Lada Riva, Da! Spasiba!

Advantages: Die Hard Car
Disadvantages: Well, Its a Lada.

...Truth be told, Ive never actually owned one, I would never admit it, but Ive been in quite a few. This is the car made from scrap sardine cans, yet can run on Vodka, that is because, of course, it is Russian made! (In Russia, its called the Zhiguli) In most former soviet countries, including the UK.... ur, sorry, slip of the tongue, we are of course still under a communist Dictatorship (I jest) you will find a Lada Riva, or its variant, or indeed, a Lada Riva Chasis, with things welded to it, driving around at full pelt. The Engine Rev counter only needs 2 settings for display, Engine off, and Full Revs, as Ive certainly never seen a Lada of any description operating under differing circumstances. Lada is the trademark of AvtoVAZ, a Russian car manufacturer.. It was chosen for exports over the domestic Zhiguli brand, but...

Konika-Minolta Magicolor with magical printed colours

Advantages: Vivid colours, reliable, prints beautifully
Disadvantages: Photo printing quality is only 7/10 in my rating

...We bought our Konika Minolta Magicolor 2350 laser printer four years ago. We use it at home but I print quite frequently. We decided to buy this printer because it is specially designed for optimal performance in Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and other environments as well. This was important for us, as I use Windows but my husband is an IT professional and uses several other operation systems on his computers and sometimes also he wants to print something. He worked for a company where there were a lot of printers of this type and he had really good opinion about them. This opinion hasn?t changed since then. Price of the printer and cartridges When we bought it, it was on offer, so it was ?only? £650. It was a serious discount because its full price is £900. There are four cartridges in it plus the drum cartridge, we had to change...

Old fashioned RIVA TNT

Advantages: Good picture quality (relative to the specs), good price and performance
Disadvantages: Old fashion

...1. Creative Graphics Blaster RIVA TNT in brief? I know it?s a bit old, and I know also that almost no one will think of buying this product any more, however I?ve been using the TNT for a bit long time before I bought my new Graphics Card, so I felt like writing something about my old buddy. It?s a very good card by the way, and in its time, I considered it one of the most good graphics card. My card was a PCI not AGP, so it?s a bit old fashioned but still was a great performer until its last day. Anyway, talking about the card, it?s a 16MB old graphics card (SDRAM).Ah and by the way, it was considered sometime the best 2D/3D combo card on the market. 2. Product Specifications ? Interface: Either PCI or AGP (but in my case PCI, and honestly I don?t know the difference in the performance and stuff between both) ? Installed...

The wrong view

Advantages: compact, lightweight, attractive
Disadvantages: Takes crappy pictures

...I bought my Minolta camera at least 4 years ago. Having tried a variety of friends' compact cameras I decided to get one myself. I'd been pleasantly surprised that the quality of photographs compared well to my SLR camera. My main gripe with my existing camera was that it was so bulky and obvious that I was sometimes loath to pull it out on display, especially in places I was unfamiliar with, where I felt more vulnerable to being robbed. Unfortunately, I didn't go out and buy a Pentax compact like most of my friends had. No, I thought that if you spent more on a camera, you'd get more. Not true. Especially in the light of the fact that the camera's price was slashed in half about 2 months after I made the purchase (gutted? You bet). I bought the camera in Argos for £400, it quickly became available at £200, and the last time I looked...

Konica Minolta 2550 - a step up from the entry level printer

Advantages: Quality prints, quiet
Disadvantages: A little expensive to run

...The Magicolor 2550 is positioned as one of Konica Minolta's entry level colour laser printers, well almost entry level, as it offers some very nice features without taking the price of the device too high. The specification on offer from this full colour model is a cracking 20ppm (pages per minute) in monochrome and 5ppm in full colour. The native resolution is 600dpi with a x4 dithering method which beefs this up to an effective 2,400dpi. The model on review here is the standard model, which has 128MB of memory, is network ready and offers Postscript 3 printer language in addition to PCL6 and PDF support. The 2550DN which is the next model up adds a built-in duplexer and has 256MB of memory, it also adds Pictbridge support for direct connection of a compatible digital camera. Both models are capable of handling a monthly duty cycle...

Why the Pro's ignore Minolta

Advantages: None - judgment is somewhat clouded
Disadvantages: Please provide larger area the write in!

...I've been a pro photographer for over 10 years. Mainly I have used Nikon, but during a lean period in my career I update my cameras to Minolta due to cost reasons. Big mistake. I bought a 700si and a 9xi. The 9xi was released as a professional camera. It seemed sturdy and very advanced for its time. The 700si had similar features but was less sturdy, it was to be my back up camera. Just over a year after purchase, ie just out of guarantee the 9xi failed with a sticking shutter. It was repaired twice, by reputable repair centers. The final failing was whilst on a shoot in Bergen Norway, when the mirror actually fell out. A few weeks later, the back up 700si failed to rewind the film automatically. Unpeturbed, I used the liitle rubber button underneath to manually rewind. But as you can imagine this soon wore out. The result, no cameras. I...

Minolta's best yet

Advantages: Same fast printing in COLOUR as well as black
Disadvantages: Can not reduce quality to save toner

...Minolta 3100 colour laserjet printer is the flagship of their range. For small workgroups it's ideal. I personally use it to print a regular magazine, in superior quality, for subscribers. After using my inkjet printer for a few months and being frustrated at not being able to print both sides of the paper automatically, I decided to upgrade my whole output to colour laser. I first tried a budget laser printer from Minolta but found it very slow and noisy. On looking through their brochure, my attention was drawn to the 3100, priced at £1500.00 this was the best of the bunch for me. There were higher priced units but they were more suitable for large corporate businesses rather than my 'work from home' business. With a printing speed of up to 16 pages per minute, duplex printing, high capacity toner cartridges...

Small Gem - Minolta Vectis 3000

Advantages: compactness, range of features
Disadvantages: cost (of APS film)v

...I recently bought this APS camera to replace my ageing, but reliable Olympus XA compact camera (all manual, 15+ years old). After lengthy searches and scouring the reviews I decided to go for APS, and settled for the Minolta Vectis 3000, mainly because of its size and zoom capabilities. When I found it for sale on-line at the high-street price of the 2000, I jumped at the opportunity. It claims to be the "World's Smallest Fully 3X Zoom Advanced Photo System Lens Shutter Camera". I can only confirm that it is small and convenient, it fits into your trouser pocket (which my Olympus did, but that had no flash), the all in one casing protects it well, and looks quite sleek and stylish - if you like to choose your camera by its looks. The Vectis 3000 boosts a 3X zoom, and allows you to take great detailed shots of features at a distance...
