...When my daughter was a few weeks old, my mum saw the Avent powder dispenser and thought it was a really good idea. When she gave it me i thought, "another gimic!" Oh how wrong could I be, it was fantastic! Up until this point we had been filling our bottles with cooled boiled water and scooping the milk into it as and when we needed it (this is not fun at 2 in the morning while holding a screaming baby) ***How does it work*** This is a small tub which is divided into 3 compatments (can hold 3 9oz feeds) which can be filled with the correct amount of powder. When needed just open the spout and pour the powder into the bottle. Then turn the lid around to the next compartment ready for the next feed. When the dispenser is no longer needed for powder, the dividers can be taken out and it can be used as a pot for food. ***What we liked...

Long gone are the days you could prepare bottles in advance and store them in the fridge. This is due to a bacteria that can be found in the powdered milk called Enterobacter sakazakii. TOMMEE TIPPEE 6 COMPACT MILK POWDER DISPENSERS

Advantages: simple to use, space saving
Disadvantages: dont really hold 8 scoops

...I have just had my first baby and despite trying my hardest to breast feed I have just not got on with it so had to purchase all the bottles and things to enable me to feed at home and also whilst out and about. I purchased Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature bottles purely because they were on sale half price at Tesco. However I have been very happy with them. They are quite a strange shape, being very wide, but they are easy to hold and baby loves to drink from them as the teat is very soft. Every body keeps telling me to make up feeds in advance and store in the fridge and heat them up, however, "current guidelines" state that this increases the risk of bacteria in the milk. ...I bought this product for my daughter because i was fed up of having to work out how many made up bottles i needed to take along with me when i went out shopping for example ,and having to rush back home in time for when the next feed was due. I found the milk dispenser good value for money easy to use and small enough to pop in your bag and carry around with you. My daughter only ever drank 7floz of milk so i never had the trouble of trying to fit in 8 scoops. You do need a steady hand when scooping the forulma into the containers as the top is not very wide and you can end up wasting half the powder. Like all baby feeding equipment you need to wash out the container after every use and sterlise. i'd pop mine into the microwave sterliser you then need to leave them upside down to dry out completely other wise you will find...

The tub isn't anything fancy, it's not all bright and colourful with pictures of babies on the front like other formula tubs, instead it is a simple blue tub with a white polar bear on. It does not say 'formula milk' on it but 'breastmilk substitute' which suggests it is in a different league to the other formulas on the market. The tub itself has the information about how to make up a feed and how much your baby should be having. The lid is resealable with a plastic lid that clips back down.
