My Jazzy 'Birth Of Cool' by Miles Davies Remastered.

Advantages: Excellent Jazz Album.
Disadvantages: None!

Reasons For Purchasing I was first introduced to this type of Jazz music by My Grandmother and Grandfather who loved listening to Miles Davis and of course their choice of music rubbed off on my own Mother, who I remember as a child, played the Miles Davis Quintet quite a lot also. I took this CD from my Grandmothers collection after she died three years ago and I am glad I did, as now I have got the chance to write about this CD. This is quite an interesting album I have to say, it features twelve excellent jazz songs from Miles Davis. Davy Crockett ranch - Disney

Advantages: great pool, good cabins and great deals available
Disadvantages: 15 minute drive from main parks

...I went to Disneyland last week with my family and stayed there for 3 nights at the Davy Crockett Ranch. I have now visited Disneyland Paris 6 times and have also been to Disney world in Orlando as well last year. However I have stayed at the Disney hotel and a few of the others but I have to say that Davy Crockett ranch has to be one of the best ones there and certainly my favourite as it has so many great features and offers much more as well as being more free. The Accommodation: When you stay there you will be put in a small wooden cabin in a particular area which are all named such as Tomahawk or Bobcat. Each small 'camp' includes about 50 to 100 cabins all with separate parking spaces and outdoor bins. Inside you have a choice of either a one or two bedroom hut and all of them can sleep up to 6 people, with a double bed...

Miles' fusion at its best

Advantages: Ideal example of Miles' style at the time - funky and fun.
Disadvantages: Not for everyone (but definitely worth a shot)

Advantages: Reinvigorated Davis, awesomely funky, with a superb band.
Disadvantages: You're kidding right?

Breathtaking

Advantages: Outrageously good! Music, playing, production, booklet - everything is great!
Disadvantages: I honestly can't think of one thing.

...-style sax battle breaking out in the Dizzy Gillespie-composed tune. Neither comes off badly - both have outstanding speed - but I give the edge to Adderley, since Coltrane's solo is almost a little bit too out-of-control. 'Milestones', a Davis original, is phenomenal. The simple theme is picked out brilliantly by the horns, and Miles' solo is one of my personal favourites. It is so clear and relaxed, he picks out the space despite the fairly lively tempo, over the sax accompaniment. The saxes also aquit themselves well, with 'Trane showing off his wide range expertly and chipping in some nice blus licks, but it's Miles who is the star of this track. Despite a clunker on the recap of the theme, he finds the mood perfectly. The rhythm section become a trio of their own on 'Billy Boy', a traditional song, with all three flexing their soloing...

Sony DAV-IS 10

Advantages: quality, crisp sound, great looks, can easily hide away
Disadvantages: power output is quite low, needs more mid range

...I bought the sony satelite system about 8 months ago. I did have a sony 5.1 system before but decided to change it as i had just bought a new plasma and wanted a surround system to compliment the looks of the plasma mainly (my tv's piano black as is the dav subwoofer). I knew the quality of the dav-is 10 was there but when i tested it i thought the power output was quite low but at the price it was the best option for the subtle, cosmetically smart looking surround that i was after. This system is not a powerful, in your face surround sound. It's a quality sounding, subtle looking crisp system - less powerful than my previous sony.. It looks brilliant with the tiny satelite speakers which really do hide in your room - especially with the skinny sony stands you can buy (70 pounds for the pair - well worth it). The subwoofer...

Steve Davies rules the Eighties

Advantages: Pulled snooker from pub sport to top television
Disadvantages: Cannot compete with the influx of new talent any more

...Steve Davies - 6 times world champion and absolute snooker king of the 80s! He can't play anymore, but boy can he commentate! I used to enjoy watching Davies in the 80s when I was a young lad, my father being a keen watcher of snooker. There is no doubt that Davies was the king of modern snooker then, when the sport was just becoming accepted as a television sport. Lots of women apparently used to find him extremely attractive - with his tall thin demeanour, and the way he used to slide his cue back and forth between the dimple in his chin. Whatever turns them on! The attraction of Davies was clearly that he was the young kid on the block in the 80s, and he took on what was largely a group of older established men who played slowly and drank lots of beer. That wasn't for Steve, he wanted to stay sober, sipping water...

8 Mile Film Review

Advantages: Rap Battles
Disadvantages: Uninteresting plot and characters

...If hearing Eminem's voice on numerous radio stations and music television channels wasn't enough, director Curtis Hanson decided to create the rags-to-riches Hip-Hop musical 8 Mile to exhaust all mainstream possibilities and tell the world how great the white rapper is. I don't really hate Eminem: Admittedly, I did enjoy some of the tracks on The Marshall Mathers LP (which I regard as the height of his career as a music artist). It's just that anything he has done since then seems like an excuse to make Hip-Hop more acceptable to a commercial audience. Gone are the days of him wanting to "Kill You": He now prefers to dress up as a superhero for the video of "Without Me", declaring himself as the saviour of popular music. After all, a white face at the forefront of the culture means more money for the A & R offices of the music industry...

For those of you who have not seen an American Pie film ; Stiffler is the 'mad/wild/rude' character in the first three American Pies. So this movie focuses on Stiffler's cousin who is nothing at all like Stiffler , and so he feels under pressure to live up to his 'cousin's' wild ways.
