Anyone for Pimms?
Review of Recipes for Drinks by
chocomofo
Advantages: Fruity, refreshing summer drink
Disadvantages: dont drink too much! ;-)
...Gorgeous cocktail of pimms i discovered on holiday....
1 part pimms
2 parts lemonade
1 sliced orange
1 sliced lemon
Handful of sliced cucumber
Handful of mint leaves
Lots of ice!
Wash the fruit well and add all the ingredients above (including all fruit skins) into a large drink containner. The secret is to leave the ingredients mixed together for a few hours before serving so all the flavour from the fruit, cucumber and mint can infuse into the pimms and lemonade. Alternatively you can use ginder ale instead of lemonade or a mix of both as this adds another great flavour.
Perfect for summer and very very light and refreshing to drink! Perfect for BBQ's! and if you cut the fruit into nice chunks you can eat them after you've finished your drink!...

In Mint Condition
Review of Mint by
e.j.kingham
Advantages: Many medicinal benefits and tasty too.
Disadvantages: Not reccomended in a number of circumstances.
...with mucus membranes such as the inner nose or the mouth. In some people, peppermint oil may cause burning or an upset stomach.
Children should be supervised when taking mint in any form as the strong menthol taste can induce choking. Most infusions can be sweetened to aid this problem. Previously, mint was used to treat infant colic but it is not recommended today, camomile is suggested as an alternative.
What time is it?
While my review has mainly focused on the medicinal uses of mint, it wouldn't be complete without a mention of my favourite use. Mint is the icing on the cake in a Pimms and lemonade! Here's my recipe for a perfect refreshing drink:
Two parts lemonade to one part Pimms (yes I'm generous!), plenty of ice, a sprig or two of mint, sliced lemon, cucumber, strawberries and apples. Best served chilled and in the garden with some...

So wickedly good
Review of After Eight Ice Cream Dessert by
CaptainKidd
Advantages: Tastes just like it's chocolate bar namesake
Disadvantages: You always want more.
...frozen , with no need to defrost before serving , this delicacy is packaged in a box bearing the familiar dark green colours . On show is the delicacy in question and the infamous trade mark / logo of clock between the words After Eight. Open the box and you have the obligatory dark green wrapper . Open this to find your dessert nicely placed on a handy serving tray .
Now imagine the After Eight mint - yes , now picture the ice cream dessert . A dark chocolate flavored ( it always is these days ) coating . Beneath this a thick chocolate ice cream layer . Within this a white , mint flavored , ice cream centre , that has nine thin lines of chocolate running through its length of 6 inches .
Now just slice and serve to your guests , or better still just to yourself . There are approximately six servings here , and the whole thing weighs...

three of my cocktails
Review of Recipes for Drinks by
traveller55
Advantages: if you like
Disadvantages: if you don't like
...Today I would like to propose you some of my cocktail recipes.
***Sand and Wind***
In a frozen glass for Martini (you know that is the one with "V" shape) put a lump of sugar (if you don't have it just use a full teaspoon of sugar), add two drops of mint liqueur (like Bols) and then fill the glass with chilled vodka (I use Absolute Blue). Add half teaspoon of lemon juice and stir gently. Garnish with a mint leaf.
Best with some thin slices of smoked salmon and/or caviar canapé.
***Lucky***
Put in a shaker 50% of chilled vodka (Absolute Blue or Sky), 35% of Kalhua, 15% of strong cold coffee (if possible a tight Italian espresso), some ice cubes. Shake very well and then pour, using a strainer, in a frozen goblet. Add a coffee bean and garnish with a mint leaf.
Sip this cocktail with you lover in front of a fireplace...

Kicks like a mule
Review of Top 10 Drinks Cocktails by
Pheonixx
Advantages: Any excuse for a get together
Disadvantages: Dont remember inviting him
...What can you say about cocktails? Apart from they’re fun to make and fun to drink, especially with your friends (actually this is a must because the more people you have round, the more chance you have of remembering what you did ‘last night’). May be not so much fun the morning after, but I suppose that if you want the pleasure you got to endure some pain.
Right these are not in any particular order………………
Singapore Sling.
Cooling for the summer.
2 measures of gin
1 measure of cherry brandy
1 measure of lemon juice
Soda water
Cracked ice and a few cubes
Slice of lemon
Slice of orange
1 maraschino cherry and a sprig of mint
Combine the gin, cherry brandy, lemon juice and the cracked ice in a shaker, and mix well...

