VW Mk2 Golf GTi
Review of VW Golf II GTI by mikebrum123

Advantages: Reliable classic. Powerful, agile and still looks great.
Disadvantages: Bland interior.

...The Mk2 Golf GTi is an iconic eighties hatchback. The model I have been driving for the last year is an 1989 8 valve GTi and is a car that has been a pleasure to own and drive. The handling is remarkably deft and capable considering the age of the car and handles as well as, if not better than, many modern hatchbacks. The car is also surprisingly powerful, with far greater acceleration than than many of the sporty new little corsas and clios etc. Most of these Golfs now have very high mileage but that is famously not much of a problem with these cars, many of which have been able to pick up an astronomical mileage. My own has covered nearly 100,000 miles which is actually quite low compared to most mk2 golfs around. The cons of this car for me have been a problem with the gear linkage that is apparently very commen with the mark... Read review

Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3 Review
Review of Pioneer CDJ1000 MK3 CD/MP3 Player by benaldo3333

Advantages: Greater functionality and ease of use
Disadvantages: Price

...This review is based on my experiences of using this product. It is not an in-depth look at its specification. This is a general review on the CDJ-1000MK3, and a comparison with the MK2. First, a little about my use of the product. I have been djing for over four years now, and started off on a pair of Numark turntables playing vinyl. As the times changed in line with the digital revolution, I, as well as other aspiring dj's, needed to start playing with digital equipment playing cd's. I have never owned a CDJ-1000 but have had extensive use of them in clubs and round at my friends house. Pro's Well where can I start? Firstly I would like to make it clear that the MK3's are the industry standard throught the club scene - any decent club night will have at least two of these installed. This is due to many things. The sound quality... Read review

The Legend continues?
Review of Technics SL1210MK5 by edlloyd01

Advantages: can't go wrong
Disadvantages: overpriced

...It's the same review as the Technics SL-1200 MK5 because the only difference between the SL-1200 MK5 and SL-1210 MK5 is the colour. The SL-1200 is silver and the SL1210 is black. Not many people realise it. The amount of people I've met who say "yeah...the 1210's are better aren't they!?" and "the 1210's are more powerful". When I was trying to sell 1200's MK2, I had difficulty selling them to 2nd hand stores because the shops were only after 1210's because of this illusion that the 1210 is a better deck With my experience of this turntable I would say it is a very good turntable for the use of Dj'ing. The only thing I dont agree with about this turntable is the price. As other Dj turntables produces began to make turntables of the same quality and standard for lower prices the technics deck is starting to become outdated. Though it... Read review

introducing the infamous MK2 VW golf G60
Review of VW Golf II VR6 by arazmadaz

Advantages: provides the driver with a magical mix of class and power in one small package
Disadvantages: hard to find a mk golf in pristine condition but when found well worth it!

...Describing the mk two golf in such a limited space is like sqeezing a man in a mouse hole but i will try. When i first seen the mk two golf i immediately fell in love with it. it's sporty look and feel can only be compared with driving a subaru impreza but there is no comparison to its look and toughness. the last models of this beautifully sculpted car are still a common automobile on the streets of britain and the world over. the vr6 engine is powered by a powerful 2.0 litre engine that quite frankly 'goes like the wind!' if you are one of the many lucky recipitents of this glorious car then you will agree will me that this is a fun car to drive. This car is only out done by the original and arguably the best of the range, i am ofcoarse talking about the mk1 golf. even to this day if u drive past in a mk2 golf... Read review

Midway should have stuck to Mortal Kombat...
Review of Wargods (PC) by sghosh

Advantages: Spot-On conversion of the arcade game
Disadvantages: The arcade version was poo to start off with

...This is one of those long forgotten games in the mid 90s. Midway were the ones responsible for this game, who were the ones behind Mortal Kombat. At that time (1997 ish), Mortal Kombat still hadn't entered the 3D scene, with the last MK beat em up being MK Trilogy, what was ultimately the last of the 2D MK generation (not counting the platformer MK Mythologies, a tremendous pile of horse plop). Midway were looking to bring out a 3D gamer to knock the gaming world off its feet. It managed only the former. Yes, Midway did finally put out a 3D beat em game pretty much of the Mortal Kombat mould. But new doesn't mean better. Lets start with the negatives. Graphically the PC is identical to the arcade version (minus the smooth polygons). The polygon models for the characters are pretty basic, and the fighters basically look deformed. Add... Good.
Review of Combat Flight Simulator (PC) by Grix_Thraves

Advantages: Good, war, fun.
Disadvantages: A bit limited.

