Run of the Mill? A bit disappointing
Advantages: Nice room
Disadvantages: Nasty food
...I stayed at the Mill House recently and was simultaneously impressed and depressed by what I found. I liked my room, which was exceptionally pretty and I liked the setting but the food was poor, the service 'patchy' and the public areas just a bit too much like a 1980s country pub with no customers.
Location
The hotel is in the tiny village of Ashington, about ten miles north of Worthing and just off the A24. If you don't know it's there, you'll struggle to find it as it's located down a pot-holed track off a poorly sign-posted side-road to the dual carriageway. Luckily someone led me to the right road as I think it would have been very easy to miss.
First Impressions
First impressions were that it looked very pretty, rural and twee but on closer inspection the rather verdant gardens were a bit too overgrown - beyond...

Boundary Mill
Advantages: Excellent range of goods and clothing
Disadvantages: not enough for the younger shopper
...General Information
-----------------------
Boundary Mill, is an out let store selling men's and ladies wear for a reduced price compared to shop prices. There are many of these outlet stores around the UK.Boundary Mill has several outlet stores, in Newcastle, Colne, Walsall and Grantham. I visited the Walsall store as it is the closest one to me. It opened 1st November 2003 and it's the newest store.
How to get there
------------------
Boundary Mill, Wasall is located just off Junction 10 of the M6. It is on the Black Country Route. As you come off the motorway turn left at the traffic lights and follow the AA signs to the store. It is very easy to find and is located in an industrial estate.
There is plenty of car parking, and we managed to find a space even on a Saturday.

A Beautiful Traditional Greek Mill
Advantages: Fantastic Situation, old world charm and good food
Disadvantages: A Bit off the Beaten Track - will neeed a car
...We came across this hotel quite by accident. It was while we were heading for the village of Troodos and decided that it was time to stop as the evening was closing in and we hadn't found any suitable accommodation. The road left would have taken us into Troodos but we took the right turning to Kyperounda and followed the hilly road down the mountain. If you take the left turn at the bridge you will enter the village of Kakopetria. This is where the Mill Hotel is situated and what an unusual sight it is.
Built into the mountain this building is an awesome sight when looking up to the top floor. The building has been renovated as originally the old Mill stopped working in the 1950's as milling became expensive and imported flour became available. This led to the mill closing down and eventually it fell into disrepair until it was bought...

The Mill Inn - - the inn on the canal
Advantages: Lovely location, comfortable and friendly
Disadvantages: None that I can see
...The Mill Inn was converted from an old grain mill in 1992 into a 15 bedroom hotel, set in its own intensive grounds - it was then known as Thurnham Mill. Last year it had a major refurbishment and its name was changed to The Mill Inn.
The Mill Inn is part of the Mitchells chain.
Mitchells of La ncaster Istarted in 1871, William Mitchell signed the lease on his very first pub and brewhouse - The Black Horse Inn, in Lancaster. Now Mitchell's of Lancaster is still family owned and the group consists of sixty pubs and five hotels, covering the city, coast and countryside of North Lancashire and South Cumbria.
The Mill Inn was converted from an old grain mill in 1992 into a superb 15 bedroom well-appointed hotel, set in its own igardens, and has recently undergone a major refurbishment.
The Mill Inn is on the very edge...

Stainsby Mill, Derbyshire
Advantages: Lots of history
Disadvantages: Admission charges
...the latest technology available at its time to grind the grain Stainsby Mill still uses traditional mill stones to grind its grain.
Although the present mill dates from the early 18th century there has been a mill on this same site since the 13th century. Today it stands on the edge of the Hardwick Estate, the former family home of Bess of Hardwick and whilst it provided flour for Hardwick Hall from the late 16th century right up to 1952 the truth is that the original mill was producing flour long before Hardwick Hall was built.
The mill is operated by a huge six metre high water wheel that is powered by the River Doe Lea that is fed from a mill pond across the road. The natural course of the river would have been a further fifty metres or so further back.
The exterior of the building that houses the mill is not that impressive, in...

