The 8th album of Modern Talking
Review of Alone - Modern Talking by
DamonaKing
Advantages: Very good music, great success
Disadvantages: mostly suitable for fast dance music lovers
...a) Common Infos/Prices:
-------------------------------
Alone is the 8th album of Modern Talking and were released in February 1999 in Germany, one year after their reunification. I bought the CD at a price of app. 14,99 Euro at that time. Nowadays the CD is available in a price class about 7 Euro.
On the album you find familiar Modern Talking music best described as good and modern Discofox. There are even new experiments as ballads and even Thomas Anders composed four titles for the first time.
a.a) Who is Modern Talking:
--------------------------------------
Well, Dieter Bohlen is one of the most famous German producers and Thomas Anders is the singer. Together they are one of the best German Pop Duos that ever existed. After 13 successful albums Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders ultimately decided to go separate ways...

The 7th Album of Modern Talking
Review of Back For Good - Modern Talking by
DamonaKing
Advantages: Interesting upgrades and 4 new songs
Disadvantages: Some like them, some hate them
...a) Facts/Prices/Information:
-------------------------------------
Back for good was released in Germany in 1998 and contains 18 tracks. At this time I purchased the CD for 20 Euro, nowadays you can get it much cheaper. Between 1987 and 1998 were 13 years of silence. In 1998 Modern Talking revived like the mysterious Phoenix bird from the ashes.
The 7th album was a real sensation, no better: it was an adorable bomb for the fans!! Complete new upgrades of their former songs from the Eighties combined with four new songs made the album an unforgettable hearing pleasure. The Modern Talking fever immediately returned after their revival and the album was rewarded with oodles of noble metal awards.
b) Who is Modern Talking?
----------------------------------
Dieter Bohlen is one of the biggest German music producers...

The Mighty Modern
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
jouk04
Advantages: Free, Fun, Educational
Disadvantages: Special exhibitions cost extra
...The building of the Tate Modern was a truly incredible project. Strictly speaking not built from scratch but rejuvenated from the gutted shell of the Bankside power station. The Tate Modern is part of a larger regeneration scheme going on, on the south bank and is the flagship project from that area. The Bankside building is relatively unremarkable from the outside, a very Modernist structure built for function rather than aesthetic beauty, though I think it has a minimal elegance, a functional and economical simplicity of design which makes it an Icon of a previous industrial age, and an excellent choice for a repository of 20th C and contemporary art. It was built as a utilitarian building, and though it still has a utilitarian purpose its modernist profile and iconic aesthetic set it apart from its surroundings. An ideal choice...

Tate Modern-The World's Largest
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
ashford
Advantages: Biggest gallery of modern art in the world
Disadvantages: Huge
...renaissance of the cultural milieu in this historic city and nowhere is this better emphasized than at the remarkable Tate Modern at Bankside.
The world's largest gallery of modern art, Tate Modern is housed in the old Bankside power station which had actually been in "mothballs" since the 1980's.
It was the creation of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott - who was well known as the designer of Britain's red telephone box - and this new sister to the existing Tate Gallery was designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron to be accessible from all four sides. They employed a dramatic use of glass and there are fabulous views of the City of London. The place is linked to St. Paul's Cathedral by a new Millennium footbridge, designed by Norman Foster.
Developed at a cost of 134 million pounds the Tate Modern is already being compared to the Musee d...

Oxford Dictionary of Modern Design
Review of Oxford Dictionary of Modern Design - Oxford Paperback Reference by
Martinscholes
Advantages: Highly useful
Disadvantages: Could do with a couple more illustrations
...The Oxford Dictionary of Modern Design is a paperback dictionary of modern design. (No surprise there, then!) Well, yes, there is a surprise as some contemporary dictionaries of modern design are very badly designed, mistaking modern design for inappropriate type fonts and garish colours, which does distract and detract from the message they are trying to put over.
But this is not the case, thank goodness, with the Oxford Dictionary of Modern Design. It is exceptionally well laid out and the information contained is presented in a way that is sharp and contemporary, yet grounded in commonsense and best practice.
The book covers all aspects of modern design. Covers great design concepts, such as Nancy School, Bauhaus, Art Nouveau, vernacular, psychedelia, modernism and modernismo or modernisme (it explain in succinct terms...

