Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Trent Barton - A Real Mixed Bag

Advantages: Polite Drivers, relatively new buses
Disadvantages: poor punctuality, low customer care, VERY expensive

...I live on the outskirts of Nottingham and, as i have no car, busses are often the only way I can get around. The ONLY bus service that operates through my area is Trent Barton (the rainbow 4 service and the 15, 18/32 and commuter express services). It is fair to say that travelling with Trent Barton is like playing the lottery, if you get lucky things are very good....but if you aren't lucky it can be really frustrating. For example, here's a little itinery of two days this week when I used Trent Barton. DAY ONE Arrive at the bus stop five minutes before the bus is due. Having waited fifteen minutes two busses arrive at once, I wave the bus down and the ask the driver for my fare, he utters not a word, gives me a ticket and change. Closing The Ring - Barton Shines

Advantages: Romantic, touching, interesting story, great performance by Barton
Disadvantages: Cried to much, involved with the IRA makes it very dark places

...As a fan of Mischa Barton I was excited to see, this romantic but traumatic tear jerker of a film, which switches been 1941 and 1991. The film starts at a funeral of the main characters late husband and is not interested in saying goodbye to the man that she was married to for 50 years, but she has a secret that she has kept for over 50 years. The story then changes to early 1990's Ireland in the middle of the IRA's campaign. I found this part of the story of interesting as the founding of the ring that pieces together the events of 1941 and 1991. The film then goes back to 1941 with the story of how the ring got to Ireland and the tale of three boys in love with the same girl and how it ended, with a marriage and death and a hidden wall. The story is sad at sometimes, I went through half a box of tissues as I cried so much...

...I came across this product in Asda last week when I was looking for something to give my fine hair a bit more body. At £3.00 for 250ml I thought it wasn't too expensive and if it didn't work, as so many different products I've tried didn't, well at least I hadn't wasted too much money. It comes in a tall cylindrical black plastic bottle with a lift off top and has a spray applicator. ...With such hot and wilting weather that we are having these days, I can't think of a better book to read with your child than 'The Pig in the Pond'. It is written by Martin Waddell who is one of our favourite children's authors and has written such wonderful books as 'Owl Babies' and 'Snow Bears'. In this book he is ably partnered by the illustrator Jill Barton. 'The Pig in the Pond' is a lovely picture book that tells a sweet but simple story about what happened on a very hot and dry day. Wappity bappity bing bang pop!

Advantages: Wonderful language and illustrations
Disadvantages: For me, it could be longer.

It will be as much a delight for most adults as for children, so it is a book to be enjoyed together, savouring the wonderful sounds that Phyllis Root has conjured up here. This is magical language. Jill Barton's colourful illustrations fill every page and make this book a visual treasure as much as a linguistic one.