By gum it's spearmint
Review of Spearmint by
BizzyLizzy
Advantages: easy to grow
Disadvantages: can take over a small area
...Spearmint and it’s relation Peppermint are really smelly and remind me of toothpaste and chewing gum when I screw up some leaves, but they are very useful plants to have in a tub or herb border.
The ubiquitous mint sauce (for lamb dishes) is not very nice if made from either spearmint or peppermint. You need one of the other many varieties for this. Instead try using spearmint as a tea. Chop up some leaves and pour boiling water over them. Cover the mug with a saucer and when it’s cool enough to drink, strain out the leaves and enjoy. Iced spearmint tea is wonderfully refreshing in very hot weather. You could even add some sprigs of spearmint and slice of lemon to a glass of cold ‘ordinary tea’. Spearmint is also a very good flavouring for chocolate and mint puddings.
Freshen your breath by chewing a leaf...

They smell like sweaty feet but taste delicious
Review of Walkers Sensations - Four Cheese & Red Onion by
nancyoshea
Advantages: Lovely cheesey taste. Crunchy and thick.
Disadvantages: They smell horrible.
...Yesterday I wrote an opinion on Walkers Sensations Lamb and mint flavour and was so impressed that I have since been out to purchase another packet in the Sensations range.
This time I returned home from the local newsagents with a packet of four cheese and red onion flavour.
The packet was 39p and is available from almost anywhere that sells crisps or savoury snacks.
The packet is nearly the same as the lamb and mint flavour, white and grey and quite adult looking. The only difference is that instead of a leg of lamb and a sprig of mint on the front these have a combination of cheeses and a slice of red onion.
On opening the packet I was quite taken aback by the strong smell which did remind me of sweaty feet heh heh.
The cheese aroma was very strong.
The crisps again looked very thick and golden in colour but they have a very...

Mints for the Moneyed
Review of O\zon Cool Mints by
bluefrog199
Advantages: cool as cool can be
Disadvantages: mega rip off
...) are cool. Or are they? Perhaps they are merely a sad and damning indictment of a society so obsessed with the superficial that the most perfunctory and utilitarian of products must be cloaked in a shallow veneer of ersatz sophistication. Hmmmm. No, actually I think they ARE pretty cool. In a superficial and society-indicting sort of way. Not cool like, say, James Dean. James Dean would just wap out a packet of Polos and to hell with it. More like cool in a brushed aluminium, Hoxton bar, Corona-with-a-slice-of-lime, French-cigarette sort of way. Which many people would argue isn't cool at all, but rather a sad indictment etc. etc.
Ho hum. But let's not get bogged down with image. What about the mints themselves? Well, you get about fifty in a tin, and they're, well, just mints, really. Little mints. Pretty much like Smints, in fact, but without...

Montagne Jeunesse Tired Leg Gel Cherry & Iced Mint
Review of Montagne Jeunesse Tired Leg Gel by
mints4merlin
Advantages: nice fragrance, makes you feel pampered
Disadvantages: messy, quite expensive, also makes hands tingle
...COST: 99p
PLACE OF PURCHASE: Tesco
AMOUNT: 25ml
BRAND: Montagne Jeunesse Ltd
TESTED ON ANIMALS: no
Packaging:
Comes in a foot shaped foil sachet form. Contains 25ml which is squeezed out though a tear you can make with the perferation made at the top right hand corner of the pack. You're bound to have spotted this or one of the similar products in this range, and so maybe familar with the bold and vibrant coloured packaging. This one is no exception it comes on a bright green and purple paste coloured foot design. Each toe has mint or cherry slices on too.
Smell:
From the title you may have though it was a dessert, as I personally think an ice cream in this flavour would be true heaven! ...perhaps I'd make a pretty penny suggesting it to Haagendaz or Ben & Jerry's? but in later days perhaps.
I wouldn't say this smells much of cherry...
