Supurb SLR - especially for Minolta users.

Advantages: Excellent build quality, ergonomically laid out controls, fast auto focus and lcd screen showing plenty of information.
Disadvantages: Expensive camera, expensive accessories.

...major settings and it becomes a point and shoot device. I have used the camera for weddings, holidays and proud to say I captured the last commercial flights made by Concorde. All pictures from this camera came out perfectly and have never failed me due to an equipment limitation. My previous SLRs were the Dynax 7 and Dynax 600si and this latest incarnation of the Minolta ?7? series SLR does not disappoint. Fans and users of Minolta will find the quality and feel of the camera very familiar....

Camera Bubble

Advantages: Watertight, Floats very easily, Safe
Disadvantages: Floats very easily, "The Scare Factor", space for the flash

...and a neck strap. Will it fit my camera? I was lucky enough to be able to visit a local supplier to try this kit out and see if my camera would fit. The U-A will take a entry level / normal sized SLR such as the canon EOS 350D or 400D with or without a grip/ drive and a standard 18-55mm / 28-70mm lens. Please note that on a 350D the pop up flash will still pop, and can be used, but the effects on something like this are very limited underwater. The UA should fit any SLR Camera no more than 135mm high, with a lens no wider than 80mm and a back to front of lens measurement (fully extended) of 170mm. The lens barrel part of the kit is extendable and so will allow you to use a twist zoom lens, but manual focusing is likely to be difficult. Zooming will be fiddly, but can be done. The dry run... (Please excuse the pun) First...

Lion of a camera in sheep's clothing

Advantages: FAST autofocus, sharp pictures, great value for the price!
Disadvantages: None at this level

...means that with the correct type of lens (D-series), and with the built-in flash or a separate Minolta flashgun (5600HS or 3600HS), the camera will calculate just how much flash is necessary and use only what is needed, leading to better-exposed pictures. The system does indeed work, in my experience, and Minolta are bringing out more D-series lenses as time goes on. A useful little feature. Just a final note on lenses (especially if you upgrade to an expensive one) - buy a UV filter for your lens (£8) and leave it on. If the filter is damaged, you can replace it for a mere £8, but if you damage the actual lens, you're looking to pay a lot more! AUTOFOCUS If you are looking for a point-and-shoot SLR, the Dynax 5 has a VERY fast autofocus system, based around a 7-point sensor. It will provide good, well-focused shots in all but...

Minolta F300 - Digital Camera & Video

Advantages: Easy to use,Fantastic Photographs,Video Capabilty
Disadvantages: None

...own doing i may add,was that whilst the lead was connected from the Camera to my Laptop, the Camera was knocked to the floor and damaged the Camera part that accepts the Lead.We were going on oliday in 4 days and was desperate to get the Camera repaired. After some enquiries,i found that Minolta has a repair Service Centre in Milton Keynes. You can send the camera to them at your expense but as the situation was urgent i took the 45 minute drive to the Service Centre. The Staff were very friendly, but told me there was a 2 week wait for the repair.I explained my situation and they were happy to twist the rules for me,and i was able to pick up the Phone on our way up to Scotland for our Holiday.Included in the Flat Repair price of £113,the outer casing which had taken the brunt of the fall was also replaced and the Camera was given a 'Service...

A great little film SLR system

Advantages: Small, simple, packed with many, many features, great optics from the better lenses
Disadvantages: Small film format, dated AF technology

...35 AF SLRs. Much of the AF technology (albiet a generation behind current) and 14 segment or spot metering found in my 9000 is also here, so it is familiar territory and works the best of any metering system I have ever used. The programming modes is again for ametures with limited serious user overrides, but I must say I have not lost a picture due to it. The lenses are optically excellent (note I picked the best of the sytem offerings, the consumers lenses are so-so) and in part were designed for digital use! the first Minolta RF digital cameras took the vectis lenses and the 17/3.5, a digiital lens made for thre RF, is an outstanding performer. Keep in mind many digital SLRs sensor uses the APS-C size...yes that is the same APS size area as the film. I bought tons of Fuji 200 APS film cheap on *bay so I am well stocked. I will...

