...The misleadingly named Morning after pill can actually be taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sexual intercourse. Obviously the sooner it is taken the more effective it will be. As with any contraceptive device it is not 100% effective. Levonelle-2 is in fact only 85% effective and the effectiveness of it diminishes as the clock ticks away! Levonelle-2 is the latest brand of morning after pills on the market containing 750mg of the hormone progesterone. It is taken in 2 doses of one pill at 12 hours apart. It is imparative that you take it 12 hours apart for it to work. One word of warning actually look at what time you are taking the first dose as you could end up having to set the alarm clock for the wee hours of the morning! As with any contraceptive device it is available free on prescription from your GP or Family planning...

...There are many ways in which pregnancy can be prevented. These options always have to be taken in advance, but if your caught short or something doesn't go quite to plan shall we say, the morning after pill may be the only option. From my experience, i decided i was too embarrased to walk into the local youth clinic to get hold of this, but on discovery of walking into boots and finding out the morning after pill / levonelle costs £27 to buy over the counter, i soon changed my mind! I went back to the youth clinic, and with a red face, told the woman at the desk why i was there. I had to wait a good twenty minutes to half an hour, but at least it was free. This youth centre was only for people up to 25 yrs so i'm not sure if there's anywhere you can get it free above that age. The nurse asked for the details so i told her...

...The Morning After Pill, is now available OTC, the question is, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Ive not actually had to experience taking the Morning after pill, but I know from working in a Chemist warehouse just how many the chemists. purchase each week. I know from my friends who have spoken all about it that this pill costs £20 which seems a little bit expensive but at the end of the day it helps to avoid any unwanted pregnancy. The point is, now Levonelle has become OTC will this make the underage children assume it is alright for them to have intercourse as they can go and buy the pill in the morning? The morning after pill is basically one tablet, It can be taken anywhere up to 72 hours (3days) after unprotected sex but preferably within 12 hours, as the success rate is higher the sooner you take it. Advantages: Easy to get hold of, easy to take as there is only one tablet, and it worked for me.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive to buy over the counter and can have some side effects.
