Morphy Richards 43121 Illuma Kettle
Review of Morphy Richards 43121 S/S by
zoe_uk302
Advantages: 360 degree base
Disadvantages: Poor spout that drips, lid doesnt open fully, filter falls out
...Morphy Richards 43121 Illuma Kettle Blue and Stainless Steel
With a new fitted kitchen just installed my tatty old kettle and toaster looked really out of place!
I decided I wanted a kettle that:
Had a 360 degree base - for ease of placing the kettle onto the base
Illuminated when on
Had a concealed element
Was finished in a brushed or stainless steel finish
Had a matching toaster in the range
Was under £50
Is made by a well known brand
And of course it must look good!
I choose the Morphy Richards 43121 as it fitted ALL of my requirements and looked fantastic in the picture on the box. I purchased the kettle at Sainsburys where it had been reduced from £50 to £33.
Sadly despite the Morphy Richards 43121 meeting all of my requirements I was very much disappointed from the first...

A kettle is a kettle?
Review of Morphy Richards 43062 by
mrtimharry
Advantages: great name, great style and problem free
Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than a supermarket' kettle
...I brought this Morphy Ricards kettle a few months ago off of Amazon for £24.99. My old kettle had broken and faced with a £5 kettle from Tescos which I figured would break in a couple of months and this stylish black and steel kettle there was no choice really. Admittedly I did have £20 worth of vouchers for Amazon to spend as well.
I have never ever had a problem with any Morphy Richards products I have ever owned, including my bread maker and toaster and so far this Kettle is no exception. So apart from being stylish what does it have to offer?
Well it is a cordless kettle, sitting on a circular base, so it can be taken to your cups if need be. Although I normally have my cups by the kettle anyway.
The other big points are the capacity, at 1.5 litres, I can make all the cups of teas needed when friends and family come to visit...

Morphy Richards 43120 Glas glass breaks easily
Review of Morphy Richards 43120 GLAS by
adictivepie
Advantages: Looks, Quick Boil, Brand
Disadvantages: Filling, Pouring, Quality, Dangerous
...We purchased this kettle a little over 2 years ago and until it broke gave us many problems. Although it looked great it was a horrible kettle to use
Morphy Richards is a well respected name (purchased a morphy richards manhattan now) in the small home electrical market and from the out look this kettle is another good one, but how wrong we were.
Morphy Richards have sacrificed functionality for design and style on the 43120 glas an ilumina kettles
Dont get me wrong the kettle served us well, looked great with its black handle/brushed chrome and glass body it really looks a great it of kit and boiled quickly is an understatement. the 360 degree rotating base is great for lefties and righties. So what am I going on about you are thinking
The design is great for sitting on the kitchen work surface but it is difficult to fill as the push...

What A Disaster!
Review of Morphy Richards 43693 by
shaaza
Advantages: boils water quickly, has a filter
Disadvantages: very huge, very expensive, not 100% silent
...The Morphy Richards 43693 is a cordless 3.1kw electrical kettle for boiling or heating water. We bought ours a few months ago the same time I bought the matching toaster.
The kettle has 1.5 litre capacity which is well enough for lots of cuppa teas. The Morphy Richards 43693 has a concealed element which prevents scales from building up.
The kettle comes in a big white box with the three page manual enclosed.
I am sure a lot of people are familiar with the Morphy Richards brand. Morphy Richards is a company that specializes in household appliances from vacuums to bread makers etc. Morphy Richards is quiet respected and all their products come with a two year manufacture warranty.
Price and Place
We bought our kettle from Currys for £39.99 which is ten pounds more than the matching toaster. I really did think the price...

Water everywhere but not a drop in the cup
Review of Morphy Richards Filtermaster by
Scazzer
Advantages: nice colour, boiled quickly and had a good capacity
Disadvantages: leaked everywhere
...I had to buy a new kettle as the old one was looking like it was fresh out of the Ark.
I decided on the Morphy Richards Filtermaster Cordless Jug, because of the 1.5 litres capacity and the fact that it was cordless meant it was safer to use with children in the house.
Well, I used it the first time and it dripped and leaked water everywhere but in the cup.
I tried resting the spout of the kettle directly on the edge of the cup, but it still ran down the kettle and onto the work surface. I was really disappointed as there was hot water everywhere each time I used it.
I took it back and told the shop about the problem and they thought that there must be a hairline cut in the spout of the kettle causing it to leak, and gave me a replacement.
I used it as soon as I got in, and yes it happened again.
I took it straight back and complained...

