.... and the optical-tracking technology provides smooth cursor movement on almost all surfaces and eliminates the hassles of mouse pad and cleaning old-fashioned mouse balls. The only downside to being wireless is that it takes batteries and with this one there is no off switch on the mouse, so when not using my computer I remove the batteries..... and have noticed by doing this the batteries do last longer, around 3 weeks for me with average usage. Overall this is a nice and neat looking little mouse and I prefer this much better than my old corded one, although I still have the old one just in case I run out of batteries when I dont have any ! There's a Mouse on my Desk! Asda Wireless Optical Mouse

Advantages: Neat, cheap, does it's job well.
Disadvantages: Can get over excited.

...Technogeeks beware! (and forgiving!) Before you read this review, let me warn you that it is not written for computer nerds, geeks or computer wizards (AKA Smartarses!). It is not highly technical because I don't know enough technobabble to be convincing! It does give you information about how I found the mouse though and I hope you find it helpful. Where to buy the wee sleekit beastie My little mouse cost me either £7.00 or £8.00 a few months ago at Asda. To be honest I was so suprised to see that Asda stocked them I didn't really look at the price. Not having bought one before, the price seemed reasonable to me, so I bunged it into my trolley along with the veg'! Not a place I would normally place a mouse! I had a wireless optical mouse which came free with my computer case but it nearly drove me mad with stopping...

Targus Mini Optical Retractable Mouse Mouse

Advantages: Super small & compact
Disadvantages: Cheaper "clones" are available

...I bought this Targus Mini Optical Retractable Mouse Mouse as I was sick of fiddling about with my laptop's trackpad and/or "nipple" mouse button when trying to demo software at work, and wanted to avoid a) unplugging my mouse from the docking station, and b) filling up my bag any more than necessary... It's really small (5.0 x 1.6 x 8.3 inches, weight: 3.2 ounces) so takes up almost no space in my bag, and although it's great on a full size table/desk, it's just as easy to use in a small work space or even on a small airplane tray. The Mini Optical Mouse is "only" USB 1.1, but that allows "plug and play" connection with USB sockets on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and Macintosh OS, I believe. Just plug it in, wait a moment while Windows does its "Found New Hardware" stuff, and you're off ! No drivers to install or anything...
