Open University - Keep On Learning.
Advantages: You are learning at home in your own time.
Disadvantages: You have to be motivated and keep focussed.
...found everything was really well laid out and easy to understand, I noticed that it had the Crystal Mark for clarity which is always a good sign.
Although the head office of the Open University is in Milton Keynes they use Universities country wide for examinations and tutorials if they are part of the course.
I would recommend that you give this a really good read as there is a lot of information and advice in there too. After an Introduction you then see the colour coded list of courses, they are grouped together under a common theme and are
Short Introductory Course IT and Computing Courses
An introduction to finding, using and handling information and Computing Skills for Beginners.
Business and Management Studies.

Milton Keynes-Ultra Modern
Advantages: Well Planned. Modern. Good Facilities. Great Shops
Disadvantages: May lack character
...When I lived in Northamptonshire I visited Milton Keynes quite often. I went there basically for the shopping. It really is impressive. Firstly there is a huge shopping mall where you can shop til you drop and most of the big High Street names are there.
What else do I like about Milton Keynes ? In a way I think it is rather like Singapore without the sun. It is arguably the most impressive of Britain's new towns and really has been well planned. Most of the facilities are very modern including the railway station and the housing is very good indeed. Critics say its lacks character and there may be some truth in that but it is I believe a good place to live and work in. The Japanese certainly think that for there has been quite large inflows of investment from Japan into Milton Keynes. The Open University is located there...

Open University - a clever choice
Advantages: distant learning, flexible, optional tutorials, fantastic support, financial help
Disadvantages: can be expensive if you earn more than £30,000
...Hello there, this is my third review at Ciao.co.uk, but to be honest, I feel it's the first because I sent my last one about 3 and a half years ago!
Anyway, I decided to write this review about the Open University because I'm deeply enjoying my time studying with them. I first heard of the Open University from my landlady during the summer of 2006. She said that since I was working full time, I would have benefited by the flexibility of the OU and taken advantage of their excellent distant learning service.
At that time, I didn't think it was a good idea, I wanted a 'PROPER' university, where I could attend to lessons and meet people. Sadly, everywhere I went didn't have night lessons. I tried at Birkbeck in London as well, which works only with evening courses, but at the time I was living in Winchester and my wages weren't big...

Snozone Milton Keynes
Advantages: Great Fun, good facilities, helpful staff
Disadvantages: Can get over crowded in peak times
...Snozone Milton Keynes is a fantastic facility to be enjoyed by a variety of different people. Unfortunately there are many people who feel that it is expensive and nothing compared to a real snow slope- but what can you expect from an artificial slope?
We're not talking about a mountain, and in all honesty I feel that Snozone in Milton Keynes offers a brilliant day out for beginners to intermediate skiers/boarders.
The slope can get busy in peak times (evenings and weekends), so avoid these times if possible, during the day is the best time to go for recreational time. Lessons however are Snozone's best product. The customer service team in the call centre were very knowledgable on the lessons offered and were very helpful. The instructors were very good and friendly and seemed really keen on their profession. I progressed quickly...

Open Uni v Traditional Uni's
Advantages: more flexible, more organised, cheaper
Disadvantages: lack of motivation for some students
...I have just finished a degree at Wolverhampton University where as my fiancé is currently undertaking an Open University degree. The following is based on my opinion after experience with both. For arguments sake I have called the universities, which you need to attend on a regular basis traditional universities, as this is the traditional way of learning.
THE FACTS
Millions of people each year are entering university education. The Open University is Britain?s largest with more than 200,000 studying its courses. Thousands of students leave home each year to go to university.
The rest of this opinion is going to follow a scoring system. I am splitting it into categories and voting, which I think is the best.
STRUCTURE OF DEGREE
At a traditional university you have to start off with Level One modules and gain 360 credits over...