Whistle while you work
Review of Morphy Richards Opera Cordless Jug Kettle by
liz.carl
Advantages: Price, colour, whistles on boil
Disadvantages: Guarantee relies on descaling by customer
...I started looking for a new kettle when I recently had my kitchen re-fitted. I was desperate to find a kettle which was not WHITE like my old one. I looked around and all that seemed to be on the market were stainless steel or white. So it was a refreshing change to find the Morphy Richards Opera cordless kettle which was available in a variety of colours including; graphite, white, silver, blue and green. I chose the graphite as it was different, the body of the kettle was black but the base and the on/off switch were coloured silver. This matched my new black hob perfectly.
The price was also very attractive, I got it on sale at the Co-op but the normal rrp is approximately £29.50 which compared to the stainless steel kettles that seemed to have taken over the market at the moment, is just over half the price of an average kettle...

Fancy a 'quick' cuppa?
Review of Morphy Richards Filter Rapide Kettle by
kingfisher111
Advantages: sleek, fast boiling, economical
Disadvantages: hard to find replacement filters.
...Our old kettle recently gave up the ghost so therefore, after looking at quite a few different filter kettles, we bought the Filter Rapide kettle from Morphy Richards.
There were a number of reasons why we chose this kettle:
*As we live in a hard water area it was important that there was a filter in order to avoid the build up of limescale. The filter on this kettle works really well and after about nine months we have no nasty traces of scale at all. It states that it removes limescale, lead and other impurities from tap water.
*Also, our last kettle had a filter but we had to wait for this to work before we could set the kettle to boil. If we forgot to fill the kettle the night before, we had a long wait for our tea in the morning! With the filter rapide you can turn the kettle on while it is still filtering.
*This kettle also...

Filter Rapide - cheap but not in price!
Review of Morphy Richards 43552 by
thevicar
Advantages: Filter and boil at the same time
Disadvantages: Poor build quality and design, low capacity
...I paid £44.90 for this filter ketttle and have exchanged it three times in under six months. This is a filter kettle not with just the mesh filter at the spout but one of the new kind that has a water filter cartridge and has the kettle split into a lower and upper section, and the water filters from the top compartment to the bottom compartment through this filter to remove impurities and give a better tasting tea or coffee. It basically replaces the need to have a seperate water filter jug to then pour filtered water into a seperate kettle.
The Morphy Richards is capable of filtering and boiling the water at the same time, but can only boil a 1.0 litre capacity. Since I had so much trouble with the Morphy Richards, I paid an extra £5 and changed it for the Brita Acclario Premium Graphite Model S1915. I can compare the two to help...

* KETTLE - not a hair dryer! . .
Review of Morphy Richards 43025 by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Good, smart. It works.
Disadvantages: Overpriced.
.... .
Morphy Richards 43025 Jug kettle.
Good old Morphy Richards, set up in 1936 by Donal Morphy and Charles Richards.
OK, to set the scene, the "outlaws" needed a new kettle, and I was detailed off to take the to the shops, something I don't like but has to be done. My method would be to sit down at home with a cuppa, pick one from the Argos catalogue or similar, then go collect it. - NO! - apparently It has to be "seen" and "felt" before being bought. Despite my suggesting that anything bought from Argos could be returned with a "no quibble refund". I took then shopping. Long story short - we went to lots of shops, some more than once, and came home empty handed - How hard can it be to buy a kettle? Rant over.
Anyway, they managed to find a "suitable" kettle locally, they paid some £24 which I thought a little on the high side...

A stylish and well-designed brushed steel kettle
Review of Morphy Richards 43069 Bullet by
hollypopple
Advantages: Stylish brushed steel design, boils water quickly, no drips, water gauge on side
Disadvantages: Hot to touch after use
...This well-designed, modern-looking kettle has a brushed steel finish. It sits on a base which plugs into the mains.
Although it looks quite compact, the kettle can hold over 1.5 litres. There is a handy gauge on the side that shows you how much water it contains. It tells you this in litres and millilitres, which is ok but I personally preferred the gauge on my old kettle which told you the volume in cups.
Most kettles have a removable lid which you flip up to fill it with water. This kettle is different as you put the water in through the spout. I initially thought this might be a bit fiddly but the spout is wide enough for it to be fine. The spout is also well designed and pours water without any drips.
Due to its being made of stainless steel rather than insulating plastic, the outside of the kettle can be quite hot to touch...