Modern is not always great
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
hulahoop
Advantages: It's big
Disadvantages: But is it too big?
...The Tate Modern is impressive in its design and decor, but does the display of art work stand up to its look?
On approaching the building, a massive converted power station, and viewing it from across the river, you can see why such a fuss has been made over its opening. It is magnificent. Its entrance alone, a wide slope leading down to a massive sloping area, is grand and helps evoke the modern style that the curators of the Tate wish to convey. I was quite astounded by the size of the place, with balconies and walkways leading along the storeys, looking over the warehouse sized entrance, which holds two heavy iron sculptures, intended for public participation. Unfortunately when I went the queues to go up into the top of these sculptures, apparently large mirrors dealing with the concept of an individuals identity, was too long...

Art for all - The Tate Modern
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
kepler3001
Advantages: It's free, vast and diverse collection, spectacular building
Disadvantages: Cafe and restaurant prices are steep
...The Tate Modern is housed in the former Bankside power station, (the building has to be seen to be believed), and was built during the Millennium year. Since that point it has developed into one of London's most sought after attractions. The artworks are spread over 100,000 square feet and are based around a massive turbine hall that serves as the building's entrance, a most spectacular sight!
Access to the gallery is provided by two tube stations, London Bridge & Blackfriars, and I took the former route which involves a pleasant ten minute walk along the bank of the river and I combined it with a quick trip across the London Bridge for a truly stunning view of Tower Bridge, shimmering in the haze in the distance. The gallery is also served by numerous bus routes, so there really is no excuse for missing this magnificent attraction...

History of modern computing
Review of History of modern computing - Paul E. Ceruzzi by
LEIGHWHARTON
Advantages: See op.
Disadvantages: See op.
...This book is brilliant if you want a excellent and comprehensive book on an introduction to a History of modern computing. I first used this book to complete a project on the world wide web and the Internet and I found it to be very detailed and it also has great pictures to accompany the text that is written in this book.
This book can be used as a textbook, for courses like GCSE or A Level Information technology or computer studies or GNVQ in health and social care. (I personally used it for both, I have also used this book for the HND course that I am presently on). I think this book could also be used for people/ students who want a more detailed introduction into A history of modern computing
Synopsis of this book- A history of modern computing
This book covers everything that you need to know about the history of modern...

modern art..ppttthhh.
Review of The Museum of Modern Art by
HobKnobette
Advantages: something to do on a bored Saturday
Disadvantages: not that entertaining
...Am I the only one these days that thinks Modern Art has gotten completely out of hand? Whereas I used to get thrills from the prospect of visiting various “hipper” museums a few years ago, now I just shudder at the thought of being faced with unimaginative, and let’s just say it, perfectly ordinary things.
I was flipping through the Evening Standard’s Metro Life magazine tonight, and was almost appalled at what caught my attention in the Art section. There is one solitary picture of, no exaggeration, a ball of packing tape. Yup. That about sums it up. Sure, this ball was roughly the size of a small room, but with the piece entitled ‘Boulder’, it hardly stirred up overwhelming appreciation.
Hephzibah Anderson of Metro Life wrote, “The Jerwood Platform provides artists with a survey at pivotal moments in their career…Highlights here...

Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (Xbox 360)
Review of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Xbox 360) by
Up-High-Down-Low
Advantages: Xbox Live Features
Disadvantages: None So Far
...Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (Xbox 360)
Call Of Duty is one of the most popular games I have played. After playing Call Of Duty 3 you will notice some obvious features to this game. Call Of Duty 4 has a great story line and the game its self is very enjoyable. Call Of Duty 4 gives you the ability to play people all over the world which is great. If one of your friends has this game then you can even play them. The graphics are great and it looks excellent on a high definition television. There is a great range of weapons on Call Of Duty 4 and after playing this game you can see why its called Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. This game is without a doubt one of the best games I have ever played on the Xbox 360.
Story Mode
The story mode to Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is great but is not very challenging. If you want to make...
