minute.com refunded me £30 -so it pays to shop around and "haggle". ciao! ...Recently stayed in this hotel over the June bank holiday weekend. Mananged to get a good deal on a double room - E125 for two people sharing plus breakfast. The hotel is in a good location - only a 5 minute walk from Shop Street which is the main street in Galway city. Parking is provided by a multi story car park next door with a reduced rate of E3 for guests per day. Hotel decor is modern but low key. Staff were attentive and helpful at all times. The hotel bar was comfortable but lacked any kind of atmosphere so drinkers would be better suited to the city. Our room was on the top floor - ceiling was slanted which made the room quite small and the view was limited. Room was clean, but fixture and fittings were cheap - espically in the bathroom. The room was also extremely warm with no air con present. Overall, our stay was alright...

...My Husband and I have just returned from The Star Hotel, the hotel while being old fashioned it is extremelly clean and the staff very helpful and pleasant, the food is excellant I defy anyone to find better value for the money, the day before I arrived I injured my back and the girl on reception called Tanya kept heating my back pad in the microwave oven for me, she is a little treasure, on our second day we booked to return in March 2009 and we are looking forward to it, yes the hotel has no lifts but that is no problem, the portions of the food given are exceptional I'm sure I've put a stone on in the four days we were there. It is in a great location for seeing all other local sites, I can really recommend going to see the Reindeers just outside Aviemore a truly great experience...

...of 3 types of cereal, oranges, apples, strawberry + natural yoghurt, orange juice, apple juice, toast, hard-boiled eggs, jam, marmalade, honey, tea, coffee, Danish ham, salami, cheese slices, roll-mop herring, pate, white bread, pumpernickel bread, brown bread, rye bread, bread rolls, butter, Danish pastry etc.Our stomachs were quite full afterwards. The bedroom TV has 10 channels including CNN, Eurosport and a couple of Swedish channels. There are 3 seating areas in the hotel reception. Tour excursions can be booked at the reception desk. The receptionists speak excellent English and were helpful. Check-out time was 12 p.m. Although the hotel was rated 3-star, I would deem its facilities as 4-star. The Principals Hotels chain owns the hotel. We thought our stay was excellent....

...Named the 10th most expensive city in the world in terms of cost of living (Mercer's Cost of Living Survey, 2008), Milan isn't generally a city you'd associate with budget hotels. However, that was exactly what I was in search of when travelling to the city for a 3-night stay in October 2008.