Quarry Bank Mill
Advantages: Interesting and educational
Disadvantages: none
...and treated his workers with great care and much compassion, building them houses in the nearby Styal village, when finished, the village included a chapel and a school.
The houses in the village are still there today to be seen and admired.
*The Apprentice house?
Also at the Mill Samuel was known to use child labour, as all employers used, but he treated the children a lot better than other employers would.
The children were housed in the nearby "apprentice house", a large building a short walk from the Mill.
The house shows how the children lived whilst working at the Mill, the N.T. tried to restore the house to its exact glory.
A school and a doctor were also provided for the children.
Surrounding the Apprentice house there is a well kept allotment which was used at the time for growing the workers food, the allotment was tendered...

Trago Mills - Everything Under One Roof
Advantages: Lots of choice, Low Prices
Disadvantages: Unsophisticated shopping, confusing layout
...more than one of each item available on the shelf.
Trago Mills (I think it was the Newton Abbot one) featured in a programme called Big Shop that was shown on Westcountry TV. One story I particularly remember was that of a couple that owned a massive manor house, but owing to the costs of maintaining it were unable to furnish it in the manner they would like because it was too expensive. Then they discovered Trago and were able to by eveything they needed to make the house look the part, at a fraction of the cost of bespoke furniture and antiques.
And this leads me to a slightly surprising point. I don't like Trago Mills. I'm running out of good things to say it. I don't like the fact that when you step inside, it's very, very difficult to navigate your way back to the outside world. You can tell that you're in a glorified...

♫ Get on down to Trago Mills ♫
Advantages: cheap, affordable products
Disadvantages: price stickers leave a mark, and you have to pay extra for carrier bags
...TRAGO MILLS - "More than you bargain for"
-----------------------------------------------------------
Mum: I think we should maybe decorate the bathroom next?
Dad: Yes OK then would you like to pop down to Trago at the weekend?
Mum: Yeah that sounds good
Little Fluffy: Can we have some toys?
Sister: Can we have some sweets?
Mum and Dad: No, we are going to look at a new bathroom suit.
Little Fluffy + Sister: *sulks*
Little Fluffy: Can we feed the ducks?
Mum: Yeah if we have time
Sister: Can we have some toys?
Mum and Dad: No
Every trip to Trago resulted in an exciting flurry of questions. I loved Trago when we had a few pounds to spend on pens, pencils, pocket toys and sweets. We could get so much more for our money compared to most high street stores.
On our way down the A38 we couldn't help but sing the ditty "Trago...

* The Bunny House *
Advantages: Funny , Plot
Disadvantages: May Send Out Wrong Message To Young Girls!
...Recently I have been swapping DVDs with my friend ; I've been borrowing her 'up-to-date' movies and she's been watching my 'rom-coms'. One of the DVDs which I borrowed from my friend was a film called ' The House Bunny'.
The House Bunny is an American romantic comedy film released in the United Kingdom on 10th October 2008. This film stars Anna Faris , (who's previous films include , Just Friends and My Super Ex Girlfriend). Running time of the movie is ninety seven minutes (seven minutes over one hour and a half).
Shelley (Faris) is a playboy playmate living a luxury life in the playboy mansion. Soon after her twenty seventh birthday , she is told that she is now too old to be a playboy bunny and so it 'thrown out' of the playboy house. Feeling upset and lonely , she tries hard to fit in with other girl groups , although soon...

Dunelm Mill the place to find all your home accessories
Advantages: great shop great products
Disadvantages: not very spacious
...Dunelm Mill is a soft furnishing store and they have shops all over the country. I have purchased several items from this shop over the years and I have always been pleased with the look and the quality.
The store sells things such as kitchen equipment( pots and pans, crockery, bread bins etc) bedding, cushions, bathroom towels and accessories, curtains and nets, and decorative accessories such as photo frames, pictures, vases, candles and artificial flowers. They usually have something that will match your own personal taste and home decoration.
They sell Brabantia items so if you are like me and love these products then this is where to find an endless amount of choice.
The stores are usually quite large and seem to be spacious until you try to get around with a trolley or a pushchair on a Saturday.
I love the fact that...
