Great all round holiday for all ages.
Advantages: Great prices, great atmosphere, Very friendly people
Disadvantages: Narrow beach
...Set about 20 minutes drive south of the airport on the East coast of the Island this village really is great for all ages. With a main road filled with shops, boutiques, cafes, bars, and restaurants, which is only about 300metres from the beach. With a range of Hotels, apartments and villas near-by.
BEACH
The East coast is a mixture of shingle and sandy beaches. Here in Moraitika there is both although the beach is long but narrow so mid season may be a little crowded. The sun beds and Parasols are not free and cost about 6Euro per day for 2beds and a parasol. Along the beach is a lovely walk (with shade along much of the path) where you will pass many restaurants, bars cafes, water slides for children, an arcade, a play park, and Peddlos.
The water is lovely and clean and is very shallow. You could walk out 20m...

Kalami- Corfu
Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"
...I have been to Corfu twice, and have stayed in Kalami on the two occasions I visited with family.
My mum had always wanteds to go to Corfu after reading Gerald Durrells MY Family and Other Animals, which was set in the country of Corfu. But we had been told some bad things about the country, told that it was very "English-y" and not the nicest place to go. But when we looked into Drect Greece, we found this beautiful little town called Kalami, and when my mum found there was an apartement where Gerald Durrell had stayed when he was writing his book, she booked it straight away. And so off we went.
We flew from Manchester airport with MyTravel, the flight took around 3 hours and so we had a film on and got a meal on the flight so the time went very quickly. Upon arriving in Corfu, the heat hit us as soon as we stepped off...

Kassiopi - The Loveliest Resort on Corfu!
Advantages: Great Beaches, Friendly People, Fabulous Climate
Disadvantages: Negligible...
...KASSIOPI, CORFU
I spent two weeks in Kassiopi, a little fishing village on the Ionian island of Corfu, in September of this year. And quite frankly, it is such a stunningly gorgeous place that I almost have reservations about promoting it in any way whatsoever ?alas, my altruism got the better of me, so here goes!
WHY KASSIOPI? Having decided on a holiday in Greece, my husband and I considered renting a villa on Corfu, together with our 2 year-old son & my in-laws. Characteristically enough, we ended up leaving things to the very last minute, but when it came to booking it really was a case of last come, best served! The company we used, Meon, had one last, lonely Villa left languishing on its books in all of Corfu for the dates we wanted to travel. This was Villa Apanemia, in Kassiopi, and so Apanemia it was. I'd never even...

Dassia, Corfu
Advantages: Nice Quiet Resort, Very Friendly Locals
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of Kids Attractions.
...The Resort
Dassia is located at the Northern end of the Greek Island of Corfu. The resort is about 1 mile long, through which travels a very busy main road. All the bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops etc are fronting this main road, most of them being located to the right hand side of the road, heading north.
Most of the accommodation is self catering studios and apartments, most of which have a pool, very few have a bar and reception.
There are three big hotels: The Corfu Chandris, The Dassia Chandis and the Magna Grecia.
The Beach
To the left hand side of the road, heading north you will find several dirt tracks, these all lead down to the beach. These dirt tracks are very hard to travel when you are attempting to push a pram, so I presume the same would apply for those accompanying wheelchair users and those who...

FROLICS ON CORFU
Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion
...I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this op on the subject of the island of Corfu, mainly because of the goings on in our holiday accommodation, but I'll try. If you've picked this up from my account list of opinions, then I apologise for having turned it into a mini "Wish You Were Here", but I'm having really excellent fun in digging out the photo albums to rekindle some of the memories.
We spent two weeks on a Mark Warner holiday at the Club Barbati. My husband had a habit of winning the work competitions where the prizes were holidays, so the operators had already been chosen for us, otherwise I'm not sure I'd have booked with them. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but they are watersports specialists and I'm one of the world's greatest armchair spectators. Still, we weren't tied to the club, we were free to...

Corel Hotel, Roda Corfu
Advantages: Cheap, good atmosphere
Disadvantages: Old and in need of a tidy up
...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu
INTRO
Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu.
All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu.
LOCATION
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport.
The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location.
THE HOTEL
The hotel is divided up in to...

Marbella Corfu Hotel
Advantages: Can get a good price on good quality
Disadvantages: probably not a five star hotel
...I would suggest that if you need a quick dash to somewhere hot then you could do far worse than Marbella Hotel Corfu. Marbella proudly displays five stars at the end of the drive way, and whilst the rooms and facilities are good I would suggest five stars is a little generous. It is really the rooms which let the place down as they are similar in feel to a good Travel Lodge albeit with air conditioning. We opted for half board which seemed to work out well as there is plenty of food for all tastes - it's buffet style so a large serving area displays the dishes, and guests help themselves to whatever they want. There are lots to choose from, and I'm pleased to say that all of it is good. If you worry about noise at night from clubs / drunk folk having a laugh, then you don't need to worry about it here as the place is very tranquil...

Corfu Confidential!
Advantages: Flight availability, Cheap Food and Drink, Great weather.
Disadvantages: Mozzies!
...of the Island. You pass Mon Repos palace where the Duke of Edinburgh , Phil the Greek, was born. Carry on south down the east coast, through olive groves and fertile plains occasionally punctuated by tourist enclaves such as Benitses and Moraitika, both of which are suitable for couples or families looking for a relaxing holiday. With a moderate number of Tavernas and bars in which to spend an evening sat people watching or par-taking in the local delicacies, which in the case of sea food was probably caught by the local fishermen that morning, both of these resorts will not disappoint. If you reach the very southern end of the island, you come upon the "Party Resort" of Kavos. If its none stop action of all descriptions that you are looking for, then Kavos is for you. Forget history and relaxation, it's party time!.
Head north from Corfu and you...

Messonghi Village Corfu
Advantages: Ferry available to Greece
Disadvantages: Too many Tourists
...I was sorry to read the one review you have on Messonghi Village Corfu. I went there way back in 1986 with a friend and had a very good time, although I wasn't very keen on the place we stayed in.
We stayed in an apartment block and had a bedroom with en-suite, which consisted of just a shower, sink and toilet.
The room was basic, containing the usual, a double bed, side cabinets, wardrobe, dressing table and a kitchen bar which consisted of just a kettle, cups and saucers and a couple of glasses (oh, not forgetting a couple of plates and cutlery, of course). There was no fridge.
We used to get our breakfast each morning. It was left hanging outside on the door handle. A bag, containing a few bread rolls, butter, sugar, tea bags, milk and a couple of sachets of coffee.
That wasn't too bad though, as Messonghi Village is full...
