...This is an upper to middle of the range corded steam generator iron. It has all the standard functions you would expect with a modern iron and the steam jet is particularly powerful. It irons very well, I used to spend ages ironing until I bought one of these and a new board and now I get it done in half the time - it's amazing what a difference a decent iron makes! Overall the iron is sturdy and seems well made. The cord is a bit thick and can get twisted which is a minor irritation. One thing I would say is that it's very noisy! In fact, it scares the s*#t out of my dog! Also, it is quite a bulky and heavy object to shove away in a cupboard - nobody wants to look at the iron when they're not using it! ...We needed a new steam iron and while watching bidup.tv, before turning light off one night (what else does one do before turning light out ). They have the Morphy Richards Steam Generator on. Wow says wifey I want one of those, so a bid is made and we win. The postman arrives 5 days later with this HUGE parcel, God is it big. On television it looks big yes but in real life well words fail me. The Steam generator comprises of a large boiler unit that holds 800cc of water, attached to which is the iron. The only disadvantage that I have found as yet is that the boiler unit is so large that you cannot put it onto ironing board. It has to be placed to the side on a coffee table. Morphy Richards Impressed me

...ago an iron was exactly that and the choice was very limited, but technology has taken ironing to another level and we now have to choose between a huge selection Jet stream Generators and state of the art steam irons. I had to choose an iron that was middle of the road, the prices ranged from £13 up to £69 and I Wanted a durable product that would last me for a few years. It seemed sensible to choose from within the middle of price range, the Morphy Richards 40730 was priced at £44 on their site, but I bought mine from the Amazon site for just over £34 with free UK delivery and it came with a two year guarantee. The powerful 2200 watt model is nicely shaped and maybe slightly larger than some models, but it is very lightweight. ...to keep on stopping to refill. Into the water tank you place an anti-scale cartridge which looks like a bag of brown granules stuffed into a tube. Five replacement bags came with the iron and there is an anti-scale indicator light on the iron which will indicate when this cartridge needs replacing. I have been using this iron for about a month now and haven't needed to change it yet, but it does depend on how hard your tap water is. The instruction book gives a phone number to order replacements and I have checked the Morphy Richards web site (www.morphyrichards.co.uk) and they can be purchased for £13.24 for 5 bags So to use this machine first remove the water tank, take out the cartridge, fill to the line with tap water, replace the cartridge and slid back the water tank into the steam generator. A great Morphy Richards Product

Advantages: Delicious bread without such a gaping hole in the bottom
Disadvantages: Ingredients bucket a bit stiff to manouver

...I have had my original Morphy Richards breadmaker for two years and it was still in good working order but when I saw a new model in Robert Dyas, I had to go and investigate. The new model on display was boasting a drop down paddle which meant no more gaping holes in your bread after you have removed it from the tin. That has to be a plus! The fact that the price had been reduced from £70 to just under £50 swayed my decision. My current which model could be passed onto a grateful family member. As I unpacked this very good looking silver machine, I found an instruction book, guarantee card (for two years) and the measuring cup and spoons. The instruction book is very clear and is full of interesting recipes which include cake and jam. There are a list of baking cycle times and you can make a fast loaf in 1 hour should you wish...

Morphy Richards Pink Iron

Advantages: Good Value for money, Different heat settings
Disadvantages: Takes a while to get deep creases out

...I was bought this Iron when I moved out from my parents, It's a brilliant gift for a girl who is moving out of home as its bright pink! So very Girly! I've never had a problem with this iron, does everything it says on the box! The only one downside is that sometimes it takes quite a while to get creases out of jeans than some of the other irons i have used in the past and also it doesnt really appeal to men so its market is limited. It has different heat settings for different type of materials which is also a good thing as some materials need higher heat settings than others. It is also reasonably cheap fow what it is! All round it is a good quality iron which i think is great value for money....

...I've always bought cheap irons in the past but as they tend to mark easily and hence mark your clothes, I decided to buy a slightly more expensive one. With so many to choose from, the main reason I chose this model in the end was because it was half price at Tesco...£15.00. It has a non-stick soleplate so it's less likely to mark and comes with a two year guarantee. Other features include anti-scale system, 400ml water tank, illuminated settings and a non-drip system. My experience so far has been very positive. Although I initially thought the 400ml water tank was pretty irrelevant, it's actually quite useful as I don't have to keep refilling it if I've got a lot of ironing to do.
