After the disappointment of the Bowers & Wilkins i was convinced to try some KEF iQ9. these were much better on the detail but the bass was lacking and didnt want to have a seperate subwoofer. Then i tried the Monitor Audio GS10's and although they are only small and have no dedicated bass driver, the sound was incredible. The bass was a deep rumble, which you could not only hear but feel in your chest. The definiton of the hi-hat was as good as the KEF and you could feel the "oumph" that these speakers were producing. Beware if you buy these that the stands are £200 extra, but the proper stand has spikes which dig into the carpet to keep it all stable. There is a variety of awesome finishes on the Monitor Audio Gold Series which cannot be beaten by any other...

Monitor Audio does it again... Wow!!

Samsung NC10 Netbook

Advantages: Lots of connectivity - Big keyboard - excellent screen - Good spec
Disadvantages: bad sleeve to store netbook - battery life not that long - small touchpad

...I managed to pick up this netbook for £299 which is oustanding value - from play.com. The netbook is very light and can fit almost anywhere - it is very easy to carry around - you can set up anywhere and very easily connect to the internet where available. The netbook looks very stylish and everything is laid out well. The keyboard is the biggest i have ever seen on a netbook - its almost full size which is a bonus as I have a lot of typing to do. One disadvantage of this is that the mousepad has been made very small which is a nuisance - you do get used to it but it is not ideal. Samsung NC10 Black netbook a lightweight and excellent netbook

...I recieved this netbook for christmas and all i can say is 'wow'! My background with computers is vast having built many and installed multiple operating systems on each, however i have never owned a laptop. Therefore i was a little dubious about some of the things such as keyboard size, processing power and battery life. I was looking for a laptop which is very small in physical size while packing a punch so it could still carry out multiple tasks. Monior Audio Silver RS-6

Advantages: Great for jazz, folk, unplugged instruments, vocals
Disadvantages: Not great for overdriven rock, big-band jazz

...I bought myself a pair of RS6's for audio (not home theater). Upstream elements are a Cyrus 6s CD player and the Cyrus 8vs2 integrated amplifier. Let me say upfront that I have a peculiar room shape and the speakers have only done 30 hrs. First impressions are that they sound very good with lighter recordings i.e. jazz quartets / quintets; acoustic blues and folk; vocals. The output is natural, revealing revealing and detailed. However I was less than impressed for heavier recordings of rock and jazz. I find the highs a bit bright and the lows not well defined. I hear bass notes a bit too loose and lines blurry. Both main and inter connect cables are Cyrus. The speakers are bi-amped. Let's hope 200 hrs of break in works....

...Our large, four bedroom house is over 200 years old and therefore has no cavity walls to insulate. After a cold and damp 2008 summer we were suffering from condensation and mould problems in spite of extractor fans in both kitchen and bathroom. Time to dehumidify! We bought our DEM 10 at Curry's for £99.99. It is compact, easily moved with a fold-out top carry handle and absolutely idiot proof in use. The level of humidity that the unit will pull down to can be controlled via a knob on top of the housing and there is a full tank warning light. The water tank is transparent so that the water level can be seen at a glance and the tank is so easy to remove for emptying - and, more importantly, to replace. Try some of the competition!
