...This is one of Gemini's collection. This company are renound for the quality of their mixers. They can offer the best value for money on the market. This one has these features; high, mid, low, gain adjustment, kill switches, beat LED bars, diffferent out puts & inputs, unassignable cross fader, mic input & adjustment, talk over functuin, 12 second sampler with adjustments in pitch, volume etc (great for echo effects), headphone cue-ing adjustment, reversable cross fader and gradual to sharp fading settings. This was the first mixer I purchased. It is simple to use, easy to set up (plug & play basically). The only problem I had was the cross fader wore out within 4 or so months. ...I'm the first to admit when it comes to electrical items some might say I'm a bit of a snob. I'll only buy brand name things, under the impression rightly or wrongly it's better to pay a bit extra once than have to replace a cheap item a couple of times. So when my Nan bought me this hand mixer for my birthday I wasn't sure what to expect. She knows I enjoy baking and she enjoys the end results, maybe she was hoping this would mean I baked more for her. This little hand mixer comes in white, and is a fairly inoffensive looking piece of equipment. It won't win any prizes for it's looks but you won't feel embarrassed if you leave it on your work top. The mixer has a slot on each side so that you can store the beaters with it, meaning they won't get lost amongst your other utensils in the drawer. It comes with 5 speed settings...

...Gemini are one of the world's best known mixer manufacturers, and are usually high up on the sales figure tables. This is conclusive proof of just how much they know about making mixers. In fact the 626 is the most popular 'home' mixer out there. I chose the 626 over the other possibilities after using my mates Gemini 676 mixer. The 676 is basically the same mixer, but with the addition of a sampler. Thinking that my keyboard has an on-board sampler, and the mixer has three input channels, then I figured it would be much better value to just buy the 626 and spend the other £50 on vinyl and another link cable, so I could hook up the keyboard. Each channel has a line or phono input, changable by way of a Single Pole Double Throw switch on the face of the unit. The inputs are easy to connect up and have a nice snug feel to them...

...I bought this mixer as my first mixer after deciding to buy first decks and I think that it is good value for money. It is quite simplistic, but I realised quickly you don't need something fancy when you are just learning to beatmatch. It is simple but what it does, it does well. The USB function is a good feature you don't get in a lot of mixers in this price range, I havent yet used it to record a mix but from what i have read it isnt hard to do if you have the right program and is useful if you only have a laptop which only has a USB and not standard audio connection that you get on desktops and wanna record a mix. I have had it a year now and am now looking to upgrade, but this only because my mixing has come on from what I have learnt from this mixer, and I want to add more to my mix with functions like kill switches, effects...

Behringer VMX 300 Mixer

Advantages: BPM counter, Bass/Mid/Treble cut out/volume controls, nice and robust feel to it
Disadvantages: I cant think of any!

...I have owned this mixer for a couple of years now and it still works as well today as it did when it was new. Its a decent sized mixer and feels quite weighty and well made. The controls are nice and smooth and the cross fader is very responsive. There is a seperate control to adjust the sensitivity of the cross fader to help facilitate the users style of mixing. The mixer has 3 channels, each with 2 inputs. This allows for up to 6 pieces of kit to be attached to it. Personnaly, ive got my turntables, CD player and tape player going through it. There is also 2 outputs, one to go to the amplifier and another 'booth' output. I have connected the booth output to my PC so I can record both my mixes and also CD's or Tapes. This is great for saving them ever-fading 'old skool' tapes and burning to CD! There are 3 cut out switches...