Go for an SLR

Advantages: SLR's are cheaper! Development is cool!
Disadvantages: Digital is convenient! Plus colour is easier!

...If your considering buying a camera, and you have a similar mindset to me, you could never go digital. To put things in perspective, I have just finished a photography GCSE course and got a B. I have just started A-level, and have aspirations to go to university and do a BA in photography. I really don't care much about cameras, but I can recognise the fact that a camera does help a photographer improve. The debate shouldn't be Digital vs. SLR - it should be 35mm vs. Medium Format! Limiting yourself to an SLR is pretty constricting when you consider the options. Digital is out of the question for anyone who wants to do anything creative with their photography - you lose access to the darkroom (unless you print transparencies on your printer), which is the best way to have fun with photography. Photoshop is a good way of getting...

Minolta Dimage 7(Superb Camera)

Advantages: Excellant quality pics, lots of functions, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Batteries last about 20 mins if your lucky,Power pack was 50 pounds from jessups.

...When i bought my minolta dimage 7 camera it was about 800 pounds and to be honest it is not really worth 800 pounds, its a nice looking camera with lots of different functions but theres so many cameras on the market today its hard to differenciate one digital camera from another.I think the price has come down to about 600 pounds now.try Dealtime.co.uk and search away. Pros You can take pictures of about 5 different sizes without losing the excellant quality, theres also different quality settings,im not a professional photographer but the only reason that i would take a lower quality picture is if i were taking pictures to use on the pc or internet, for printing i would take at best quality.Theres different settings for different types of weather ,if it is cloudy or sunny, indoor or outdoor. You can use this camera as a fully automatic...

Konika-Minolta Magicolor with magical printed colours

Advantages: Vivid colours, reliable, prints beautifully
Disadvantages: Photo printing quality is only 7/10 in my rating

...We bought our Konika Minolta Magicolor 2350 laser printer four years ago. We use it at home but I print quite frequently. We decided to buy this printer because it is specially designed for optimal performance in Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, and other environments as well. This was important for us, as I use Windows but my husband is an IT professional and uses several other operation systems on his computers and sometimes also he wants to print something. He worked for a company where there were a lot of printers of this type and he had really good opinion about them. This opinion hasn?t changed since then. Price of the printer and cartridges When we bought it, it was on offer, so it was ?only? £650. It was a serious discount because its full price is £900. There are four cartridges in it plus the drum cartridge, we had to change...

Getting Your Kid Into Digital Cameras

Advantages: Features Like Any Regular Digital Camera
Disadvantages: 16 MB Internal Memory and No Zoom Capabilities

...No digital camera review on CIAO would be complete without a few entries about cameras designed for kids. After all, kids are almost universally enthusiastic about taking pictures. And parents with a love of photography often pass down their passion to their children. But digital cameras are not always kid-friendly, due to fragile construction, price, or complicated menus and buttons. The newest trend in children's electronics is a group of digital cameras made especially for small children. These cameras are easy to hold, come in bright colors that kids love, and have many of the same features as grown-up digital cameras. Kids love them. The VTech KidiZoom Digital Camera is one of the top digital cameras for kids. This camera was made with fun in mind. Kids like the KidiZoom's large LCD screen and the onboard photo editing options...

The SLR is dead. Long Live the SLR!

Advantages: Good range of features, Lightweight, Cheap
Disadvantages: Out-dated, out-specc'd

...Four years ago I wanted to buy a camera to accompany me on my travels. At the risk of sounding 'snobbish' I wanted something I could use to take photographs rather than just holiday snaps. What I wanted was an slr. But what to choose? With prices ranging from £100 - £1000 (and more!) I had to think long and hard. I didn't want to spend more than £300 as an absolute maximum but I wanted something that would introduce me to photography gently. Something that would allow me to take holiday snaps as well as exercise a bit more creativity. The minolta 505si fitted the bill admirably, and still does although there are now better cameras available. The first thing you notice about the camera is that, for an slr, it is small. and light! Even with a standard lens attached, it's probably one of the lightest slrs you are going to find...