The Open University - The Best Way To Study !
Advantages: Fit study in with other commitments.
Disadvantages: It can be difficult to motivate yourself to study alone.
...I applied to a red brick university in 2003 , got a place and was due to begin in September 2004 , however I then discovered I was pregnant and the university staff advised me that they did not think it would be a good idea for me to do the course as I was due the day the course started !
I was pleased to be having my baby but was a bit disgruntled that I wouldnt be going to university because its something I had been wanting to do for a while but never had the courage to do it.
Those of you who have had children will know that signing up for all your pregnancy and baby freebies means you will also recieve hundreds of leaflets and advertising information, usually I just put it all in the recycling bin, however the leaflet for the OU caught my eye.
I sent off for a prospectus and was amazed to find that the OU had hundreds...

LIVINGWELL MILTON KEYNES
Advantages: TOTAL DE-STRESS
Disadvantages: May need to book a long time in advance
...For my Birthday last year, I received a Boots experience for LivingWell (£50); I chose to go to the LivingWell in Milton Keynes close to where my sister lives as she came with me.
We arrived at 9am and were greeted by a friendly receptionist, who gave us some forms to fill in. (For health and medical reasons). Whilst filling in the forms we were offered a drink from the café, when completed we were given a lunch menu to chose from (Included in the price), and asked what time we would like to eat. Lunch was a choice of sandwiches, fruit juice, or a glass of wine or bucks fizz.
We were than presented with a white towelling robe and two towels for our use during the day.
A member of staff then gave us a guided tour of all the facilities, which included.
A fully equipped gym, instructions and training were available for all...

Theatreland comes to Milton Keynes
Advantages: Easy access and parking, good range of events & reasonable ticket prices
Disadvantages: Small bar
...Milton Keynes Theatre will certainly win no prizes for its imaginative choice of name but how does this new facility stack up? Does new always mean good?
Milton Keynes Theatre is situated in the centre of Milton Keynes, close to the already excellent but still-improving shopping centre. It is a part of a modern theatre and art gallery complex opened in October 1999 and attracts very large numbers of visitors. Around the theatre itself there has grown up an area of bars and restaurants so there are plenty of opportunities to meet up for a drink before or dine after an evening in the theatre.
There is good parking, either in the adjoining multi-storey or in the extensive surface parking around the nearby shopping centre. The multi-storey will cost you £2 but the surface parking is free after 6pm. Access to the centre of Milton Keynes...

The best gym ever - LA Fitness Milton Keynes
Advantages: A view over a lake. Staffs are helpful and friendly
Disadvantages: A little more expensive than the others
...LA fitness Milton Keynes is a new gym just recently converted from the Dragon Club. The gym is located right by Willen Lake, a massive lake involve with all kind of water sports during the summer period.
At first, the gym may give you an impression that it?s not very big. However, it actually has three floors. The ground floor contents a swimming pool with under water blue light, a sauna, a steam room, a spa, a relaxing area and tanning room. With a large window over looking the lake and the blue light shining from the pool, you will feel a great sense of space and relaxation.
Second floor content the reception area, the main work out area, a separate treadmill area, a studio for class and the café. The main workout area is spacious contenting all the equipments you will need. There is also a spacious free weight area for those...

Quality Hotel milton Keynes
Advantages: Comfortable rooms, Wifi available
Disadvantages: Bit pricey, have to pay for Wifi
...The Quality Hotel in Milton Keynes is a super hotel to stay in even if it is a bit pricey for Milton Keynes, not that i've got anything against milton Keynes before you all start on me!! I had a double room with single occupancy and this cost me £85 per night and didn't even include Breakfast - this was another £10 if you wanted it. However i was working in Wolverton and the Tesco there did a full english breakfast with a coffee for £3.00. So unfortunatly i can not comment on the standard of the food made available for breakfast.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Milton Keynes on Monks Way, Two mile Ash MK8 8LY and is contactable on 01908 561666 or fax 01908 568303 for booking, or you can book over the internet at which you tend to get a better price.
The rooms are of a very good quality and very comfortable with all...
