Advantages: Friendly, Bi-lingual Staff
Disadvantages: Poor Food leading to tummy upsets

...We booked this 4 star plus Prestige deal with Thomsons last minute for £400 each, including all fees etc. the brochure describes it as superb beach front settings, high standards of accommodation & service. It IS a lovely hotel, but it seems that standards have very much been allowed to slide. It's about half a mile from Monastir airport, and to look at is stunning, but it needs a good update, for example the chairs are filthy, damp mould on the bathroom ceiling, mould in the grouting. The bedrooms as basic but good enough, we had a little TV, little fridge, very large bed, little table and chairs, decent sized bathroom. The bedding and towels were changed every day and were of a good and clean standard. We went on a half board basis which was breakfast and evening meal and we found the food to be a poor quality. Christmas Break

...We went to this hotel from the 21 December until the 28 December. We fancied a change at Christmas and wanted to get away from the awful weather here. We have been to Tunisia before but in May so really didnt know what to expect over Christmas, not only with the weather but of the whole experience. After a short 3 hour flight from Newcastle we arrived at Monastir airport, very quick through customs and out transfer was waiting outside. It took about 10 minutes (if that) to get from the airport to the hotel which looked lovely from the outside and the reception area was very pretty to with huge chandeliers and comfy looking seats. The Liberty Hotel

Advantages: Great for families
Disadvantages: No good for a wild week away

...We decided to get away for the week and leave this weather behind, so having browsed around various sites, and talking to a travel agent, came across this hotel and decided that it seemed a good deal. It's years since I set foot in Tunisia, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but after a pleasant flight (only delayed 2 hours!) and a very short taxi ride of about 10 minutes from the airport, we finally arrived at the hotel. LOCATION The hotel is situated in Skanes, which is a suburb of Monastir and is close to the Roman town of Ruspina. Although it is advertised as being an area of endless sandy beaches, the beach is worth avoiding, having endless supplies of sea weed washed up on the shore line and plenty of tractors trying to get rid of it. Great Family Friendly Hotel!!

Advantages: Good facilities, clean, close to the airport
Disadvantages: Snack menu limited

...also has an indoor heated pool. Other facilities offered (at extra cost to the all inclusive package) included sauna, massage etc. The hotel is built on the beach front and has its own access. Food --------- The food offered with the all inclusive package was not A La Carte by any means but for the price more than adequate. In general there was a good choice available, even for the most fussy of kids. The only thing I would say that did let it down a bit was the very limited choice of snacks available outside normal restaurant hours. Getting around ----------------------- If you want to explore outside the hotel, there is a bus stop outside the hotel gates to either Skanes or Monastir. The buses are quite regular, very clean and very cheap. There are usually a ready supply of taxi's outside the hotel gates eager for business...

Hotel Houda

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Nothing local to do

...they use for the dancing I thought was a little unsafe for the kids disco - its raised on all fur sides with no barrier to stop the little ones falling off - it's also quite near to one of the pools. The hotel is a short taxi ride away from both Monastir and Sousse - Sousse was my favourite out of the two - I loved strolling round the Medina - be prepared for lots of hassle off the locals - but take it as all good fun and don't get intimidated. They are just trying to get you to buy something - they have a lot of competition from the locals all selling the same thing. Excursions - we did the camel train through the hotel with a guy called Fritz - you mount your camel and head off to a Bedouin village for entertainment and a light meal. Really enjoyed it - definitely worth doing. The pirate ship was quite pleasant if you like...

Negotiate your prices for taxis. bus services and local trains run nearby and are very cheap Another downside is that when arranging excursions, the reps don't tell you that you will probably spend an hour and a half each way on pick ups and drop offs from other hotels and resorts....

Iberostar Phenicia Hammamet

Advantages: Very relaxing , nice atmosphere , lovely staff
Disadvantages: Far too long transfer from airport and repetative food choices

...I have just returned from a 10 night holiday at the Phenicia. It cost just over £1000 for all inclusive for myself and my husband. Only a little over 3hrs flight with Thomson from manchester airport. 1.5hr coach transfer upon arrival is a nightmare from monastir airport !!! The hotel and pool areas are lovely really clean and bright. The beach is a bit dirty , i'm not much of a beach lover so spent more time by the pool. There are 2 pools, a lively one with shallow end for kids and a quieter one with an indoor section which is a lot deeper and preffered by adults and therefore more relaxing. The food is of a good quality but is VERY repetative...I found myself eating the same thing every meal every day !!! There is a moorish cafe where you can go and smoke bubble pipes, I didn't try it myself as i'm not a smoker. The nightly...
