Advantages: you can learn more about subjects which interest you and get good qualifications Disadvantages: it is too easy to make the 'wrong' choice.

Choosing A level Subjects
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am now nearing the end of my A level courses and have recently found myself offering advice to young people who are at the stage of making A level course decisions and so it inspired me to write this review.
Choosing the college
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Where you live depends on how many colleges are feasibly accessible to you. My local college offers a wide range of courses so I was able to apply and then pick my courses, however it is a good idea to look at whether the college you are applying to is able to offer the courses you want to do and also to make sure you look at their facilities to ensure that they will be suitable for you to be successful in your subject. It is tempting to want to go to the same college as your...

Peace , Martin Luther King, Jr., and subjects of peace in our world. ...
If you stood in front of the world and asked one simple question, and everyone hearing you had to answer totally honestly, if you stood still and shouted to the hills., "What is the one single thing that this world needs? What is the one single thing that everyone needs? What is the one single thing that will heal this planet ?
If I could give you anything in the world, what gift would you ask for? If you had to give up everything for just one single thing what would that be?
The answer is peace. Everyone, everywhere, even when they will not admit it, everyone wants a certain peace in their life...
Advantages: one of my better stories Disadvantages: unrealistic and melodramatic
...This is a story I wrote as part of my English coursework.
The Purple Mongoose
It wasn't my fault. After all, it was Emily who had driven me out of the house? Mummy's little girl, perfect in every aspect - and so smug and superior! It was Emily who had started that last argument, saying things she knew would cut me to the bone, trying and succeeding to hurt me. It was Emily who had followed me past the yellow warning signs onto the old bridge?
How was I to know that she would actually dare follow me? I thought that perfect little Emily would give up as soon as I entered private property and stepped onto the dangerously frail bridge, due for demolition ten or more years ago, deliberately to get rid of her. But no, she obviously thought that if we got caught she could blame me and no one would get cross with her...

Advantages: He's gorgeous...vocally and aesthetically Disadvantages: i cant say anything bad about this
...album was passed from street to street and made it over continents with whispers of his raw talents. MCing in a a Detroit hang out called Cafe Mahogany, in 1996, Dwele met prodigal rap meisters Slum Village, and provided the vocals for their massive hit "Tainted". Before Dwele even released the "Subject", he'd worked with the likes of Raphael Saddiq, BBQueen, remixed stuff for Lucy Pearl and London's own New Sector Movement and even went on a little tour, appearing with rap guru's Mystic, Phife (Dogg) and Phat Kat.
So what of this album? the title relates to his "subject" on this album...that being women. Carefully crafting together very smooth vocals with catchy melodies, this album has pushed Dwele into the realms of the genre "Nu-Soul" or "Neo Soul" - a combination of slow seductive soul, with jazz, hip-hop and R&B influences. When i...

Review of Subject - Dwele
Advantages: Convenient and easy to use Disadvantages: Lower quality than a macro tube lens.
...Close up lenses are designed to be screwed onto the front of your normal camera lens in order to change the closest focusing distance. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is a small double-element lens that screws onto the filter threads on a standard (non-macro) lens. Such close-up lenses result in higher magnification when used with longer telephoto lens.
In essence they allow you to get close up to your subject matter and are ideal for macro-photography. It allows your normal lens to be focused at a much closer distance- resulting in a higher magnification of the subject. The Canon 500D Close-up Lens is intended to be used on lenses with a focal length of 70mm-300mm and is designed to be used with most Canon EF lenses on the market.
The Canon 500D is a doublet type close-up lens that gives a correction for chromatic aberration. What...
Advantages: Necessary to make correct choices and should achieve the best results Disadvantages: Incorrect choices could be disastrous
...~Introduction~
I am now in the second year (Year 13) of studying my A-levels and only have a few months study remaining. The four subjects that I chose to study were: Business Studies, Physical Education, Geography and General Studies. They have so far proved to be pretty justified choices, but making those initial decisions takes careful thought and a lot of consideration.
~Making the Choice~
There are a number of things that you should take into account when you are picking which A-level courses to take on. The order of importance of some of the points I am going to raise may differ from person to person, but they are all vital factors that you must consider.
~Enjoyment~
The most important thing, in my opinion, is that the majority of subjects that you choose are those that you enjoy and are good at. There is no...
...your strengths and weaknesses, you won't get the awkward stage when the teachers try to get to know you and you them, what is more, you will be surrounded by people you already know from school. I didn't choose the VI form, I didn't like the place, it was too small and didn't supply me with the opportunity to do the subjects I was interested in and place didn't have much money so was lacking in equipment, a disadvantage of local places.
You could go to one of the colleges that offer education for everyone, of every age. I personally would not recommend this for A levels for teenagers because it is a complete difference to school, you will be expected to take full responsibility for your education, and after years of school where you will be force fed information and followed up when missing class and homework etc. not many people can...
...I've put this in the 'Daft Stories' section as although it's a serious piece in it's own right, it's also a parody of comic book heroes.
I originally wrote these short stories for another website, based on an ongoing character I had created. They're no works of art, but I thought some of you might enjoy these two, so here goes!

The Adventures of Mongoose Man - A Beginning
-------
Chapter 1: An Ordinary Life
Frank sat in his office. The fan above his head whirred into life again, blowing the cool air onto his thinning head. He needed to get out more, get more excitement, the years had just passed him by and he hadn’t really noticed until it was too late. Now he had one of those kind of lives that he swore he’d never end up in. 29 and already...
Advantages: You can choose subjects according to your interests, you don't have to study any compulsary subjects like at GCSE, you can choose as many or as few subjects to study as you like Disadvantages: Very easy top make the rong choice
..., and you are advised top use them for private study.
****What to do****
-When you are deciding on which subjects to choose, think about the jobs that you want to do when you leave school, choose subjects that will be relevant to this job, e.g. if you want to be a teacher, english might be a good subject to choose. Also think about the requirements you might need for university, and choose subjects around these. You should also choose subjects that you enjoy, because if you enjoy them, then it is more likely that you will perform well in them, than a subject that you don't like and you are totally demotivated in.
-It is alsio advisible to talk to your subject teachers about the subjects, to make sure that you know what the subject involves, and visit collage and sixth form open evenings, to make sure you make the best choice of where to...
Advantages: Wonderful writing, full of emotion, a pure joy to read Disadvantages: The openess of the ending
...in her writing style for this part. I loved Ruby's young naivety, despite her age in the excitement for their 30th birthday, and the contrast in Rose's mature almost bored approach was very contrasting, and made the novel far more interesting to read.
I have never heard of an author approaching such a controversial and emotive subject before, and I believe that Lansens really has done the subject complete and utter justice. She must have done a lot of research before writing this, and this comes out in the informative and unpatronising way Lori Lansens writes. I also liked some of the descriptions of places in Canada, they made a nice little added extra into the novel.
I really loved this novel, and I can see why it was shortlisted into Richard and Judy's Summer Book Club 2007. It really made me think about conjoined twins and their...
