Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

Advantages: A heart warming tale that will make you view the world differently if only while you're reading the book
Disadvantages: I didn't have any tissues with me when I was reading it

...I bought this book while I was on holiday in the US and read it in one evening. I was that engrossed in the story and the character of Morrie. Morrie is dying and Mitch learns this fact almost too late but manages to spend time with Morrie before he dies during which time Morrie imparts his wisdom and experiences he has learnt from during his life. I found this book deeply moving and have recommended it to numerous friends and family or lent them my copy and have added it to my list of favourite books for the year if not my all time list. It makes you think and view the world in a slightly different manner, it makes you aware of other people and their feelings and reminds you that everyone is special and deserves your time/kindness. These thoughts/ideas may not last with you but at least it's a nice reminder that people...

...Mitch Albom?s books always sound so enticing and from the moment I read the blurb on the back cover I just know I have to purchase it. The last Albom book I read The Five People You Meet In Heaven was exactly like this but left me feeling a little disappointed after I had read it and unfortunately ?For One More Day? also left me feeling the same. The book?s blurb draws you into a world you think you are going to left and entices you to read a book you think you?ll never want to put down but for me this just wasn?t how my reading of the book left me feeling. The blurb?s short snappy sentences and intriguing plotline premise seem in my opinion to be written much better than the rest of the book actually is and although the story itself isn?t car-crash material it isn?t exactly price-winning either in my opinion. ...Tuesdays with Morrie; an old man, a young man and life's great lesson. So, there's the title which in itself proved a 'hook' for me, that and the fact I had read one other of Mitch Albom's books. It took me less than three days to finish this book, you really won't want to put it down once you start. Mitch Albom wrote this book as a tribute to, and collaboration with a professor from his old college (University), Morrie Schwartz. Schwartz had taught Social Psychology in the 1970's at Brandeis University in Massachusetts which is where Mitch graduated from in 1979. After graduation Mitch went on to carve a career in sports journalism and became a well known name in the USA, then in 1995 that he heard Morrie was ill, in fact, slowly dying. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk.
