... Taxan Ergovision Monitor 735 TCO99 Introduction The oldest looking piece of kit I use at work is this monitor. Taxan is part of a Japanese electronic company who have been around since 1981 and have been a leading producer of monitors. This CRT (cathode ray tube) monitor works by basically firing electron beams through a vacuum at a screen to produce a picture. This picture is what we see when we look at a monitor. Specs The monitor I currently use has: ? 17? display ? 1280 x 1204 resolution ? Mini two port USB hub attached to Base ? Manoverable Base ? Weighs 20Kg Personal Experience This monitor is a bit old school for me, it weighs as much as a death star if your trying to move it and nearly takes up as much room as one to. Taxan on the wallet

Advantages: Lots of options to perfect the image display, reliable
Disadvantages: Was quite expensive

...This is an excellent 17" monitor which I have had for about 4 years now. Although at the time it was very expensive, it has proven to be a very good investment as 17" monitors are now becoming the standard, which means that more and more web pages and games will be designed for higher and higher resolutions. The monitor has lots of tools in its OSD (on screen display) for perfecting the picture display, such as trapezoid, top, central and bottom pin cushion adjustments, display rotation, colour separation levels, Moire pattern clear, etc. Of course it also has the usual brightness, contrast and colour adjustments. I have not had a single problem with this monitor, and it gets a fair bit of use. When it finally does give up, or it's time to upgrade, I will definitely look at a Taxan again....

Angelcare Monitor

Advantages: Peace of mind.
Disadvantages: Remember to turn off when lifting baby out of cot

...I knew from the outset that i would be one of those paranoid mum's constantly worrying about my baby & wondering if he was still breathing through the night, so I invested in the Angelcare monitor with movement sensor mat. The set includes a 'baby unit', 'parent unit' & movement sensor mat. The mat is placed under baby's mattress (if like mine, the base of the cot is slatted, or you're using it in such a moses basket, then you will need to place the mat on a firm surface such as a piece of plywood under the mattress), & is so sensitive that it can detect even the lightest of breathing. The mat connects to the baby unit which then transmits to the parent unit. If no movement (yes, even light breathing counts as movement) is detected for 20 seconds, an alarm sounds on both the baby & parent units, enabling time to get to your baby...

Good cheap baby monitors (Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance Monitor)

Advantages: 100% portable, mains or battery powered, good solid units
Disadvantages: Can eat through batteries

...Recently the video baby monitors that I had been given (second hand) gave up the ghost so I had to purchase a new set. I decided that I didn't need a video one again or one with any other fancy gimmick on it (one that plays a melody etc), I wanted a nice basic and reasonable cheap monitor just so I could hear when she wakes up in a morning etc. After looking online at the hundreds of monitors available (most of which are very expensive) I found the Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance and after reading a couple of reviews I decided that this one should do the job just fine. Whats in the Box? In the box you get a set of instructions whish tell you how to get started and how to use all of the various features these monitors have, you also get two baby monitor unit, one is the baby unit and one is the Parent Unit and you get two mains adaptors...

A Quality Monitor

Advantages: Many functions, clear sound, no interference, talk back
Disadvantages: Temp sensor maybe a bit sensitive

...We recently borrowed this monitor from a friend - it's on our wish list but we can't really afford to buy one, so we are trialling this one at the moment. Due to us borrowing it, we were never given an instruction manual, but have still managed to figure out most of the functions with success! ...This product was a definite good purchase! I was quite overwhelmed with how much choice there was in the market as to which baby monitor to buy and I settled on this one as it sounded ideal. The product is a senor pad which detects tiny movements and will alarm after 20 seconds if there has been no movement so, for example, if your baby stopped breathing an alarm would go off after 20 seconds alerting you to this. The sensory pad is a flat square which you place underneath the cot mattress so it isn't bulky or uncomfortable for the baby to lie on. The pad is attached to the monitor which is really easy to use. Monitor Your Baby

...Baby Walkabout Advance from Tomy Living in a flat I felt I did not really need the most high tech and expensive of monitors and just needed one that really did the job. I was looking at all the ones available to buy on Amazon and this one sprang out at me. It was not the cheapest monitor going but it certainly was not the most expensive either. Monitors range from about £15 up to an astonishing £100 plus. The latest ones out on the market offer a television screen where you are actually able to see your baby as well as hear their sounds and monitor room temperature. I feel however the television screen is a little bit much and think I would find myself glued to the screen while all the time away from the baby. This particular baby monitor set me back only £29. I think this is a fair price for what you are getting...

Display of affection for this CD wall display

...I recently bought the CD Wall Tiles CD Display System for £19.99 from online retailer iwantoneofthose.com. It was well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. What is the product? The complete package contains 9 plastic wall tiles in white or black, depending on the colour you order, 24 clear plastic clips to clip the tiles together in the pattern you desire, 9 plastic wall hooks, 36 rubber grips for keeping the CDs in the tiles and sticky pads to stick the tiles to the wall. The tiles are hollow so that you can put your CDs in to make a unique wall display using your favourite albums, or just ones you own that match the colour scheme of your room. Quality of the product I think the product is good quality in terms of the way it looks in your room, however I feel that the tiles themselves are somewhat flimsy...
