Fundamentals of motor vehicle technology

Advantages: fantastic guide, brilliant in depth explainations very thorough

...I am aspiring Motorsport engineering undergraduate and i have found Hilliers book of fundamentals of motor vehicle technology (part one) priceless in teaching me about the anatomy of a car. It gives in excellent detail everything my inquiring mind has needed in the build up to my course. It begins with the very basics reasoning why chassis are like they are, why the drive is at the back in most cars, why steering is only for front wheels etc, and leads very well into more complex components. In this story, set in the same universe as the authors two previous novels, a group of mercenaries are hired to be close personal protection to the president of a nation that is wracked by uncivil, clan and inter tribal wars. Solving the problem would take military action to impose a peace and a statesman to make it permanent. The president could be such a man. He is a man of honour, ethical and capable. This is not to the liking of some of the parties who put him into power and would prefer someone more amenable to their desires for power and profits. Rotten Vehicle

Advantages: Jeff Daniels and Krisitin Chenoweth bring oodles of energy to their roles
Disadvantages: It's lacklustre in all depertments

It's telling that Sonnenfeld hasn't even paid enough attention to the most basic of effects, making it abundantly clear that the cast are in a studio somewhere, in front of a green screen, when they should be bouncing through the wilderness somewhere. This is essentially a star vehicle for Williams, but one where the hand-brake is never let off. So you feel like you're bumping along in first gear throughout the entire hour and forty minutes. Then as the credits roll, you're "treated" to the ultimate horror; a cast sing-along of "Route 66". The screenplay by Geoff Rodkey is straight out of the scripting-by-numbers book. Horns and Military Dilemmas

...Jon Ronson is a journalist who wrote the brilliantly funny ?Them?, subtitled ?Adventures With Extremists?, a hilarious account of meetings with various cranks and extremists such as the Ku Klux Klan, David Icke and more. Not forgetting the ?Bilderberg? conspiracy postulating that a group of powerful men are running the world (Peter Mandelson apparently attends their meetings!). With this pedigree and such an attention-grabbing name it was impossible to resist buying and reading this new Ronson book as soon as I saw it. The title comes from a secret experiment where military guys tried to stare goats to death. Apparently one goat was taken ill but the chap who succeeded in doing this also ended up with a heart problem. Make of that what you will. Advantages: Graphics, gameplay, community content, developer support, rewarding learning curve.

32 pounds worth of peace of mind UPDATED

Disadvantages: None it will cost you £32 per car but its better than say losing £5000

...The HPI check is something I would always recommend someone to do when buying a car. For the small cost of £32.00 you get a history check about the vehicle you wish to buy. What you need to complete an HPI check is the reg number and the chassis number. I know you can get away with just providing the reg number to HPI buts its easy for someone to change the plates rather than the normally 18 digit number stamped on the body. This number can normally be found on the floor next to the driver or somewhere in the engine bay. When you phone HPI they also give you the engine size, body and colour details when the vehicle was first new. Take careful note of these and you will be able to tell if someone has changed the engine from a petrol to diesel or painted the car a different colour. Both of these make the car worth less than...
