The King of APS-Completely
Advantages: Compact, weaterproof body, full multimode operation, as easy or as difficult to use as you want, capable of superb results, pinnacle of APS technology
Disadvantages: Small range of lenses, plastic lens mount, its APS so has it's own quirks.
...I remember the Minolta Vectics S1 being launched back in about 1996-when APS was being hailed as the "replacement for 35mm". Total claptrap of course and I told the Fuji rep that to his face and almost ten years later I've been proved right...
Anyway back to the camera.
When new the Vectics S1 used to be on sale for £400 c/w 22-56 zoom lens, but I purchase mine c/w a 25-150mm zoom lens from Cash Converters (again!) for the grand total of £50-bargain again eh?
The first thing I noticed is that the Vectics S1 is an extremely compact SLR camera which is down having a side mounted pentaprism-thats the device which allows you to see through the lens of the camera before taking the pic-hence the term SLR or Single Lens Reflex. However, despite being made almost entirly of plastic it does handle very well and inspires confidence...

Getting Your Kid Into Digital Cameras
Advantages: Features Like Any Regular Digital Camera
Disadvantages: 16 MB Internal Memory and No Zoom Capabilities
...No digital camera review on CIAO would be complete without a few entries about cameras designed for kids. After all, kids are almost universally enthusiastic about taking pictures. And parents with a love of photography often pass down their passion to their children. But digital cameras are not always kid-friendly, due to fragile construction, price, or complicated menus and buttons. The newest trend in children's electronics is a group of digital cameras made especially for small children. These cameras are easy to hold, come in bright colors that kids love, and have many of the same features as grown-up digital cameras. Kids love them.
The VTech KidiZoom Digital Camera is one of the top digital cameras for kids. This camera was made with fun in mind. Kids like the KidiZoom's large LCD screen and the onboard photo editing options...

Great APS camera but
Advantages: small; full of features; trusted brand
Disadvantages: uses too many batteries
...this is without a doubt one of the best APS cameras on the market. It's nearly the smallest and has one of the most poweful zooms. It also has a whole host of cool features - lots of different flashes, auto-focus etc.. My previous compact was a 35mm Olympus zoom as well - it was about 5 times the size of this one and a whole heap heavier.
I'm pretty pleased with this camera overall. It's so small that I take it with me more frequently - the photo quality is also good - as good as APS can get anyway.
If you're thinking of getting an APS or already have one but are disappointed with the picture quality here are a few hints:
Take photos in HDTV format - this is how they're all stored anyway - it gives you the best resolution.
Use Fuji Colour film instead of Kodak - I have regularly found that Kodak APS films are grainy when...

Minolta F300 - Digital Camera & Video
Advantages: Easy to use,Fantastic Photographs,Video Capabilty
Disadvantages: None
...own doing i may add,was that whilst the lead was connected from the Camera to my Laptop, the Camera was knocked to the floor and damaged the Camera part that accepts the Lead.We were going on oliday in 4 days and was desperate to get the Camera repaired. After some enquiries,i found that Minolta has a repair Service Centre in Milton Keynes. You can send the camera to them at your expense but as the situation was urgent i took the 45 minute drive to the Service Centre. The Staff were very friendly, but told me there was a 2 week wait for the repair.I explained my situation and they were happy to twist the rules for me,and i was able to pick up the Phone on our way up to Scotland for our Holiday.Included in the Flat Repair price of
£113,the outer casing which had taken the brunt of the fall was also replaced and the Camera was given a 'Service...

Lion of a camera in sheep's clothing
Advantages: FAST autofocus, sharp pictures, great value for the price!
Disadvantages: None at this level
...The Dynax 5 is Minolta's serious amateur's camera and frankly, it wipes the floor with equivalently priced models by any other manufacturer. Choc-full of features and well worth the money at a more than reasonable £250.00 (as of March 2003).
Features in detail:
LENS
You can buy the Dynax 5 on its own with no lens, or with a 28-80mm (D) zoom lens (I'll explain the 'D' bit later). Some other combinations exist, but these are down to individual companies.
The 28-80mm gives decent coverage, from landscapes to portraits, and is a good lens with which to start. If your photographic interests take you into a specific area of photography e.g. close-up work, professional portraiture, landscape photography etc, you might consider buying more specialised lenses which give better results than the basic 28-80. The Dynax 5 accepts any...