...Flight Simulator. It’s one of the best selling simulations of all time, yet to many, it’s the embodiment of sheer boredom. Happily, though, with the discreet but strategic addition of the word ‘Combat’, Flight Simulator has earned its stripes, with added guns, bombs and thrills. World War I may have had the romance and the fabled Aces, but CFS brings us World War II, when aerial combat came of age. Strangely, considering the mild import of the period, WWII has rarely starred in a successful flight sim, but again, Microsoft have rectified all that with this plum of a simulation. There are eight classic WWII aircraft to fly, all faithfully recreated with spot-on avionics. In the Battle of Britain scenarios, the RAF can choose between the legendary Spitfire Mk.1 and Mk.IX, and the Hurricane Mk.1. In the Battle over Europe, the USAAF can... Read review

Ford Fiesta XR2 (MK1)
Review of Ford Fiesta XR2 by evo100

Advantages: Great fun, great handling.
Disadvantages: Only a 4 speed gearbox.

...The original MK1 Fiesta XR2 (1981 to 1983) was a fantastic little car (hot hatch), very 80's. Not the fastest Fiesta around anymore, but great fun to drive, cheap to run and practical enough for everyday use. Never let me down, but could have done with a 5 Speed gearbox for motorway driving, but was a great drive down any small A-Roads. Great following of the original Fiesta XR2 now...have a look at - www.fiesta-mk1.co.uk Would love to own another one. But increasingly difficult to find in good condition now, mainly due to the bodies rusting, the running gear was near indestructible. Also very sought after now, which also makes finding a decent Fiesta XR2 very difficult. Overall though a great fun little car.... Read review

End of the line... almost.
Review of Ford Fiesta 1.3 by rockandrollstar

Advantages: Cheap to buy, cheap on fuel, cheap parts, cheap everything really.
Disadvantages: Engine from circa 1959, chassis from 1989, really should have been a whole new car.

...By the time that Ford saw fit to further swell it's ranks with the Mk5 Fiesta, Britain's favourite supermini in it's previous incarnations was already popular as Pot Noodle in every town, street corner and driveway in the country. The boxy Mk1 from the seventies evolved into the slightly less boxy Mk2, which was replaced in 1989 by the all new Mk3, which was in turn facelifted and became the Mk4 which looked more like a shoe than a car. So with the advent of the Mk5, Ford was already dealing with a car that was to all intents and purposes a good ten years young. But instead of terminating production of the old Fiesta MK4 and starting with a blank sheet of paper, someone at Ford decided that there was life in the old dog yet, and that a subtle update to the old car was preferable to concieving and developing a whole new model. Now, had... Read review

Used by most DJs for a reason...
Review of Technics SL1210MK2Y by QuinnTheEskimo

Advantages: Very well made, industry standard decks
Disadvantages: Relative high price and few features compared to others

...Technics. Ask most DJs what there dream is and somewhere along the line it will involve Technics. The SL1210MK2 is the industry standard record deck, for a very good reason. They have excellent build quality and will survive even the toughest tests, essential for club use. The tonearm assembly is of the highest quality and as a result the sound output is beautiful. The direct drive motor has high torque and will start almost instantly and stop just as quickly. Technics decks are the most reliable and nicest feeling record decks I have ever used. Everything on them feels like quality, and is. Because of the relatively high price, these are probably not the best choice for amature DJs, although there is nobody who these won't be suited to these. Any type of mixing is possible.... The Best All Round Car of All Time
Review of VW Golf II GTI by tricky911t

Advantages: Its fantastic in so many ways!
Disadvantages: They dont sell them today!

...What can I say the title says it all. The Mk2 Golf Gti 8v is the answer for all people. Its cheap to run, I can get 38mpg (brimming the tank and calculating it from the mileometer), although when I thrash it (accelerate & brake with nothing in between) it will avg 28mpg although day to day will give me 33-35mpg normally, its quick, fun to drive, and people still recognise it for what it is and pull over on the motorways when you want to press on. I've had a number of cars, the fastest and most highly spec'ed being an 02 Saab 9-5 Aero yet I got rid of that becuase £70 fuel bills for 300-350mile ranges is not fun the speed was nice but handling was poor. I have had my mk2 since nov 1997, I bought it with 86k miles on the clock for £4,700, its a 91 3 door in black. The anniversary models like mine come with all the extras including extra...
