NOTHING MINOR TO REPORT

...The gloves are off, or is it more like keypad cover, and another review is due in the always moving chronicles of films made by the big movers and shakers in Hollywood. In case you’ve not watched any TV recently, Minority Report has only been advertised every other minute. Having massive names such as Spielberg and Cruise does tend to give it that slight nudge forward in terms of hype and marketing. Despite being a moderate Cruise fan, but having avoided wasting my time watching what I thought was a sickly Vanilla Sky (despite having the heavenly Penelope Cruz-swooooon, in it), I thought this looked promising enough to warrant seeing. Cubz - a minority - reporting

Advantages: A darn good yarn, not so much a whodunnit, as a who's-gonna-do-it
Disadvantages: Some stunts and effects felt wrong

...I?ve never really been a Tom Cruise fan, but lately, I?m kind of warming to the guy, I went to see Vanilla Sky a while back, and was blown away by the whole thing, so I was quite eager to see Minority Report? Basically, the plot revolves around John Anderton (Cruise), the head of an elite team of ?pre-crime? police officers, who arrest people for crimes they have yet to commit, as seen by the ?pre-cogs?, three genetically mutated humans whose accidental power of pre-cognition has been harnessed to foresee and prevent murders before they happen. Advantages: good spielberg/cruise action
Disadvantages: in my view none but some people will not like it

...to clear his name is to find out if he has a minority report which is when one of the three precogs disagrees with the others so the crime is not guaranteed to happen but the only way to find out is to break in to the pre crime headquarters and kidnap Agatha because she is the most psychic of them. This film has a great futuristic view, the scene when he is jumping from car to car on the magnetic motorway is amazing and the way all the buildings and interiors have been made to look is very realistic to what they might look like in 50 years time. This film was a massive hit at the cinema making over $230m worldwide and £20m in the uk alone so this film looks certain to been a massive hit on DVD. If you liked films like A.I. or Blade Runner you will love this, because in my view the writer Phillip K Dick is on of the best around...

THE REPORT ON THE MINORITY REPORT

Advantages: A Movie with lots of twists and turns
Disadvantages: A bit to technical in places

...I rented Minority Report out of Blockbuster Videos only two nights ago and I have to say that Tom Cruise played a brilliant performance on acting his part. The movie is a futuristic thriller set in Washington D.C. in the year 2054 about a man who stops people from crimes that they have not yet committed in a hope to free humanity from crime altogether. Inside the justice department building are people called Pre-Cogs who work as a collective mind to find crime and inform the police who then go and stop it from ever taking place. The story then takes a twist and he becomes the most wanted suspect in a crime that was soon to take place involving him murdering a man. Confused and scared he manages to escape the building without being arrested. The movie then moves on to show how he will prove that he was not about to commit a crime...

  Minor Masterpiece

Advantages: Brilliant, a real return to past Spielberg excellence.
Disadvantages: Momentary lapses of style, nothing serious.

...I know originality is a precious commodity to come by these days, but I hoped that at least Spielberg would have been able to muster some and not just mimic other movies. He tried hard but there were definite touches of The Matrix, Robocop, Total Recall, The Terminator, The Fugitive and also every other Spielberg movie. I appreciate how hard it must have been to make a satisfactory adaptation of a Philip K Dick novel and I was also impressed that we didn?t simply get Blade Runner 2. Many Directors find it hard to make a futuristic film without showing off every cool idea they had and often forget to tell a story, lost in their own inventiveness. Spielberg did this a little with A.I and got carried away with the robots and his own imagination. So it is good to see that Minority Report uses its setting to good effect but does not go...

Advantages: Great film
Disadvantages: too many high tech things? makes me want them too

...'t understand it along with most of the other people i watched it with... However, the story does develop and very soon (about 20 minutes into the film) you will begin to understand what happens. There are some very clever concepts in the film and one of the best things about this film is how all the little minor details that are given, all interlink with each other and eventually give away the whole plot. It is unbelievable how well Speilberg creates these twists and there are a lot of twists in this movie. The graphics of the film are very good too, unrealistic but of course this film has been set into the future. I must imagine that this film would have cost LOTS to make just for all the special effects that have been incorporated. minority report gets A plus

Advantages: brill special effects
Disadvantages: a tad too long

...chasing him through the city. He then goes to see the scientist that invented precrime and she tells him of the minority report which are kept locked inside the heads of the precogs and he breaks back into the headquarters of precrime( with a new pair of eyes along the way - this bit is pretty gross) and steals the female precog. This is when the action really starts. The chain of events continues and he ends up in the hotel room of the guy he was due to murder. All the evidence suggests this man killed his son. a skuffle breaks out and the man dies. I won't give you the ending of the film as there is quite a twist in the tail, but wow this film amazed me. The film is a twelve but I not sure I would take a 12 year old to the film as some parts are very gory. But I would heartily suggest every adult go see it as males and females alike will...

Not just for the Minority

Advantages: Gripping plot and no sci-fi just for the sake of it
Disadvantages: You will need to keep your wits about you

...Now what else would any self-respecting couple in their thirty-somethings do on a Sunday night than waddle off to the local CineWorld to catch the latest flick? Of course we have the usual battle of the sexes (he wants violence, science fiction, fantasy and lots of men in uniforms ? that?s another story!) and I want well, pink and fluffy, Barbie-meets-Ken kinda stuff. Unlike the thorough drubbing I gave Vanilla Sky, I think my praise of Minority Report is going to fit right in with the other good things that have been said about it, and with reason: This is a great film. Did we expect anything less from Spielberg? Washington DC, 2054, and "pre-cognitives" can predict murder before it happens. It is a six-year project on the brink of nationalisation and Det. John Anderton (TOM CRUISE) is the best in the business at bringing in the criminals before the crime is actually committed.