Ken's Challenge - APS Film in a nutshell
Advantages: foolproof loading, mid-roll changing
Disadvantages: more expensive to develop/process
...APS Film offers more versatility over traditional 35mm film, with 3 different picture formats, coming usually in 25 or 40 exposure reels. Developing and processing, particularly in panoramic mode can be more expensive than 35mm film. Index prints are standard, and negatives remain in the cartridge. They are foolproof to load, and can often be changed mid-roll. If travelling abroad, then stock up as availability in remote locations is not that good. APS Disposable cameras are now available too, offering good results, perhaps worth trying before buying an APS camera....

Konika-Minolta Magicolor with magical printed colours
Advantages: Vivid colours, reliable, prints beautifully
Disadvantages: Photo printing quality is only 7/10 in my rating
...We bought our Konika Minolta Magicolor 2350 laser printer four years ago. We use it at home but I print quite frequently. We decided to buy this printer because it is specially designed for optimal performance in Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and other environments as well. This was important for us, as I use Windows but my husband is an IT professional and uses several other operation systems on his computers and sometimes also he wants to print something. He worked for a company where there were a lot of printers of this type and he had really good opinion about them. This opinion hasn?t changed since then.
Price of the printer and cartridges
When we bought it, it was on offer, so it was ?only? £650. It was a serious discount because its full price is £900.
There are four cartridges in it plus the drum cartridge, we had to change...

Minolta Dimage 7(Superb Camera)
Advantages: Excellant quality pics, lots of functions, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Batteries last about 20 mins if your lucky,Power pack was 50 pounds from jessups.
...When i bought my minolta dimage 7 camera it was about 800 pounds and to be honest it is not really worth 800 pounds, its a nice looking camera with lots of different functions but theres so many cameras on the market today its hard to differenciate one digital camera from another.I think the price has come down to about 600 pounds now.try Dealtime.co.uk and search away.
Pros
You can take pictures of about 5 different sizes without losing the excellant quality, theres also different quality settings,im not a professional photographer but the only reason that i would take a lower quality picture is if i were taking pictures to use on the pc or internet, for printing i would take at best quality.Theres different settings for different types of weather ,if it is cloudy or sunny, indoor or outdoor. You can use this camera as a fully automatic...

Big enough for me to get hold of
Advantages: Easy to use, easy to handle, excellent photographs
Disadvantages: None
...Having bought and tried the Fuji APS camera as described in my recent opinion, I have decided to go back to using my Minolta Vectis 30.
This camera doesn’t have as many fancy features as the Fuji but that’s how I like it. It means that it is less complicated to use and I don’t have to mess about with it – I can just point and click!
The camera itself isn’t that much bigger than the Fuji, but it feels better in my hands (ooer missus!) I find it easier to hold because of its more rounded shape and so I feel more comfortable when taking my photographs.
To take a photograph I just have to slide the lens cover across, which switches on the camera, look through the viewfinder until I am happy with the shot and then press the shutter release button on the top.
It is an APS camera, which means that it...

Minolta Dimage 7i 5 Megapixel Digital Camera
Advantages: Feels Good, Looks Good, Fantatic Pictures
Disadvantages: No Battery Pack - uses AA batteries
...Hi,
I have owned this camera for about 2 years now, what Can I say, impressive.
BUILD QUALITY
Excellent build - feels robust, feels solid, feels reliable (which it is)
LENS
The lens is a 7x Optical 28 - 200mm lens. With the manual control of the zoom you dont get the annoying jerkiness of the motor controlled zooms of lesser cameras.
Detail is excellent, no fringing, or other artefacts, no purple edges on dark/light areas, no pin-cushionng at any zoom range.
FEATURES
With macro mode at both lelephoto and wide angle you can get right in on the detail.
Excellent fast autofocus - even in dull conditions
Manual focus for perfet results - and point focus for a specific area of the photo.
Many manual controls - white balance, PASM programme mode, apeture mode, shutter speed mode or manual mode make this very...
